DLA WAITING TIME THREAD 67

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Hi does anyone know about the benefit cap? Will universal credit back date the benefit cap they have been taking back to the start of the dla award? I few people have said they do but it would be such a high amount it doesn’t seem realistic? Not the disabled child element, the money the remove for benefit cap will that be backdated ?

@Justanothermum31 Yes the benefit cap will be lifted and removed from the start of your child's dla award any money they've capped and own you will be backdated and paid when they backdate the disabled child element, request it in your journal 💫

Justanothermum31 · 02/04/2025 19:48

@PositivityRipples thank you for that 🙂 my cap is ridiculously high nearly £400 so it all seems to good to be true, just checking.

I've had to continuously message - I then put a message through via payments and had an answer within the afternoon but they haven't backdated the disabled child element (son gets HRC, LRM) and only backdated carers, so now we're going through it all again for DCE ! x

Hopefully not long, mine is due to end on the 4th May, I was told that there should be a decision made between the last payment and the end date so I'm hoping around the 29th April but we will see!

My last payment is on the 15th of April, I did call up a few days ago to double check extra evidence has been scanned, and the lady I spoke to says for me to ring up week commencing 14th, as she says they are closed for good Friday then the bank holiday with it being Easter. Im thinking of trying my luck and ringing next Friday on the 11th. Hopefully not to long for you to find out aswell x

Good luck to you, my last bits of evidence arrived yesterday so will give them a call mid next week to make sure it's been scanned in! Really hoping we don't have a battle on our hands for him!

Scaffwife · 03/04/2025 09:24

I can honestly see them upping the deadline to 30 weeks soon to cover themselves as so many are going over 25 weeks now

Does anyone please have the correct address to send supporting evidence to if it's urgent - IE not the freepost?

I've been told our application will be decided in the next two weeks, but I've just received DD's ADHD report (claim was applied for on autism only) so I want them to be aware of that too.

I hadn’t heard anything from the middle of march March so I had to keep messaging and put a message through as payment to get a response and then the money for carers element went in today but now got to wait again for the disabled child element x

So I jus rang just to see if it was with decision maker new claim sd 6/1/2025 she wouldn't look she just said it'll take 25 weeks to go to a decision maker and how ever long it takes the decision maker to make the decision she was like let me look at calender she's like oh so end of June for it to go to the decision maker anytime after then I'll get decision. That is so long! My child has a rare genetic disorder and has autism traits preverbal still on baby food he's 4 in november

TheSnappyTurtle · 03/04/2025 12:31

I’m so tempted to call again even though I was told no decision 3 days ago. I really don’t know what’s worse, waiting to see if you get awarded as NC or waiting to see if they’re going to take it away at renewal 😩😩
