DLA WAITING TIME THREAD 67

zoeybrooks45 · 25/03/2025 10:48

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Hi could anyone help me with updating UC please? I have told them that my child is now getting dla and I’ve put a message requesting back pay of the disabled child element but I am unsure what to do about carer’s element. One of my other children also gets dla and I am receiving the carer’s element, so am I right in thinking I can’t claim this element again even though I am looking after 2 children that receive dla? Also if this is the case would my husband be able to claim it for our younger child instead? He works if that makes any difference. Thank you x

That's correct can only claim 1 carers.
Yes your husband should be able to claim it.

Yes you can care for as many people as you can but you can only claim for 1 and yes your husband can claim but can only be earning inthink its about £150 a week anything over you have to pay carers back or something like that dont
hold me to them figures tho

Hi all sorry I got locked from my account I posted on the last thread my LG got awarded HRM age 3 under the SMI rules for severe autism - I sent very detailed evidence doctors consultants etc. it’s doable but worth noting only 8% of all DLA claimants get HRM.
we are awarded for 10 years I believe - also think they’re clamping down massively now because of everything in the press. I was expecting to have to go to tribunal but so glad we don’t. Good luck to everyone else trying for HRM 🤞🏻

Great news for you!

Pursuing HRM for my son with this renewal, absolutely feel the evidence provided shows not only his need for care around the clock (he doesn't not sleep very well and is on melatonin to try and help him sleep) but that his mobility needs are substantial also, he has severe autism with a learning disability and is mostly non verbal. Most people think this is enough but you just never actually know!

Has anyone claimed with just an ADHD diagnosis? I’ve sent loads of evidence with my claim and I’ve really got a feeling my daughter isn’t going to qualify. I know there’s still a few weeks before the 25 weeks is up but my gut instinct telling me it’s going to be refused. I rang last week and the lady told me it was in a holding queue

My son got awarded mrc and lrm with no diagnosis while on waiting list for neuro diverse assessments. I'm now waiting to hear back for renewal that is due to end on 20th of April, my son now has a autism diagnosis, he only just got diagnosed on 4th of March, I'm back at cahms next week to find out if they are diagnosing him also with ADHD. It goes on care needs and not diagnosis. I am hoping with his diagnosis he may be awarded for a longer period of time. He was only awarded for 2 years with his first claim x

That’s good to know then. I didn’t know that you didn’t need a diagnosis. That helps ease my feelings a little. Im waiting for the autism test also, but I’m guessing the waiting list for that is just as long as the ADHD waiting list.

Thank you for your help.

Hope all goes well for you and your son.

That’s pretty much everything that I sent so you should definitely get an award, I did send a prescription of his melatonin to help prove sleep issues, and a copy of his ehcp too, if you don’t have an ehcp I would highly recommend one for adhd children, wish I got my sons earlier x

Hi I updated my uc the other day to let them know that my son has been awarded dla and to request back pay. I have just had a text message saying there is a message on my uc account but when I’ve logged in there is no message. Does this just mean they’re verifying my son’s new details? Thank you
