DLA WAITING TIME THREAD 67

zoeybrooks45 · 25/03/2025 10:48

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

is the waiting time for new claims 18 weeks now or still the 25 weeks

@Tayyy24 The overall new claim wait time is now around 18 weeks.. There are certain claims and cases that may take a little longer if the dwp healthcare professionals need to give an input or the DM has asked them a question but overall it's 18 weeks.. The current scan dates with DMs are 15th Nov to 15th Jan or there abouts..

PositivityRipples · 10/04/2025 12:07

@s39 Unfortunately there is no timescale for MR or COC the legislation on timescale only applies to new claims and renewals.. Which is why you will notice renewals are done before the current award ends and new claim timescale has now been reduced and the backlog reduced to around 18 week wait they actually have to get that down to 15 weeks under benefit timescale legislation I think this is why MR and COC are being put on the back burner and taking a ridiculously 25 - 28 weeks... Once the New claim wait is 15 weeks that should speed up MR and COC but right now it's atrocious 😩

That makes sense no wonder the MRs have been pushed back not good news for us waiting for outcomes of MRs 😩 but hopefully 🤞🏼 they “might” speed things up thank you for your reply x @PositivityRipples

StanleyParents · 10/04/2025 12:22

Anyone other renewals pending?

4th May mine ends, spoke on Monday to check they have all my additional evidence wasn't with a DM at that point, thinking of calling Monday to see if it is.

@s39 Yes fingers crossed the New claim timescale gets down to 15 weeks then we will probably see a massive speed up with MR..
I've actually just been on the phone to MR as I've logged my sons s/d 4th April and wanted to make sure they have it as I done a paper MR and I have other evidence coming from the educational psychology next week as she's done a detailed report for me so I said I'll be sending that aswell on 2 weeks and she said " yeah that's okay you've got about 6 months anyway" 😩🤣😭🤔

We're on a renewal wait too!
Couple weeks after you though
Renewal date 09/06
Scan date 28/02
When i phoned i got told ill find out a week before renewal date, but from what I've read on here it's usually about 3 weeks before? So hopefully you should hear something in the next week or so?
Sorry if this isn't much help!

Edited

@Mumof1xox
They are actually at 17 to 18 weeks now they've moved past the 5th Dec new claims which is 18 weeks and I can see the figures on the HMRC system that lots of new claims from middle to end of Dec have been awarded and also the first week of Jan... I'm sure some claims are still waiting from before 5th Dec but as an overall legislation figures are showing 17 to 18 week wait for new claims 🙏

Mumof1xox · 10/04/2025 12:42

@PositivityRipples Yh because I’m at 18 weeks now and my scan date is the 3rd of December and when I phoned today I got told I should hear something by the 24th which will be the 20th week for me and the decision maker only got my daughters case on the 3rd of April x

@Mumof1xox Hopefully you hear very soon now.. Each individual claim / case is different as the DM requires different information for each individual child sometimes from school, professionals you've listed and gave evidence from, sometimes from the actual claimant ( parent) and sometimes internal evidence and advice from the DWP healthcare professionals but some claims don't, also depends how much evidence is sent and the case manager or DM have to filter through.. But lots of claims have been awarded with scan dates past yours.. There's actually about 300 for east Midlands from Jan 25 scan dates... The figures are just overall.. The dwp have timescales to hit and reduce across dla and pip..
So let's just say a DM has your case but is awaiting for an internal question to be answered the DM won't just stop andd wait they will do the 30 claims past yours that can be awarded without internal input so someone who's with the same DM as you would be awarded from say 27th Dec then the DM will go back to yours award you and then jump back to where they were originally at and continue claims from 27th Dec onwards if that makes sense.. Its how they clear backlog because they just continue and then by Monday that DM is on Jan 25 claims and the wait is then reduced to 16 weeks...
The secretary of state is pushing dla to reduce the wait times on new claims as lots of MPs are involved from different cities that claimants have gone to regarding the needs of disabled children and the inpact this is having on the mental health of parents and the support all these special children need... So they are under pressure at the minute the first tier tribunal is also pushing dla to do the claims more thoroughly and give more specific reasoning for smi and Vuw claims at MR stage to reduce appeals at the first tier.. This has all been done in the last 3 days as the new tax year started on 7th April..
So system is showing 17-18 week new dla claim wait as an average overall.. They have to get that to 15 weeks so they are working to do that DMs work on dla claims until 8pm week days and all weekend but yes the wait time is still ridiculous but it is case by case basis and averages overall on the figures 🙏💫

I got told this 2 weeks ago when I called to but has been with a decision maker from 16 weeks. I havent called since then. He also tried to tell me my scan date was a month after but had none of that and swiftly corrected him. God know what’s going on. Tempted to call this morning but feel it’s a waste of energy I’m only 21 weeks

@PositivityRipples ohh ok Yh it makes sense a little bit now , Do you reckon mine would be a decline then ?

@Mumof1xox Do you mean do i think yours will be declined because you are still waiting from 3rd December?

Absolutely not, it just means the DM is still deciding on a decision and rates ect for whatever reason and they haven't reached their decision yet..
They could make a decision in the next hour or next Tuesday and award your child which is the hardest part isn't it cause you then want to call everyday cause you don't know when..
Try not to worry you are literally on the timescale and if they've confirmed the claim is with a DM you will get your decision very very soon 💫
Keep us updated on the thread

Was this just an example? Because I’ve seen others have decisions from beginning of January yet my NC SD is 18/12 but not even with a DM yet?

@Judgejudysno1fan I know it's ridiculous isn't it.. I already knew the MR wait time is currently 25-28 weeks but hearing them say 6 months ( which is 26 weeks) I was like oh yeah great marvellous 🤣
Hopefully in the next few months the MR timescale is reduced aswell and they start getting around to them quicker

Mumof1xox · 10/04/2025 13:28

@PositivityRipples ok now I have a better understanding of it thank you for breaking it down and I will keep it updated on the thread x

COC 18TH OCTOBER rang this morning will be 25 weeks tomorrow. It is now with decision maker anyone know how long once it is with them x

senmumma91 · 10/04/2025 13:32

Yeah I typed my comment caved and called. Zero update again told not with a case manager and won’t be looked at till 25 weeks due to high demand for MRs I said I was told it was with a case manager when I called at 15 weeks can you tell me why it isn’t now? and she told me “sometimes we tell you what you want to hear so you leave us alone for a little while” I replied with excuse me? She said guessing that’s everything thank you have a good day and goodbye all while talking over me. Then hung up. How about some honesty in your scan date letters on wait times and then you won’t get the constant phone calls. That’s me done now till 25 weeks won’t be calling again.

Calls are recorded aren't they? I'd consider making a complaint that is shocking
