@staybyyoushe also asked me if I wanted to get a text message when a decision has been made which I said yes too. So I’m not sure if they automatically send texts

They don’t automatically send the texts I spoke to my DM last week and he said he’d sent me the text as a courtesy but actually told me on the phone she had been awarded LRC

Ahh ok, good to know. She asked if I wanted to receive one when they made a decision and I said yeah so hopefully will get one. Then I’ll call to see what the decision is. Thank you

How long did it take anyone to get the acknowledgement letter for a new claim?

I sent my renewal for my son and my daughter's new claim at the same time, but only had my son's confirmation

My SD is 18/12 and I had a letter from them on 04/02 so like 6 weeks after

@LoudAquaViperah ok, maybe if I chase in a few weeks I will request a text message.

Someone up thread/on the previous thread quoted another term to use, not ‘with a DM’ but similar. But I can’t remember what it was, or find the post. I think she got asked if it was an audit call as it’s not well known but accurate.

Im not feeling positive about the outcome, but now we’re at the original deadline I just want to know. Good luck.

I seen that I believe she asked if it had a owner

For anyone that is waiting for a decision and has provided evidence for HRM under the smi rule have you stated your child meet the criteria for smi and put detailed evidence under each test section on one piece of paper? Or has it just been within everything you have sent in? I’m wondering if it would be worth me sending in another piece of paper with just the smi criteria as all my evidence is throughout the reports and what I have on my form not all in one place

Justanothermum31 · 16/04/2025 18:11

Hey just a little update on anyone waiting for an MR, I’m at 25 weeks today. I have called and was told they are working a week behind and I will have a decision within the next 7 days. So most likely anyone will be waiting longer then 25 weeks.

They say they will text or request but never do
my daughters claim was accepted yesterday after being with DM since Friday and still haven’t received a text year I know her award and the amount they have keyed for her backpay.
usually you get told a decision has been made you then ask to be trf to someone who can divulge the outcome which they did to me over the phone.

I actually did this myself for my son's renewal! It's due 4th May so not totally sure if it's worked.

I basically used the SMI rules as headings and wrote a couple of paragraphs for each section and where some of the evidence was, for example for the high rate care I mentioned that in the paediatrician letter she talks about his sleep difficulties.

I'm hoping this is enough also!

Curlycookie5 · 16/04/2025 19:23

Thank you, I think I will do the same, I always worry that they won’t read all the evidence but doing it that way it’s all there right infront of them. Is your son currently on HRC or MRC? My daughter gets MRC at the moment, she hadn’t been seen by anyone at that time I first applied and was still only 3 and now a year on she has been diagnosed asd with a profile of pda, has a ehcp, bowel and bladder, cardiology, SALT, dietitian, educational psychologist, EYSENDIT, SENSS C&I, IEP with full time 1-1 at preschool, so much can happen in a year

Coc here too SD 8/11 still not with a dm 😒

ByChirpy · 16/04/2025 19:40

@scaffwife @selblockh
Any news on your claims this week for coc?
I was debating ringing tomorrow again before the bank holiday but don't know if I want the disappointment of being told its still in a queue 🫣

StanleyParents · 16/04/2025 19:41

Curlycookie5 · 16/04/2025 19:24

@StanleyParents

So he currently gets MRC and LRM.

His first award came after ONLY filling out the application form, we was so new to it all and we just completed the form and hoped for the best.

Now we are a bit more savvy and understand the rules better. It's likely he has always been entitled to HRC and HRM in my opinion.

This time we've included his list of diagnoses which include ASD, PICA, Learning disability and a few others.

For his evidence we have:
EHCP
SALT Report
Statement from his school (he attends a specialist resource unit for children with additional needs)
Paediatrician Report
OT Report
Social Services referral and report (we included this as it specifically mentions his destructive behaviour and the need for property adjustments to ensure his safety)

And extra to the application form we have written that document of additional evidence (which totalled 4 pages!)

I used to be an assessor for apprenticeships and it was my job to look at documents and map out where it met certain criteria, it's what I've tried to do here and backup my claims with evidence.

I am hopeful this is enough, but only time will tell, his renewal is due 4th May so hopefully will know within the next few weeks!

Edit: I should add that he is 8 and we only started claiming when he was 5 despite being under a pediatrician since he was 3 so we was very late to all of this! He already has a blue badge from the council because of his challenges and His behaviour is just so challenging at times, these half terms are so killer!

Sd 8/11 23wks for coc here I rang last week and was told still in queue to be assessed. Also questioned SD as I actually posted/they received claim 25th October before it was due back on 31st Oct. Call handler was going to put a note on record to rectify Sd so unsure if my sons SD is now changed to 25/10 which would actually make it 25weeks this friday.

megan345 · 16/04/2025 19:48

when i rang 4 weeks ago they told me the scan date for mine was 29/11 which aligns with when royal mail delivered, when i rang today my scan date was apparently 03/12?! no clue how they do it🤣

They've told me different stories each time. I was originally told it would only take 8 weeks wishfull thinking 🤣 when you received letter confirming they'd received the claim it should state the date on the letter mine does say 8/11 but they definitely received it 25/10 🤣

megan345 · 16/04/2025 19:51

mines a coc so i’ve had no acknowledgment letters/texts unless i ring them😫 i was originally told 16 weeks, then 20 and now just to ring back on 27th may🤣x

MelTom88 · 16/04/2025 20:08

Does anyone know what happens to the claim if they haven’t made a decision on the renewal in time? Do they just stop the claim?
I need to prepare and tell UC that he isn’t getting it on the interim if that is the case.
