DLA WAITING TIME THREAD 67

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 25/03/2025 10:48

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

@ByChirpy I bit the bullet on hold for 50 mins …..only to be told still no decision and should expect it done by the end of the month 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

Oh my goodness 50 minutes!!! I'd of lost my marbles with them if I had of waited. I think they are just picking week numbers out of their head now. Definitely no point in me ringing this week. Still be here come christmas at this rate 🙄

I was wondering if anyone could help. I’ve recently been awarded dla for my daughter. I have done all the relevant things via UC. Today I have had a letter on my UC journal saying I am entitled more UC as my daughter can not share a room with her sibling. So I am allowed a higher payment towards housing costs. I have been told this will also be backdated to my start date of DLA claim but wondered if anyone knew what this figure would be? I have searched google high and low but no luck finding an answer. Thanks in advance x

Holta · 08/04/2025 19:35

Does backdate payment go in middle of night normally or is it any time of day for that ?

Sounds like the disabled child element, I believe this is around £198 a month

I'm sorry I can't help you because I've not heard of this before but I'm going too look into this myself as I am sharing a bedroom with my 9yr old ds as he cannot share a bedroom with his brother who is 14 as he's tried putting pillows over his head gets him in choke holds doesn't let him go he doesn't understand the risks and danger he has trouble sleeping aswell I put in for a council house asked if I would be entitled to an extra bedroom for this reason but they said I wasn't entitled as my 9yr old could share a bedroom with his 19yr old brother instead of sharing with me there allowed up until hes 21 which I think is crazy

I have already received the letter in regards to the disabled child element back pay. I have no idea what this extra room thing is all about, never heard of it before.

Oh wow, yes definitely look into it. I had no idea about it before today. I’ve asked in my journal for some more info so will report back once I get a reply.

Yes please do

Oh wow that’s great so 15 weeks?
sorry to ask but did your child have a diagnosis? I’m wondering if it’s quicker with one.

Hi, yes ADHD diagnosis. Also under CAMHS so quite a bit of evidence there but not much from school. Significant needs under mental health (stemming from ADHD and ACEs).

So if you rent, and say you live in a 3 bed but there is 1 adult 2 children (you have a spare room so you have to pay the difference so I have to pay a % to fulfill my full rent payment.) If you qualify and get this rare gem of a letter. That means uc with cover the full rent and you do not have to pay for the spare room as your child entitled to their own room. This only goes into effect if you have a spare room. If you do not have a spare room with this letter you will be entitled priority for a larger house through the council. (I would request a copy of this letter for future)

Oh wow. Yes I have a 3 bedroom private rented property, it’s just me and my two children. My rent is currently £995 but they only cover £600 atm. If this does mean they will cover the whole amount that would be so helpful! Hoping to get a reply in my journal today so I will update. Thank you xx

TellReign · 09/04/2025 08:33

Please can someone let me know the DLA address to send extra/new information to be added for a new and first claim that has not yet been looked at? Thank you

I was also paying for a spare bedroom but when my daughter was born this was also classed as full rent covered as my son can not share a room due to his differences in abilities (don't like using the word disability) so my UC covered cost of the full rent backdate to when my daughter was born. So this sounds like the case for yourself. If so I'm so happy for you! Some amazing news for you and for them to backdate it to your sd whenever that be... even more amazing! Trest yourself and your children well deserved! Well done @Mommyto2x xx

What a load of poo poo ! So they said they have until 5pm tomorrow... this just makes me think it's gonna be a rushed decision considering it's been with dm/cm for 4 weeks ... I have a feeling they've not even looked at it 😕 I'll be calling at 4.30pm tomorrow... and if there is still no decision, I'll be calling at 9am Friday cause this is just ridiculous.

Mumof1xox · 09/04/2025 09:46

@TippieTappyTara the waiting time is absolutely crazy and I didn’t even know the dm could take that long to decided.😳
