I'm on 26 weeks atm. MR requested on 2nd Jan 2025. Not sure how long it's taking or where they are. Last week someone on the phone said it's with a DM. Today someone said it's in the holding. Very confused!

The wait is horrendous isn't it. From what I see they have caught up with new claims now so don't understand why MR and COC are taking even longer than the 25 weeks Hope you get some answers soon 🙏

Pressthespacebar · 03/07/2025 21:13

NC, SD 3/4.

hoping we get it as my sons school wouldn’t write anything of the form, they agree he has special needs but they just said it’s their policy not to get involved in such things. Had to get my early help worker to write something in the end and I sent paperwork about him getting excluded and being put on a reduced timetable.

He’s just been accepted on the right to choose pathway and an echna has been sent off for, should I ask for evidence of these to send off as extra evidence?

Got this text today for a NC, does this mean they are close or does it literally not really mean anything in the scheme of how long it will be

I have never seen a text like this before from Dla. What area are you from?

Uc question
Once they have sent claim to a dm how long have yous waited until you've heard anything?
Mine went to a dm on 19th June 2 weeks today and still nothing? Messaged a few times but kept getting told to just wait basically?

They just keep telling me the same....

I’m sure there have been 1 or 2 random MRs slip through before 25weeks but literally just one or 2! Don’t really hear many MRs or COCs getting done at all really, the majority are NCs. I just feel like over a year waiting is a joke, I’ve had to borrow almost 2k to make adaptions to my home for my son because my local council refused to do it because we aren’t in receipt of any disability benefits and OT and wheelchair services just take forever. My child will only get worse, he has a life long disease, he’s 3 and had 2 operations in the last 9mth with many more on the horizon! I just feel like I’m at my wits end, I feel like a failure as a parent because I need to borrow money to make these adaptions, I work my arse off to try and put money away for such things but then I feel like I’m neglecting my son! It’s a big horrible vicious circle and this wait is brutal, it feels like we’re not even being noticed by people who should be making things easier! When I called yesterday they couldn’t even tell me what dates they were up to for MRs nevermind how much longer we may have to wait for an outcome one way or another

Your case in particular actually makes me so angry. Because how can you be declined when you have a child who needs a wheelchair and a specially adapted home and then get declined. So basically in just over a weeks time. You will have been waiting one year and 2 weeks for this. This is absolutely horrendous. I'm rooting for you all the way. My dc also has a lifelong disease. I hope we both get what our children deserve😒

His body is completely riddled with tumours causing bone deformities and bone length discrepancies, with the tumours he has an increased risk of them turning sinister, I’m sure I read that tumours, cancerous or not make you automatically qualify yet he was totally declined, awarded nothing at all 🤷🏻‍♀️ fingers crossed he gets awarded this time and here’s hoping your little one also gets the award they need, our little bubbas are going to have enough challenges in life ❤️

COC, SD April 14th 2025

How is everyone's wait for change of circumstance going? My son was awarded MRC last year, and they sent the 3 year old mobility review paperwork just before he turned three, which is when we put in for a COC. My son has suspected autism, add, adhd. He has global development delay and recently diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, as well as finding out he has periventricular leukomalcia a brain injury that affects the mobility part of his brain.(It happened during birth, as he was born at 29 weeks.) On his welcomm assesments, he's working at the mental age of a 6-11 month old child. He's also on melatonin as he only sleeps 2-4 hours a night, and it's not really helped at all.

Also such a side note, I have two friends who put in a NC recently and one got accepted after 6 weeks! the other 8 weeks! Quickest I have seen it done before. 😂

I remember you telling all of this before I'm another thread. I'm sorry for all this.

I hope he gets what he deserves and a huge back pay for a nice couple days out, a weekend away and the things he needs.

My little one is really struggling at the moment. Yesterday she couldn't handle the pain she was in and was hunched over someones garden wall. It's been so tough but gradually we will get there.

I phoned yesterday and I'm still in a queue to be looked at by dm.

Yep, my son is struggling too, waking up constantly with pain in his lower limbs and feet, I’m exhausted! It breaks my heart to think that pain is the “norm” for him 😭 our poor babies man 😭😭 I really hope your daughter gets everything she deserves and more ❤️ what’s your scan date again, sorry I have the memory of a fish, probably sleep deprivation 🤦🏻‍♀️

Mummyof4children · 04/07/2025 10:42

Hi I’m scan date 8/4 for COC, i actually called to ask for a COC form but I would have received the same form to complete for the mobility side soon anyway. A lot of change has happened since my daughter was first awarded MRC last year, I didn’t have any diagnosis and she hadn’t been seen by anyone and her needs have increased a lot just being one year older, I now have all the evidence to back it up so I’m hoping for a higher award, she surely qualifies for it. Did you do the change of circumstances for both care and mobility on the form? If your child only sleeps for that amount of time and is on melatonin surely you should be on HRC aswell as applying for mobility. Looks like we are both here until October / November time based on the wait time right now

Yes we are in this boat together haha, you'll have to keep me updated with how yours is going! I have a similar situation, when I applied last year my son didn't really have any diagnosis's, just that he is on the social communication pathway awaiting for an assessment(still waiting), my paediatrician was actually shocked when he found out he only got MRC, as he thought with all the evidence I supplied he would have been HRC, especially his sleeping, it was the worst last year some days it was 2 hours of sleep. I was scared out of doing a mandatory reconsideration though, as I kept being told by people I knew he would probably lose it. This year we have mountains of evidence, so I am hoping he gets HRC at least. Goodluck with your COC though!
