DLA WAITING TIME THREAD 67

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Fantastic news for you! Do you know if there is a reason you didn't get high rate mobility? Or was you not worried about that?

I do think my son meets the criteria for HRM, but I'm worried to challenge it, because I've seen some people do a MC and their award be lowered. I am so happy with his award as it is gonna be a massive help and support for his needs, and also so happy he got awarded for 5 years, as those forms are the worst x

Right so more of a question, on Thursday we will be 25wks MR .... do I call today or should I wait and call Thursday? Or do I call twice 🤣

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 07/04/2025 11:02

Received a decision and we’ve gone down to MCR from HCR and stayed on LRM. So will have to do a MR.

when was your renewal due to end please? Sorry you’re having to do MR I’m worried about the same thing happening. Renewal 28/04

Heyy!! I'm renewal date 09/06
Scan date 28/02
Not heard anything as if yet, from what I've been seeing it's usually 3 weeks before renewal date? Which seems forever away!
Hope this helps!

Hiya!

it’s so frustrating and I can’t imagine how everyone else feels with NC and COC! Really worrying about this one as this will hopefully be the last renewal before my DD goes over to PIP! I have seen a couple of July renewal dates that have been renewed already so fingers crossed we won’t be waiting much longer!

Still no update, she said they are working very closely to 25 weeks , so I guess I'll be calling Thursday ( i will probably check pending payments on Wednesday incase they decide before)

StanleyParents · 07/04/2025 13:51

I feel my son meets it under the SMI rules, so I used each rule as a heading and wrote about how I feel he meets it and where in my evidence I feel it's supported, luckily I was an assessor/marker in education so I'm hoping my signposting will help, I'll let you know what happens and maybe you can do an MR with something like this if you need too!

CherryFox25 · 07/04/2025 14:37

Still very impatiently waiting. Exactly 18 weeks today. Phoned this morning, still in queue and he said there’s still at least 7 weeks to wait yet until the 25 weeks. I’ll give it a few days and ring again. The wait is so stressful

Minnie83 · 07/04/2025 14:42

They are defo behind with nc, 2 years ago I have decision in 15 weeks. Nc this time round an on nearly 18 weeks waiting 🙈

My daughters renewal is due 05/06, forms sent on 18/02
I rang last weds to see if my extra evidence had been received amd they told me it was with a decision maker but said it could be with the decision maker for 6 months which was really confusing 😳 so I'm kind of hoping a decision is made with in the next 2 weeks.. i will certainly be ringing at the end of this month to see 😂

Mommyto2x · 07/04/2025 16:08

NC s/d - 22/11. Called option 2 and told decision has finally been made. Just on hold to option 4 now to try and find out what the decision is 🤞🏻

Just rang up, NC SD 04/12/24
awarded Mrc til 2026, only 3 so no mobility however will be waiting for letter to appeal for hrc as she has night time needs that keep me awake all night. Does anyone know if the decision is reconsidered and made hrc do uc backdate their disabled child element to the original scan date if it already was for the lower rate.

Mommyto2x · 07/04/2025 16:58

Got through!!!
HRC awarded! Absolutely over the moon for my little girl. No mobility as she’s only 2, which I expected anyway. Good luck everyone x

Can I ask what you sent to qualify for hrc please ?

HRC is qualified by showing your child has additional care needs through both the day and the night if it's only one or the other it will be middle rate

Hope that helps

Yeah she’s non verbal autistic (on waiting list) unaware of danger and doesn’t follow direction so has to be in pram, so definitely extra care through out the day, also unable to feed her self with cutlery so any thing for that I have to feed her. The night she’s awake for hours from about 1/2-half 5 then awake again for the day at 7. She also in nappies so has frequent changes during the day and atleast twice at night. Am I right in saying that she should qualify for hrc or is mrc right ?

How old is she? That would be the difference I believe

3 and a half

3 and a half

My daughter was 3 when she was awarded and got middle rate care even though she has care needs day and night, I didn’t have any evidence to back anything up at the time so I wonder if it’s that? I’ve just sent a coc form for her off today because she’s been diagnosed, has a ehcp in place and is waiting to be seen by what feels like a million people and the care needs have gone up.
