DLA WAITING TIME THREAD 67

zoeybrooks45 · 25/03/2025 10:48

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Can I ask about how DLA works please - if your child gets awarded LRC, but you disagree with the decision and put in for an MR which is another lengthy process, what happens with payments in the meantime? Will you start to receive LRC payments from the point of award until you hear the outcome of the MR?
🤔

You will still receive the money from LRC
while it is going through the process

Sarahlou15 · 27/03/2025 10:13

PSO123 · 27/03/2025 09:51

Child is 9.

Unfortunately already MR. So think appeal next?

OMG this is terrible for you
I’m sorry you have to go through this and I would ring back and put complaint in about lady on the phone
I have read some people have gone to there local MP for help also
and thing is to go to tribunal is taking more then 1 year I think which is more pressure and stress for you and would be quicker to wait for renewal

did you send a lot of evidence in to them

@PSO123 yes then the next steps for you is appeal and you should 100 per cent appeal if you know your child is entitled and deserves a higher rate.
You're not ungrateful in the slightest and you don't come across that way.. These are disabled children we are fighting for that have needs and the system is there to support that, they get the awards wrong all the time, and sometimes it's just wording on the form sometimes it's they need 1 more piece of paper sometimes it's they have not looked properly or understood or rushed...
MR and Appeals are just another process of them to look again and you're within your rights to do that.
The worst case is a no but atleast you tried 💫
Your MR notice will tell you the appeal process. I would encourage you to do it.
Your existing claim is still in place and you will still be paid whilst you do the appeal..
DLA also have to respond to your appeal within 4 weeks and I've seen many claims be over turned during the 4 weeks and awarded higher so you don't even have to continue with the first tier or a hearing

Hi is any one waiting on renewals my ds is due too end 17th April forms recieved 16th dec still not been looked at x

KH94 · 27/03/2025 10:54

Hey!
Has anyone on here ever notified UC and had the journal message/letter to say that special circumstances apply and the statements will be adjusted. Roughly how long does this take please? And also how long from receiving that notification (Monday 24th) til the back payment is made into our account please?
Thank you!

Mommyto2x · 27/03/2025 11:05

NC SD - 22/11.
Called on Monday and they said still in que.
Called today and they said with case manager.
Does anyone know what this means? Is that the same thing as a decision maker? Wonder how long for a decision now

Thank you so much for being so kind and this information. I'll await to get the letter and then go again.

It's a pot luck of which decision maker you get and how good you are at filling the forms in. I obviously need to go into more detail which I will.

I'll be doing it ASAP so looks like I'll be around here much longer 🤣

Are you doing an MR?

Hi is any one waiting on renewals my ds is due too end 17th April forms recieved 16th dec still not been looked at x

I called on Tuesday as I sent my forms in late, the lady informed me that renewals will always be looked at before the current claim ends, she said there's no harm in calling a week before just to make sure it's being looked at!

Hope that helps

@PSO123 Yes I'm definitely doing a MR I'm going to wait a week or two to see if my letter comes for LRC and what it says reasons award length ect and then respond to that or if it doesn't arrive in that time I'll call and submit my MR over the phone or on the gov website...
It's better I have their reasons though first so I can cross reference why they are wrong 😂 💫

And then I will just forget about it and wait for the outcome of the MR as I was kind of actively waiting the last 18 weeks for a decision of my new claim but it gets time consuming and takes over your head space doesn't it and I'm not doing that to myself for the next 20-25 weeks..
I'll pop on this thread if anyone Tags me with questions but other than that i will just submit and forget about it 💫

Good luck with your appeal.. Please do it 🙏🤞🏼

Daryl54 · 27/03/2025 11:48

You can still send more evidence! I'm hoping to send a pediatrician letter in the coming days! Mine ends 4th May

Craftilyhopeful · 27/03/2025 12:34

SD 18/02 - this was a renewal but my award ran out in October and we were waiting for various other tests and didn't realise we could submit then send the additional evidence... wish I'd have come on here sooner! Previously HRC LRM so hoping for same this time but possibly increased mobility, not sure about criteria. Just following for an idea of timescales but not expecting to hear anything for another couple of months at least x

If the award is for a year, isn't your renewal coming up soon anyway? If so, is it worth going to town on that, rather than appealing (other than for the back pay)?

I think DD should've got MRC, but I can't face appealing, so I'm just letting it slide for now. I hope we didn't just get a year award, as we're already past that, so I'd be late for renewal!

I think I may actually send it with his new EHCP and some recent behaviour logs, just worried because it took over a month to scan my renewal and evidence on to the system and worry it might just end up in a big pile and I’ll delay them looking at his claim if they are waiting on more evidence if that makes sense, do you know if they normally scan it strait onto the system when they receive it and link it to the evidence they already have or say if I send it next day delivery tomorrow, it could still take over a month to be scanned?! Good luck with you claim 🤞🏻

Has anyone had a MR (decision made) over the phone and actually found out what it was? Or do you have to wait for the letter/money? If you did hear in the phone and was awarded any idea how long it took for the money to go in?

I was at 25 weeks yesterday scan date 2/10 and I’m seeing people awarded after me but I was also told my decision maker was on AL and back today so I’m really hoping I get a decision today. I’ve waited shy of a year since I first put the claim in 🥹

I did option 3 instead of 4 good luck

Louella30 · 27/03/2025 13:16

How long does it take for payment once decision has been made?

Daryl54 · 27/03/2025 13:18

@StanleyParents fingers crossed 🤞 my son currently gets hrc so just hoping it continues don’t have much evidence as everything still on waiting list hospital and asd assessment x

Till May 2026. So a year from now almost.

Ah yes. I think 2 year awards are common. That's what I'm expecting once I get the award letter.
