Im not sure about per child you should be able to, but if you've only just been awarded you'll have to wait for your award letter of dla in the post as you'll need to upload this during the application on family fund as proof. There is no limit what you can apply for, if you need a bed mattress clothing computer holiday etc you can click all boxes that apply. You'll recieve a separate amount for each item ticked. If you haven't applied before you'll hear back fairly quick within a few days, if its not your first time I believe the wait is 9-10 weeks.

I think its worth mentioning family fund are turning down a lot of people atm as they are a charity they don't have the funds to accommodate all applicants. Ive seen loads of people bitch online about them refusing ect but at the end of the day, they cant give what they dont have.

Also my first time applying last year, it took 10 weeks for me to hear back

Lcd93 · 05/07/2025 00:29

Are you in this thread for a child or your husband in every comment your refer to your 'husband' and 'holiday' and he pops up more than the child you keep repeating the same questions over again about backpay, if you've got a child and you need help towards the cost of a holiday you can apply for a grant towards one on the family fund website. I can't tell if your genuine or just here to line your pockets for a holiday but just a kindly reminder the extra costs is to put towards care needs and mobility not a holiday. There are genuine people on here that keep getting knocked back who genuinely need the help.

I didnt get it.i didnt understand sis what you r saying.yes i am claiming carer allownce from feb 2016.now i want to know that uc taking off 360 from uc becouse i am claiming carer allownce.if i add carer element will i get back pay.will i get only carer element or both.please let me know i am really really confused here.

You wont get back paid if your claiming for your husband as you've been claiming for him since 2016 UC see it as your duty to know what your entitled to 'not knowing' your entitled will not be a good enough reason for them

Ive never had an issue with family fund. I know funding has been an issue in the past you used to be able to apply yearly but they've changed it now to every 2 years. I know first time applicants take priorty over the ones who have applied before. I applied in 2023 and I recieved a reply within 2 days, I guess it was just luck, and there is certain criteria that has to be met to be eligible.

She's been advised of others and the information isn't sinking in, she keeps referring to husband rather than child. I can't tell if this poster is genuine or not.

Let's all take a deep breath here, I understand she's repeating herself. We shouldn't judge others. Maybe there is a language barrier. We don't know the circumstances. I hope everyone in need receives the best outcome for the l9ved ones. I can understand your confused and by the sounds of it so is she ! X

@Nirzhara
Best thing you can do is call UC and speak to someone
If your child has been awarded a
Dla then u have to put a message on your journal and do a change of circumstances.
As far as caring element
Yes u can claim Carers allowance for your husband and Recieve the Carers element of UC for your child at the same time . U can ask them to backdate your from when your child was awarded.
I'd ring them on Monday x

I don't think theres a language barrier between husband and child. She's either came on here to take the piss or shes deliberately trying to get her way around a benefit shes not entitled to and she stated that herself in a comment made by her, its benefit fraud. Any type of award we should be grateful for, but it still isn't enough for her, its just sheer greedy.

My take is more that she is overwhelmed and struggling and desperate for help but I understand the confusion. We are all likely wanting to do the best we can for those we love xx

Don't put your situation on the Internet for everyone to read, simple as that. You said you ARNT entitled to it you've been told. When you say one thing then another ill call out your bullshit.

If she was struggling and she was that desperate she would of asked for help nearly 9 years ago. Now someone's mentioned a language barrier shes using that card, and pretending shes confused. There is no confusion she knows fine well what shes said and what other people have said, shes just sitting acting dumb.

Or should i ask them i want to calim for my husband i dont know which one i should do

Here(below on link) are the qualifying conditions to claim the carers element on UC, you can claim for anyone who receives a qualifying benefit. If your husband receives PIP/AA(unsure of age for AA) or DLA (some adults are still in receipt of this until they are required to change to PIP)you can claim the carers element for him. You already receive carers allowance for him which is deducted from your UC award.
BUT:
Please also read the requirements to claim the carers element regarding the LCWRA and severe disability payment.(as the carer element affects these). It is below the highlighted areas on the link.
I hope this helps.

Universal Credit

Universal Credit is replacing 6 other benefits with a single monthly payment if you're out of work or on a low income - eligibility, how to prepare.

Yes I had this when they registered my claims, send the birth cert recorded delivery. I’d ignore the 15 weeks letter.

That’s not fair! They should have checked the birth certificate way before now. I wonder if they have made the decision but need the birth certificate to finalise it? I’ve seen that happen before.
