DLA WAITING TIME THREAD 67

zoeybrooks45 · 25/03/2025 10:48

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Hi has anyone ever had a phonecall from UC regarding backdated payment?

I have had the letter from dm to say special circumstances and they will backdate disabled child element to date of dla award.
I then put a note in my journal asking if amount could be calculated and when would it be paid. I had a missed call today from dwp an when I went into journal there was a note saying they tried to call me to discuss backdated payment and could I let them know when is a good time to call me again.
I dont know why they would need to speak to me about it, has anyone else had this?x

Have you put in a complaint? DWP will follow up with you to make sure you’re happy it’s been resolved.

No I've not put a complaint in, it's only been a few weeks since I put change of circumstances in and I've only left 3 notes in my journal. 1 saying what the change was, 1 saying I can see details have been verified and 1 saying I've had letter from dm so can they let me know amount and date it will be paid. That was on Friday and I got the missed call and note in my journal today x

I would say the decision had only just been made, I would call in the morning, it sounds like the last person was just telling you script 😵‍💫

It could go either way only because I’ve never heard them use the words about the case being closed, it might just be that the decision had just been done so they couldn’t see it on the system yet, but if it is a decline ask to do a MR because from what you have said it sounds like she should qualify, good luck I hope you get a positive outcome 🤞

I mean I am trying REALLY hard to not think about it but it's just a ridiculous amount of time. How are people way behind us being awarded. Unbelievably frustrating.

I know. I'm glad people are getting decisions faster from November scan dates but we've been waiting so long now. There was someone on the last thread who got a decision in week 23 which gives me hope mine is not a decline. 22 weeks now!

I’m currently in week 22 from October it’s horrible I like to work money out a year in advance or it gives me anxiety

Whatalongwait · 01/04/2025 09:54

Fingers crossed for you. Surely they can't take too much longer!

I’m trying to call now as got a weird response when called yesterday

TippieTappyTara · 01/04/2025 10:01

MR SD 17/10/24 .... 24wks (thursday) called today same script so I'll be calling next Friday then it will be past 25wks.
Asked about my son turning 5 in June (decision depending) due to mobility and she said they'll send a letter out and have to do a new claim ... is that true? Or would it be a coc ?

So my case got closed without a decision on the 10th they reopened it yesterday and apparently it’s now being put to a decision maker so someone made a mistake

That is awful. What are they playing at? Hopefully it will be looked at as a priority now.

Whatalongwait · 01/04/2025 10:27

@TippieTappyTara I'm no expert, but I think because it's so close they wil make the decision regarding mobility now but you won't be paid it until he turns five. I hope that makes sense.

Ino I also rang multiple times and no one told me till yesterday the man on the phone today said I should now have a decision within two weeks and he has also put a note on for me to receive a text when the decision is made

StanleyParents · 01/04/2025 10:53

Final bits of evidence have officially been posted for our renewal, claim ends on the 4th May, next payment 15th April so hopefully will have a decision before the end of April, hoping these bank holidays don't mess things up too much!

Really hoping they review his evidence thoroughly, convinced he should get HRC and HRM, but the person making that decision will never see how challenging his behaviour is.

Also got a nc in from the 26th March, in for a long wait for that one!

My last payment under the current award is 15th April too, due to end on the 28th I’ll keep you updated. Hope you get a good outcome. I currently get HRC LRM on a 2 year award. Hoping to stay the same with a longer award, if it drops to MRC but a 5 year award I may leave it as I’d be so happy with a longer award length even though I know she’s entitled to HRC but anything less I’ll be doing an MR.

What did you send as part of the renewal?

Vicki469 · 01/04/2025 12:45

Hey, so I’ve never claimed anything like this before, but wanted some advise as I’m just about to send my form back in to the dla.

I have 4 children, and my youngest daughter who is 8 (9 in June) has severe behavioural problems, I’m still waiting for her to be assessed as I did the right to choose pathway and she’s still on the waiting list so waiting for a phone call any day. Anyway, she will physically hit out at anyone near to her, throw things. Jump out of moving cars and has even poured boiling water over her older brothers hand resulting in superficial burns. When I ask her why she tells me she can’t tell me, she does gym and goes to a childminders and they have all said she has ADHD and when she’s at school, she’s very fidgety, can’t stop and it always getting told off. But school have said they can’t see anything. The right to choose group I have picked (clinical partners) have also said ODD as well as ADHD but won’t know for sure till she is assessed.
I don’t have any support within the school as they won’t give her it, so no care plan or any other healthcare workers working with her, but it’s really hard to manage her and if anything is getting worse. I will have to restrain her some days due to the violence. So I’ve not been able to send off any evidence with the form, but the school and my childminder has signed it. My childminder sees her behaviours and has also has the attempts of her trying to jump out of the moving car, but school don’t see this as home is her safe place really as well as the childminders. So I’m not sure if I’m wasting my time with it as she doesn’t have a diagnosis yet. Any help would be appreciated

What did you send as part of the renewal?

I sent ASD and ADHD diagnostic report. It includes many of her struggles but also some positive that I think they could take wrong eg my daughter attending gymnastics. It doesn’t say in it that she’s in the 5-7y old class when she’s almost 11, and she doesn’t do it anymore but she was in it at the time of the assessment. Confirmation from school that she’s on the sen register and her struggles there plus not understanding danger. I didn’t send one piece of evidence last time because I didn’t realise but we were awarded first time and I wasn’t on this thread.

Hey hun. How long did you wait to receive any acknowledgement from Uc regarding disability element please? I have updated the changes and requested for it to be backdated via my journal but have not had a single response.
