DLA WAITING TIME THREAD 67

zoeybrooks45 · 25/03/2025 10:48

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

I spoke to someone from contact about this as my son has recently been put on melatonin to help him sleep. I included it in my renewal alongside my doctor's reasoning and a clinical leaflet about it.

Unfortunately my son can not stand medicine in any way (even though it's a 2mm tablet) he just won't take it even disguised in other food etc.

I think the thing to mention about melatonin is it doesn't work with 100% accuracy, on the few occasions we did get it inside of him one time he was awake every few hours and another he woke up after being asleep for 2 hours ready to start the day!

They started my son on a low dose and it did nothing, now he has a higher dose with tiny tablets I’ve managed to get him to have them in his multi vitamin gummy, probably get told off for it but it’s the only way he will take it, still takes him 4-5 hours to fall to sleep after having it though. I will say though if taken for a whole week they do stop working, I let him have a break over the weekend and he’s awake til 3am and wakes up at 7am without fail

Anyone got a there review outcome for June renewal dates? My sons dla is due to end 9/06/25 but sent in renewal end of January when they sent out renewal pack. Thankyou x

Does any know how being on melatonin effects your award? My son is on melatonin and I’ve just done his renewal but wondered if it works in our favour as proving he has night time needs or as a negative because some nights it helps him to sleep all night?

My LO was prescribed melatonin the same week a decision from DLA was made but I asked on here if I should send his prescription over when I received it and I got mixed answers, someone said to send it because it’s evidence that he struggles with sleep and someone said not to because it could go against me that he is getting melatonin to help him sleep. I didn’t have time to send his prescription in as he was awarded the same day I received the prescription but my LO was awarded LRC so I would send it in my case as I think it would have helped my claim if I had more time too. Before melatonin my little one who is 3 was going to sleep around 12/1am and would wake up during the night but not for more than an hour at a time but could wake up a few times and I would wake him up for nursery at 9 but it’s like he was never going sound asleep and I couldn’t leave the room as he would wake up as soon as I did so I had to co sleep with him. But since he’s got melatonin he takes it at 8 and is sleeping by 9 and sleeps soundly until around 1/2am then he wakes up and he either will go back to sleep around 5/6am and sleeps until I wake him up at 9 or he’s awake from 1/2am so melatonin has been good for him getting him sound sleep for 4/5 hours but I’m just glad he isn’t bouncing off my walls for hours and having constant meltdowns because he is overtired.

29 weeks! Wow this wait is ridiculous, when I originally called over my COC was end of September and was told it would be around 8 weeks 🤣 when I rang last week I was told to ring back after 15 weeks and I was already on week 20 so he replied I mean 25 weeks... I don't think night can handle ringing again to be told 29weeks 🫣

@ByChirpy i know it’s absolutely shocking isn’t x

Hi, from what I've been told renewals aren't done by when they was sent in but by when they expire, the consensus here is about 3 weeks before your claim expires it should go to a decision maker.

Mine is due to end on the 4th May so expecting it to be looked at soon!

Hi, my son's old claim is due to end exactly 2 weeks today. They told me Monday it went to a decision maker. I called up Friday and still no decision. Really hoping I hear back this week 🤞🏼x

Renewal due 05/06
Sent forms back on 18/02
Was told on Wednesday it's already with a decision maker

Ginda94 · 06/04/2025 20:05

Hi my renewal is due to end on 30th April and i rang on Friday still not with a decision maker, hopefully it will be done by then

Sometimes there appears to be no rhyme nor reason with these people I was told renewals are prioritised by soonest expiring. Need to make sure my additional evidence is with them tomorrow, wonder when I'll hear back (I was a huge idiot and forgot to send my forms back until mid march for a may renewal)

Hi I've seen someone awarded on Facebook that was due to end on 23rd of April. My son's claim ends 20th April, really hoping I hear this week as his claim has been with a decision maker since last Monday x

Noname25 · 07/04/2025 07:33

Morning all. I got the uc backpayment today 🥳 2 weeks 3 days in total to process which I think is pretty quick! Good luck everyone waiting on decisions this week or chasing up the uc x

Leigh3 · 07/04/2025 07:37

With the renewals do we need to inform uc of the extended date? Or does it just continue rolling.

MAC000 · 07/04/2025 08:05

Hi, can someone please help, I sent off my sons renewal in Jan, it was due end of April. I have received a payment today of £172.20. He gets HRC and his last payment was the 25th March? This is our 1st renewal and I've no idea what this means? I will try to call at 9am. Thanks

I believe the new rates start from today must be something to do with that

Hi. NC SD 17/12. I have some additional information (new medication that my child has been prescribed and a change of education in that they are now s19 due to medical needs). Can I call DLA to report this over the phone? TIA x

Edited

From what I've read it tends to go to a decision maker about 3 weeks before claim is due to end

I spoke to them this morning and all my evidence has arrived and been scanned, fingers crossed now!

Positive renewal post.
Claim due to end 20th April
New award made 4th April
My son was originally receiving MRC LRM for 2 years, he has now been awarded HRC LRM for 5 years🥹 I felt like crying on the phone, I'm so happy my son's needs have been recognized and I don't have to do those horrible forms for another 5 years. Good luck to everyone still waiting on their decisions🤞🏼 x

Fantastic news for you! Do you know if there is a reason you didn't get high rate mobility? Or was you not worried about that?

This is amazing news! Congratulations!! I’ve been keeping an eye out for you. 🥳🥳🥳

Received a decision and we’ve gone down to MCR from HCR and stayed on LRM. So will have to do a MR.
