Unfortunately it’s not good news, my son has been declined. I’m gobsmacked why and how he got declined so another long 20/25 weeks ahead fighting for what he deserves

im so sorry to hear this but out your foot down fellow mama you know your son better than anyone ..definitely appeal it x

I’ll fight it all the way to tribunal if I have to. I know the care he needs and I know how much I need to do day and night to make sure he’s safe and cared for. Definitely do 100x more than what a parent of a typical 3 year old would be doing.

LoudAquaViper · 22/04/2025 09:35

He’s 3 in June. Wakes up 2-3 times a night and will be awake for 1-2 hours a time. Started doing a sleep diary for him a few weeks ago so that will be going in the next lot of evidence too.

Oh its awful they don't listen. I feel.your pain. My daughter is 3 and half and hasn't slept since she was 1, had an easy first year.... then all went tits up 🤣 never get more than 2 hrs sleep ! I'm not very hopeful for my claim now either!

Maybe the DM that picked your application has the hump about being back to work after a long weekend ! Do you have to request new paperwork for a MR or do they simply recheck your original application?

Of corse, good luck with your claim! Just don’t understand, lowest rate is care through some of the day and he didn’t even get that. There is no way they looked at his claim and the evidence we sent

I’m not too sure to be honest, I’m waiting for the statement of reasons before I put in for a MR so I can cross reference the evidence we have. Poor boy doesn’t deserve to not be looked at properly. It makes me so angry

Like someone above said you probably got someone that got the hump being back at work…does he go nursery? we sent speech and language assessments, nursery assessment,a letter confirming he had been accepted to go on the list for a peadatrician, and also we sent an assessment from his SEN lady and then I wrote a lengthly bit myself…it’s such a kick in the teeth…hope you get someone with a heart that looks at your appeal x

Have you been awarded with that evidence? As ive sent early help assessment from preschool, paediatrician appt letter and statements from myself. We have since got a speech and language appt through but I thought it may be too late to send that as was only last week

I’m still waiting my scan date was 7th march and it’s a new claim I’ve never done this before so I’m sure it’s a long ride for me to wait…I did see someone comment you can send extra evidence in at a later date so once you have got the paper work from your daughters SAL maybe give DLA a call and say you now have this can I please add it to my application and I’m sure they would allow it …

I sent my initial forms in December so hopefully should hear soon. I've sent in extra evidence since as I was a bit vague with my first forms and didn't realise how much you had to send etc so have since sent in EHA, appt and personal statements as I definitely messed up the original forms so I pray they've received the extra letters I've sent but can't bring myself.to call up 🤣🤦‍♀️

we have a health visitor report scoring him under his age for every single section. Also sent portage, SALT and autism assessment referrals. report from health visitor. Our own statement aswell.

we have seen portage and SALT now so will have a lot more evidence to throw at them for the MR but with everything we sent there is no way he got looked at properly

We have only had 1 zoom call with SALT and we are on a 18 month waiting list for another and a 3 year waiting list for a peadatrician …Im sure they will come back at me then and decline with not enough evidence but we sent so much off so i will appeal all the way if I have to …hope you win your appeal x

MumMummyBroandSGOmum · 22/04/2025 10:11

I have just called and this lady explained there are 8 holding queues so when it first gets sent in you start at 8 then as the weeks go on it goes through the queues. Where you eventually get to 1 it’s then picked up by a decision maker. She just said I’m in the top of the queue awaiting a DM and asked if I’d like a text with a. Decision. I don’t know what of that is actually true. But that’s the most “getting somewhere” of an answer I’ve had so far

Scaffwife · 22/04/2025 10:15

Selblockh · 22/04/2025 09:32

@Scaffwife oh I see as I was trying to figure out your back pay aswell

my son turned 5 in November

what sort of things did you send in. I’m nervous as I didn’t send all the stuff that I sent when he 1st got awarded. I thought they looked at old claim aswell

So I sent in his EHCP,
reports from his teachers at his specialist school detailing that he always needs 1:1 supervision & hand held / restrained when transitioning around the school or on the mini bus for transport or swimming
blue badge award
disabled parking bay award letter
a detailed statement from me and a walking diary
disability buggy referal

so now I have contacted the gp for extra evidence
his taxi company company to advise they cant leave him unattended to walk to the house etc etc
and Ive been given a great document to quote DLA as like case law against the statement of reasons of refusal of the high rate mobility…I have just requested ….i mean i sent so much already it’s crazy the hoops they make you jump through!!

Selblockh · 22/04/2025 10:15

Any COC still waiting or heard anything
my sons scan date is sd 31/10

Yeah our SALT appt is via zoom which i think is bloody awful!! Seems pointless. My daughter speaks well but it's the context and relevance of it so need to try and engage a conversation with her! She won't even go on facetime with my husband, let alone trying to get her to come onto a zoom call with a randomer! It feels like such a waste!!

i sent in EHCP
pead reports
which lists all that he is diagnosed with
sleep diary
a few other bits

Edited

Yes me and my husband was not really happy that we at to do it on a zoom call and not in person, can’t really tell over the phone with someone but hopefully the next one will be in person as I will put a complaint in if not .even on a waiting list for another hearing check which is absolutely ridiculous and he gets so upset with these appointments,he’s due his next lots of vaccinations in June and. I’m dreading that so much 😢 as I know he’s going to really get upset ,he starts crying when we walk into the dr’s…I’m not the best at filling out forms so I just hope what I write was enough and I’ve given them numbers for his nursery to speak to them…
