DLA WAITING TIME THREAD 67

zoeybrooks45 · 25/03/2025 10:48

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Change of circumstances for dla - they received 9th October. I’m on week 25 and still no change!! Do we know current waiting times x

@TheSnappyTurtle I got a decision went from high care to low care rate put in mandatory request long battle ahead now haven’t stopped crying since I rang xx

I’m so sorry that’s your outcome. It’s exactly what I’m afraid of. I can completely understand why you’re upset especially if you’re on UC and getting the extra elements on there too. I’m currently on HRC LRM. Fight with MR. Don’t give up.

A decision still hasn't been made🫣 I spoke to a lovely lady tho who chased up evidence that I sent in almost 3 weeks ago, she called me back to let me know that the evidence is now with my son's claim. She says for me to ring up around the 15th as they are closed for food Friday and the bank holiday with it being Easter. My son's claim is due to end on Easter day. She says a decision should definitely be made that week. I'm getting so anxious as the date gets closer x

I’m on hold now and a week after you. Seen a few Aprils this morning very close to your date. I’m 28th. Just checking the extra evidence has been scanned on as it is her diagnosis of ASD and ADHD. I’ve read it so many times since the renewal and worried about the positive comments. Not sure if the school will back me up as we’ve only been there a year. I’ll keep you updated on my call. Good luck!

NickiB85 · 31/03/2025 14:18

They said last week that at week 25 it will automatically sent to a decision maker and then held in their queue. The lady I spoke to today said they shouldn’t have said that and that’s not the case. The mind boggles!! Stressing me out now, i clearly lack patience lol x

Daryl54 · 31/03/2025 14:36

@TheSnappyTurtle thankyou I am on uc so will be losing a lot good luck with yours and hope you get your outcome 🙂 my mr got to be done by 25th April but never done one before so don’t know even know how to start it all xx

Gem1402 · 31/03/2025 12:56

So roughly like 2 weeks? Did it go straight onto your claim x

I got a letter in my journal on the 21st of March saying that the decision maker has reviewed the reason for late COC and has agreed that special circumstances apply, then on the 27th I got another letter on my journal saying they have worked out what i was entitled to and that they have updated my payments and I was due a back pay, so I replied to the letter and asked when I would receive the back pay and they said today X

Betsy93 · 31/03/2025 14:42

Only a month into my scan date and it feels like sooooo much longer!! 😵‍💫😵‍💫

Long time Lurker! - NC SD 26/11, Awarded 29/11. Middle Rate care.

Universal credit question, when updating UC do I need the award letter to input that we now get DLA for our son and to backdate the awards?

TheSnappyTurtle · 31/03/2025 15:11

SD 17/12/2024
Renewal date 28/04/2024

extra evidence was received 27/03 and scanned. No decision yet. I didn’t expect one because I still have one more payment under my current award. I’m going to ring afterwards. The lady was lovely on the phone, told me to call after the final payment to see if they’ve made the decision because letters are taking two weeks.

Is that how they do it then? I have one more award on the 15th April before the claim ends on the 4th May

All they told me was it would be decided before the renewal date of the 4th. Hoping to send final information in tomorrow!

Senmummy1234 · 31/03/2025 16:06

I’m dreading this my renewal ends end of may ans really stressing although since his last award we now have a diagnosis of autism a blue badge and tourtttes and a really detailed speech and language report. Hearing so many horror stories of people not being awarded. Have sent his ados assessment and his iep. I’m praying it’s enough. Good luck all x

CherryFox25 · 31/03/2025 16:08

17 week today from scan date. I’m so impatient. Is there any point ringing for an update? Or do I just sit back and wait?

Poobs2022 · 31/03/2025 16:45

Anyone still waiting on a NC from end of Oct?

Good luck!

Mine is due for renewal beginning on May.

His needs have only become more prevalent as he has got older, have already sent off the renewal form alongside his EHCP and Speech and Language Therapy report

Tomorrow I am sending in a few paediatrician letters alongside his referrals to Occupational Therapy and I've written a 4 page document about his additional needs.

Not leaving anything to chance!

You don’t necessarily need the award letter for UC as long as you know the exact date your DLA award is being backdated too. I didn’t send anything just put a message on the payment bit. You don’t need to send it for proof or anything like that, not exactly sure how it works but I’m guessing they contact DLA to make sure you have been awarded X

Me. NC scan date 29/10. Been with a decision maker since 6th March.

I mean I am trying REALLY hard to not think about it but it's just a ridiculous amount of time. How are people way behind us being awarded. Unbelievably frustrating.

kay799 · 31/03/2025 19:27

DLA went to tribunal (paper) and they changed it to say face to face. This was oct 24. Any idea of timeframe?

TheSnappyTurtle · 31/03/2025 19:40

My last payment is the 15th April aswell. She said they like to make it flow straight from one award onto the next. But the call handlers all say different things so I don’t want to say for certain although what she said does make sense. I think I’ll call on the 22nd as there will be more oppurtunity of actually getting answer than the day after 😂

Omg I'm waiting on a paper dla tribunal i know everyone is saying it's better if you turn up but I just can't ill be a stuttering quivering nervous wreck have they given you a reason as to why they've changed it I've read 6-12months wait I've been waiting since 20th Dec I just want it over and done with either way 😬

kay799 · 31/03/2025 19:48

@Kittenheaven23 the judge said it was in the best interests of justice for me to be able to explain my son's disability and how it affects him. I was hoping it would go through on paper (like you would be nervous in front of people) but also hoping that the judge called me in it could be positive! I already waited 6mths plus for paper decision and now been waiting since Oct 24 with no face to face date.

Duchess89 · 31/03/2025 19:58

Hi I just wanted to know if anyone has been in the same situation. I posted the completed DLA forms for a new claim on Wednesday 12th march, I phoned today and they are not even scanned on to the system and there’s no record of it yet. I posted them using the envelope they give you and just did it freepost. How long does it take to get them on the system? I’m worried it’s lost and I spent so much time on it, it’s also got a lot of my sons medical information.

Yes i think this is a positive for you aswell it's a joke how they have had you waiting all that time and now you have to wait even longer it's so much stress isn't it i hope you get your date soon x

Noname25 · 31/03/2025 21:09

Hi has anyone ever had a phonecall from UC regarding backdated payment?

I have had the letter from dm to say special circumstances and they will backdate disabled child element to date of dla award.
I then put a note in my journal asking if amount could be calculated and when would it be paid. I had a missed call today from dwp an when I went into journal there was a note saying they tried to call me to discuss backdated payment and could I let them know when is a good time to call me again.
I dont know why they would need to speak to me about it, has anyone else had this?x
