Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Justanothermum31 · 02/04/2025 11:34

@Sarahlou15 I called this morning and spoke to a case manager she said they are currently working on claims from 8/10 so it will still take a couple weeks. I don’t think they get picked up before the 25th week, even if it’s been with a case manager for however long.

They still haven't contacted you? That is ridiculous! Just keep onto them I know back payments are supposedly taking a while but to not even acknowledge your change of circumstances is strange

Hey, just looking for some advice - I updated UC 2 weeks ago and they’ve verified my daughter who doesn’t get DLA but not my son who now does, and they said that the verification team are independent so can’t give a timescale, is this a usual thing? Never done this before

Just Google independent case examiner if not cab you not go into the jobcentre or do you have tk make an appointment x

Justanothermum31 · 02/04/2025 16:51

Hi does anyone know about the benefit cap? Will universal credit back date the benefit cap they have been taking back to the start of the dla award? I few people have said they do but it would be such a high amount it doesn’t seem realistic? Not the disabled child element, the money the remove for benefit cap will that be backdated ?

Katie20255 · 02/04/2025 17:04

Hi long time here and finally found out my child received the dla was a NC SD 26/11/2025 I have a few questions it's been 18 weeks and 1 day and she received 2480.15 I can't work out what she received as in care and mobility?

also I updated my universal credit and received this message?Once your daughter has been reverified on your claim i will send a backdating request to a decision maker to backdate the disabled child element on your statement to align with the date your daughter was awarded DLA.do you get denied the back payment and how long does it take? Many thanks

Hi,
2480 / 18 weeks gives a weekly figure of (roughly) £137 a week, based on the rates I would assume that is
High rate care and low rate mobility

Hope that helps!

I found actual dwp complaints email for Uc on government website so ive done it that way. Will see if i hear back x

intoFolklore · 02/04/2025 19:06

Hey everyone, I put a complaint in to UC for the amount of time it has taken to be backdated (disability element and carers element) and I received this message today. Do they usually keep to their time frame?

This was for my older sons DLA, I am actually waiting to hear back from DLA about my younger sons claim (SD 12.12) as they are both disabled with the same condition.

I would say so

I would say so

Even after a complaint where its been escalated?

intoFolklore · 02/04/2025 19:27

The complaint was filed via the official UC complaints procedure, rather than me just commenting on my journal complaining
