Can anyone please tell me which is the best week to ring them and find out if it’s with a DM I’m only on week 8 so I know I’ve got a long road to wait

I think it will be fine, maybe just that the decision is going to be made closer to the renewal date?

i hope so too, but i also realise a lot of others are keeping an eye to see what happens with us!

Maybe but every claim is individual and different. We are all here for the same reason to support each other and see when we should roughly receive a decision. It sounds like you’ve given all you can for your sons renewal and hopefully that will give you a good outcome, I shouldn’t think it will be much longer, it’s just the wait isn’t it when you know it could be any time 😵‍💫

I rang at week 14 I think then yesterday. We’re 18 weeks tomorrow and still nothing 🥲

My MR is 25 weeks this Friday
I rang yesterday he told me to ring Friday but isn’t with anyone anyways
but have seen people write on here they ring on the day and get told longer

so I am expecting it to be 26/27 weeks

I really hope you don’t have to wait longer! It’s not fair to made to wait this long! fingers crossed for you 🤞

megan345 · 23/04/2025 11:13

as the weeks go on i’m getting more and more nervous if i wrote enough and if they’ll read it, i’ve got 2 quite long pieces of evidence that do really cover his needs quite well, but i’m getting quite scared now, 21 weeks on friday🫶

Dmla · 23/04/2025 11:20

16/01 still waiting. Anyone around the same date and had a decision yet? The wait is killing me 😟

fingers crossed for every one

Craftilyhopeful · 23/04/2025 11:26

Just an update, I phoned this morning about sending in extra evidence in time. NC SD 18/02 was told wait was currently at least 6 months not to expect a decision until August...

Mags2025 · 23/04/2025 12:40

I called this morning, my call has been answered straight away! I didn't even prepare ref number 😅. NC 18/12 no updates so far. Very nice lady said that it's still in the queue 😕 It's so frustrating that ppl who sent claim after you know the decision and we are still waiting.

I hope its as quick as that, or quicker for the rest of us.
Congratulations 🎊

Amf2508 · 23/04/2025 16:05

NC .. SD 30/1 just received a text to say our child qualifies! I’m over the moon. Only waited 12 weeks! I did send the forms off about a month prior to the SD but is what it is!

StanleyParents · 23/04/2025 16:18

So current plan is call again Friday Morning, then if still nothing call on Monday Then daily until we find out, already had carers allowance letters saying its been cancelled and my UC for this month is higher because they've taken off the carers allowance (which isn't an issue, honestly we applied for carers allowance not realising it is deducted from UC)

This sounds really positive, congratulations 🎊 I've no idea why there's so much disparity in wait times. Surely they should just pick them off the top of the pile in order. I'm hoping he was saying 6 months just so I wouldn't ring back for a while 😅

StanleyParents · 23/04/2025 17:00

I wonder if it's purely date or if certain people cover certain areas? It would make sense for the disparity of award dates

Carers allowance and carers element is the same amount so if you wasn’t getting carers allowance you would still be getting the carers element. But when your on carers allowance it goes pound for pound with the carers element, if that makes sense, some people choose to claim carers allowance so they can care for there child without needed to work.

I find that it happens when they are trying to get the wait times down, like they’ve got a new dm to start on the next month. It’s a sign that the wait times will reduce soon. That’s what I’ve noticed from previous threads anyway.

Yep, realised after like 8 months we was entitled to carers element of UC but we learnt haha

I would have never have known about the extra money from uc or carers allowance if it wasn’t for this thread

Foreverlearning88 · 23/04/2025 17:31

Is it carers allowance that gets taken off a UC award but element doesn't, is that right? So much contradicting information online! Not that I am entitled to either as I haven't been awarded from DLA yet just curious 🤣
And one you can't earn over £151 a week? Seems a bit irrelevant if it gets taken off UC anyway unless you dont claim UC? It's all very confusing

Yes carers allowance gets taken off uc but you would be claiming carers element too so it just wipes out the carers element. I claim carers allowance as i need to care for my child all the time so i wouldn’t be able to work and uc won’t try to get me to work but with just carers element they can get you into work.
