DLA WAITING TIME THREAD 67

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Yeah I typed my comment caved and called. Zero update again told not with a case manager and won’t be looked at till 25 weeks due to high demand for MRs I said I was told it was with a case manager when I called at 15 weeks can you tell me why it isn’t now? and she told me “sometimes we tell you what you want to hear so you leave us alone for a little while” I replied with excuse me? She said guessing that’s everything thank you have a good day and goodbye all while talking over me. Then hung up. How about some honesty in your scan date letters on wait times and then you won’t get the constant phone calls. That’s me done now till 25 weeks won’t be calling again.

Don’t let it put you off definitely keep doing u I had some proper snotty ones but then some really helpful ones I was told 3 times there was no change but almost a month my claim had been accidentally closed by them

I called at 2pm and still nothing, the guy said they still have time and he has seen decisions happen on the day so if I call tomorrow morning to find out and if no decision they'll be able to raise the issue. Feel like I'm in limbo waiting.

Babylipswifey · 10/04/2025 16:00

Does anyone know roughly how long before getting the letter

I hope they over turn the decision it’s really a lot to loose for my boy and will struggle xxx

Mamto3boysX · 10/04/2025 17:03

We're on a renewal wait too!
Couple weeks after you though
Renewal date 09/06
Scan date 28/02
When i phoned i got told ill find out a week before renewal date, but from what I've read on here it's usually about 3 weeks before? So hopefully you should hear something in the next week or so?
Sorry if this isn't much help!

Renewal here!! Renew date 17.04. Scanned 17 December..... Still waiting!

Have you tried calling them yet?

TippieTappyTara · 10/04/2025 18:08

I really hope I get a positive decision. My ds 4yrs old just ran out of my front garden gate after given 2 choices (come and talk to me or time out step) all he did was hit his brother ... so i didn't wanna put time out as an option ...he refused pulled the gate open and ran down the street. (I have never ran so fast and what makes me so sad is that not only was he in danger but he put his 3yr old brother come following out with us)
I have a feeling he has AU-DHD and PDA unable to get diagnosis for another year and dla is our only hope to getting some help. 😢 sad and still catching my breath.

When was the last time you called? My renewal scan date was 17/12 due to end 28/04 and my decision was made 1 day after I was told off for ringing twice in a week! 3 weeks exactly before the renewal was due to end

Did your renewal decision be made after the last payment was made on the old award?

@Mumof1xox
They are actually at 17 to 18 weeks now they've moved past the 5th Dec new claims which is 18 weeks and I can see the figures on the HMRC system that lots of new claims from middle to end of Dec have been awarded and also the first week of Jan... I'm sure some claims are still waiting from before 5th Dec but as an overall legislation figures are showing 17 to 18 week wait for new claims 🙏

Can you kindly share the link for that When yiu have the time, please

Decisions happen on the day? I.e Decisions happen the same day the Dm gets the form and evidence? Blimey, wouldn't that be grand by the grace of God!

Ah thank you for this! I’m really hoping this is the case now. Thank you so much. Fingers crossed xxx

Just been thinking of your post and wanted to ask are you also claiming carers element of UC because If not this is something you should also be entitled to ontop of the disabled element to and should also be backdated xx

Cinnamoncupcake · 10/04/2025 19:44

Did your renewal decision be made after the last payment was made on the old award?

No it wasn’t. I was told by the call handler it would after the last payment and before my end date but my last payment is the 15th and decision was made on the 7th
