DLA WAITING TIME THREAD 67

zoeybrooks45 · 25/03/2025 10:48

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Does anyone know if decisions can be made on a weekend? X

PositivityRipples · 04/04/2025 13:29

@Kittenheaven23 You're welcome.. They will respond to you and say they will gather the info within the 28-30 legal time frame and they will ask for the child's birth certificate ( to prove you have parental responsibility) and if the child is 13 or above then written consent from the child to access the info..
I'm pretty sure my child's school was like s**t she's going to see all our internal emails and comms 😂🤣
The amount of emails between the school teachers senco the local authority and the EP and all the other agencies was like 230 pages long...
When I picked it all up I was like oh my god over 700 pages..
But atleast I have it all now and know what they are all talking about.. And it's a massive amount of evidence.

I cannot wait to see it all now and like you see what there saying about me like I said previously my son sounds just like your boy but not blind in 1 eye but everything else my son to a tee 😀 it will be an interesting read 🙈🤣x

Hi no I didn't receive a text I phoned last week Friday morning and the person said its with a decision maker so I rang again Monday and they said a decision was made Friday the same day, hope you hear soon x

StanleyParents · 04/04/2025 16:27

This waiting is killing me, I need to call next week just to double check all my additional evidence has been scanned, renewal date is the 4th May so a month from now.

3 weeks before the end date?

I heard between the last payment before the end date and the end date.

They tell everyone something different don't they!

So potentially next Friday!

In that case I better get on that phone Monday and make sure my extra evidence is there as it was delivered on Tuesday!

I know they are a nightmare. Yes my daughters end date was 18th of April and they made the decision 28th March, she stayed on the same HRC until 2027, I would phone Monday definitely x

I ended up calling again today, I was gonna try and wait till Monday, but with them saying it had been with a DM since Monday I thought maybe they may of made a decision. The man I spoke to says it's still with a DM, and he always says to me 'you've rang up quite a bit, you called twice yesterday', I replied yes I did ring up twice yesterday as I had noticed I had a phone call in my call log which says it was DWP, so wasn't sure if it was dla trying to contact me. I don't know why these call handlers apply for the job if they hate answering the phones to us😂 x

With my renewal date being a Sunday shall I presume it would be the working day before or after?

Applying for HRC and HRM due to his disability, nervous about getting it!

Hiya, I would of thought it would be the day before, because my son's old claim ends on Easter day, they told me to ring the beginning of that week as a decision will have to be made before because they are closed good Friday until the Tuesday with it being bank holiday. So fingers crossed it should be at least the day before x

I ended up calling yesterday and got told off for ringing twice in one week 😂 I’ll be ringing next week as we’re away the following week. My patience has been shot so we got into April! 😩

I don't understand why they get so annoyed, I appreciate that it may become repetitive saying the same things but that's the job, waiting months on end for anything is very frustrating

I feel like I've rang up quite abit since submitting my son's renewal, but I'm glad I have because they scanned his renewal on 27th December, then around 13th of January I received part of the form back as I had forgotten to fill in the part with my national insurance number. I called them up to say I was gonna post it straight out, the lady I spoke to says a decision had been made, but I was confused as the letter says a decision can't be made until I send the form back that I had forgotten to fill in. So after posting I waited a few weeks called them up to then be told that my case was closed, I was so confused😕 I got passed onto someone else to be told that they closed my son's case while they were waiting on me handing the forms back, I told them I had posed the forms back round about the 14th of January, and at this point it was the 18th of February, so they had to re-open the claim. So I'm so glad I called up quite abit otherwise my son's claim would of still been sitting their closed🫣😕.. I probably will call up again next week like, I might try and wait until next Friday, surely by then a decision will be made🤞🏼 fingers crossed you hear next week aswell x

StanleyParents · 04/04/2025 18:37

My biggest worry is my lack of organisation when sending this all through, despite my renewal being in may I didn't send all the forms till mid march, and although they've told me that's fine I can't help but worry! To be honest other than the royal mail confirmation I haven't had anything from them!

Sarahlou15 · 04/04/2025 18:44

Maybe people wouldn’t keep ringing if our letters didn’t say 15 weeks and we wouldn’t keep ringing if they didn’t tell us a different story every time some one rang
and done it in date order
what do they expect
and it doesn’t help when people are told it’s with a DM
like mine has been with. DM apparently for 8 weeks

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 04/04/2025 18:52

My renewal was received 10/12/24 heard nothing except to say received paperwork. I’m panicking as my DC award will stop on 18th April this month! I’ve rang a few times and all they say it will be done hopefully before 18th if not ring up on the 18th however my carers will stop if this happens. It’s so stressful I can’t focus on anything. Hope others hear back soon too.

coc sd 31/10 just phoned and been told 25-29wks

omg

29 weeks! Wow this wait is ridiculous, when I originally called over my COC was end of September and was told it would be around 8 weeks 🤣 when I rang last week I was told to ring back after 15 weeks and I was already on week 20 so he replied I mean 25 weeks... I don't think night can handle ringing again to be told 29weeks 🫣

Jell, was this a new claim ? My scan date is a day later than yours. And I’m anxiously waiting 😩

Pumpkinspice13 · 04/04/2025 21:24

@MumMummyBroandSGOmum yes it was a new claim. Hopefully you won’t have long to wait now!!

I think it's so wrong the way they do the whole dla system, I think it should be online so that we can see progress. And also I think renewals should always be done at least a month before they are due to end, to make sure that we are given enough time to inform universal credit so that carers and disabled child element are not stopped while waiting for a decision. Fingers crossed you hear back soon, I'm scared to ring again with the man being abit funny with me today saying that I had called yesterday aswell, it's their job to answer the calls, without us they wouldnt have that job😂😂 x

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 04/04/2025 21:57

@Mamto3boysX I hope you hear back soon too. You wouldn’t have to keep ringing up if like you said you could see the progress online or at least get regular updates. I’m calling up again Monday (rang Wednesday) as I can’t risk being forgotten about.

Would be so much easier if we could see updates, I'm really hoping to hear back next week with a decision, as it's would of been with a decision maker since Monday. I've got my fingers crossed for you to hear back real soon, my son's claim ends on the 20th. You'll have to let me know what they say Monday🤞🏼. If I've not heard anything by next Friday I'm going to give a call then x

s39 · 04/04/2025 22:43

Looks like they moving quite quickly with NC seen afew now awarded with December dates but MRs and COC seem to be stuck on October!

SoapyMcSoapface · 05/04/2025 00:23

PositivityRipples · 04/04/2025 09:41

@SoapyMcSoapface Sorry just seen you had tagged me in your question..
Yes absolutely send that as additional evidence especially if your child masks at school and you haven't sent any previous school incidences for inappropriate / unmasked behaviour as it will support your claim and also if the DM was to contact the school and they sugar coat things or say your child is okay at school the DM has that report from you that contradicts that.. I know the tracked postage is alot and you're probably close to a decision but if that 1 piece of evidence changes the DMs mind between rates it's totally worth sending it..
Good luck keep us updated on your progress 🤞🏼

Thanks for your advice, @PositivityRipples I have sent it off this afternoon: £8.35 🫣 but it should be there Monday. I’ve realised it’s the 4th lot of £8.35 I have spent sending in bits of new evidence. Ouch! 😅
