I’m 24 weeks today MR I think they making decisions after 26 week mark
Hope you hear back soon x

Mine was with a dm on week 28 which was Monday hopefully they're getting through them quicker they've changed the message when you phone now to say essentially it's taking over 25 weeks don't bother ringing 🤣

Claire1987777 · 09/07/2025 10:54

NC SD 9th Jan
still no decision
sent birth certificate & they said once that’s recieved will take 2 weeks to scan onto the system 😩
took me 30 mins to get through too

dominique36 · 09/07/2025 10:55

SD 26/3 my daughter was awarded today, 1000 in the bank, does this look like middle rate care to you guys? I haven’t received a letter yet. I was going to call today but thought I’d check my bank first; exactly 15 weeks. She’s only 3 but will probably go for MR as I missed so much stuff out of the application.
Also with UC I’m already claiming carers allowance for my eldest who is 19, I don’t receive any benefits for my daughter as she’s my 3rd child, what do I put on my journal I’m clueless will she get disabled child element? Can I claim carers allowance for her as well or carers element?

DD12DD · 09/07/2025 11:20

Just called got straight through lady was really lovely but mines still in holding queue what ever this means I was hoping it was at least allocated as IV seen someone exactly the same date as mine was awarded and a few others in April I just hope it's not much longer I know it's only been 14 weeks Friday but the wait and not knowing is killing especially if they need to call the school as mine break up for summer next Thursday! I think IV sent enough evidence without the school needing be contacted as he's got other diagnosis going on but ya never know with these DM fingers crossed for everyone still waiting x

I might be wrong but if you didnt put it in the application if you do an mr they wont change the decision as its not mentioned on the application forms?

Re carers and disabled child element. I think you can receive the carers element if you arent already getting it. You cannot have carers allowance for more than 1 person ao no you won't be able to claim it for her. For the disabled child element you need to go on your account and do a COC to now day that child is receiving dla (dont do this until you have the letter as theyll ask for dates) then on your journal ask for the disabled child element to be backdated until the start of the dla award, ask for it to he sent to the DM the reason for late reporting is you've only just been notified of the award

Super helpful, thank you! Maybe I’ll wait for renewal then and do it that way rather than do through MR.

The stuff I sent special delivery was scanned on two days later so don’t lose hope x

Taken me a little while to write this, as it absolutely sent me reeling.
After a 26 week wait from my scan date of 31/12/2024... my daughter's claim was rejected a couple of weeks ago.
It was an absolute farce. The doctors missed their deadline twice before finally responding in full to the DM on the day of the third deadline. DLA made the decision that day, and it obviously wasn't the one I wanted, and honestly I can't understand why. Looking objectively at the criteria, she's deserving of HRC and LRM.
I submitted our MR over the phone on Monday (07/07) and I'm now looking into filing a complaint with the GP. I have the feeling we're in this for the long haul. So I guess, I'm reaching out for advice/information based on what comes next? If I don't agree with their decision this time, after another 27+ weeks wait 😬 then what do I do?

if you dont get the outcome you were hoping for after the MR the only thing left to do is take it to tribunal, but be warned most people wait 1+ years for this and I think the average is around 18 months. Unfortunately I dont think a compliant to the gp would do anything as they have no obligation to respond and most health care providers will not give an supporting statements for a dla application. My daughters wouldnt and I had to do a SARs request to get all of her files that the professionals held on her.

So sorry you've been refused , they will look at the claim again with it being as a MR and if it's still a decline you will need to appeal x

Omg was this a new claim? What evidence did you send in? Next step is MR I think

Hi, SD 2/4 anyone close had a decision yet? Called today and still in holding queue 🙃

BBLDRIZZY · 09/07/2025 21:06

Hi everyone,

im back again!

renewal due 22/06 went from LRC and LRM to just LRC!

decided to do an MR and received the statement of reasons which is quite literally 2 sentences long. I went back over the answers I put on the original forms as luckily I’d kept a copy, I thought I’d given a really detailed renewal however looking back I actually didn’t give that much of a details of timings and how long it takes.

now I’m doing an MR, can I go back over these questions and go into more details?

thank you

I gave in and called yesterday and just said still with DM and can take up to 25 weeks. I’ll probably call again Friday because I like to know before the weekend 😂

I’m 19 weeks… but you must be nearly 26?! I don’t understand how they haven’t escalated yours.

MM1990 · 09/07/2025 21:26

Hi everyone, My son got accepted for DLA today, i believe we are very fortunate as my SD was 10/04. I have been awarded £1323, am I correct in think that would probably be MRC? I’m abit stuck on where I got from here. I work but also receive universal credit, so can apply for the disabled child element? Is that correct? Am I also able to apply for the Carers element Or is that the same thing? Sorry for all the questions, I’m just abit confused by it all, but so greatful aswell!

What age is child? Looks more like middle care low mobility. Yes can also apply for carers/disabled child element on UC. You have to do a change of circumstances that your child is now receiving dla, and write in your journal asking for it to be sent to the DM for backing dating of both elements to date if dla award. Dont do this until you have confirmation letter though as they ask for dates

He is 3 yrs old. Diagnosed as autistic.

Wouldn't be low mobility then as cant have that until 5. The payment amount doesnt add up to middle care though its to high

MM1990 · 09/07/2025 21:40

I did think that, but wasn’t sure. Has it maybe been done from the day I called for my forms? That would be maybe a month earlier?

Yes it would be from when you rang for the forms as long as it was back within the 6 weeks

MM1990 · 09/07/2025 21:48

Ah ok, that makes sense. I don’t suppose you know about the UC elements? If they are the same thing or 2 separate things have to apply for? Thank you

26 weeks 1 day 😳
I had Paedtrician appointment on Monday to & told us after 10 mins she thinks she’s on the spectrum, but she’s extremely clever too she’s been reading since she was 2 (she’s 3)
but she can’t speak like hold a conversation or interact .She spends all her time at nursery lining everything up .She doesn’t sleep awake from 2am most nights, only eats beige food, Will scream every time I leave the room. I sent off a lot of referrals & evidence just don’t see why it’s taking so long. I’m mentally & physically drained with it all & suppose the lack of sleep isn’t helping 😅😅 sorry ranting now lol
bet you get awarded before me it’s looking like it if yours is with DM ☺️
not sure whether to phone but don’t think I can wait till Monday 😅 x

2 separate things. You have to change your circumstances to child now receiving dla and you are now a carer. If your struggling to figure out how to do that you can ask in your journal and they will help you 🙂

Definitely phone them up lovely. For your own sanity even if they say its not with the DM (shocking if its not) at least you'll have some sort of update. Its actually a joke how they leave people waiting for ao long with no correspondence from them
