DLA WAITING TIME THREAD 67

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

This is what I'm trying to figure out too! On a few Facebook groups some people have said 3-5 days, some have said 2 weeks and some a couple months! So I have no idea 😅 We got notification to say they'll backdate it on Monday and nothing has been updated on our statements or anything so I have no idea x

There’s two letters, 1 to say they’ll back pay which is from the decision maker and 1 to say how much which is from the agent because they’re the ones that work out what UC owe. If you haven’t had confirmation for the amount ask how much and when and it should push them to work it out for you. It’s usually a couple working days after that. How long has it been since you made the change of circumstances? If it’s been longer than 4 weeks, make a complaint using this link

In the letter it says changes will be shown in monthly statement so looks like they might add it to next month but I'm not sure. I think some people struggle to even get the changes verified and for the dm to make a decision on backdating to date of award so its good we've at least had that conformation. I might put a note in journal asking when it will be paid x

Ahh thank you this is helpful. It's only been a couple of weeks so I thought we were doing quite well for changes to be verified and dm to say it can be backdated in that short space of time. I'll write again in journal and ask if they can now calculate the amount for me. Thanks x

Thank you!

My son was awarded on the 7th March, I told UC straight away and made the relevant changes on my account. They only just approved it on Monday with the letter to say special circumstances apply and that they'll backdate it and will be shown in statements. I've left a couple messages in my journal but nothing. We think we've roughly worked it out but not entirely sure. x

Unless it’s change from when I had my back dated payments 2 years ago, they were always separate from universal payments, the back dated DLA elemement of universal/ backdated carers and back dated DLA payments went it at random times of the day, mine were never held on to until my universal payment or related to my universal date if that makes sense x

Yes we were LRC only for just 1 year - how strange, definitely same decision maker! I'm really in 2 minds about an MR - we have results of an ADHD assessment in 2 weeks so may well just try for MR anyway if that comes through in time...

@DrGee you can put in for a MR and say why you disagree with their decision ect and it's a 20 week wait approximately at the moment so you have 20 weeks to send additional evidence so you could forward the adhd report ect and anything else as you get it..
It's got to be the same DM for us.. But with a MR a different DM looks at it 💫
Good luck with whatever you choose to do

Hi, I’m applying for the mobility element for my 3 year old, he also gets HRC.
Will this count as a new claim or a COC, does anyone know?
Thank you xx

How many days has it been since you wrote on the journal? When I made a complaint DWP told me they have 2-5 working days max to atleast respond to message. If it’s been longer than that, put in the complaint under payment. I’ve had to do this 3 times and each time it was done the next working day.

NC SD 21.11

Called on 24.3 this week, told it has just been given to a DM and to call back today for news. Called this morning at 9am (option 4), answered immediately and was told decision made 26.3 awarded MRC and LRM until Nov 2026. Back pay of £1834.30 should arrive within 3-5 working days.

Hi my daughters claim is going through renewal and the end date is 18th April , I've just called for an update and they said its been assigned to a decision maker but not looked at yet, does that mean any day now i could get the decision? My scan date is 16/12, thanks.

Whatalongwait · 28/03/2025 12:45

New Claim SD 29/10. Still no decision.

I just called and got through after 10 minutes on hold.

I'm starting to think the decision maker has forgotten me. Had it since 6th March!

CherryFox25 · 28/03/2025 13:26

How many times a week have people rang
for an update? I only rang up Wednesday and they said it’s in a holding cue

Hi my son's old claim is due to end 20th of April, I called Tuesday and wasn't with a DM. Fingers crossed you hear back soon. I'm trying not to ring up until a week before lol fingers crossed we get a decision soon🤞🏼x

Katie20255 · 28/03/2025 15:33

Meggymeggy98 · 28/03/2025 15:48

Always worth sending more information in if you think it supports your claim!

Disability Benefit Centre 4, Post Handling Site B, Wolverhampton, WV99 1BY

You should also include your child's name and dob on the top of all documents.

Have you received a letter from them confirming receipt? I believe it has a reference number you should put on it

Anyone have any other advice?

Thankyou. My daughter has suddenly quite a lot of stuff happening next week and things to support her claim so I will send it in.
No I've not had a letter yet. Just a text to say it's been received and to expect 25 week wait.

Thankyou, I know so frustrating the wait, I'll phone back next week Friday see what they say. Fingers crossed you hear back soon too. I will let you know if you haven't heard before me x

I spoke with someone on Wednesday that said renewals are always prioritised so if you haven't heard anything a week before renewal date give them a call, I had so much anxiety over sending in the renewal later, hopefully that is true!

Absolutely, we had the same with my son's renewal, sent it in then got loads of letters from his paediatrician confirming everything that we had written, really gives me hope for his renewal!

Chedder123 · 28/03/2025 21:39

Finally my turn! After first submitting in April 2024 and having to do an MR 4/10 I was awarded today for HRC! After a total decline, don’t give up! I called this morning option 4 and they said a Decision was made but as a letter had not been generated they count tell me, got a call from the same lady later in the day to tell me the award. So happy I could cry 😭 feeling like my sons finally being recognised that he’s going through such a hard time for his age!

Butterflywings92 · 28/03/2025 23:08

Hi all - long time lurker NC SD 25/11. I sent off extra evidence on the 6th March by special delivery, I have the tracking info which shows it was received. I had a phone call off a case manager yesterday regarding a question id accidentally missed on the form and I asked to make sure new evidence had been scanned on and it hasn’t. She said not to worry, if I have the proof it arrived then it will be scanned on and that new claims are taking 25 weeks so plenty of time before it gets assigned..they seem to be getting through November pretty quick and everyone I have asked said their evidence was scanned pretty much straight away. Worried it’ll be seen without it now and it’s pretty crucial evidence too (ehcp and physio support letter 🙃) has anyone else had an issue with possibly lost evidence?

MistandFog2024 · 29/03/2025 14:18

Hi could anyone help me with updating UC please? I have told them that my child is now getting dla and I’ve put a message requesting back pay of the disabled child element but I am unsure what to do about carer’s element. One of my other children also gets dla and I am receiving the carer’s element, so am I right in thinking I can’t claim this element again even though I am looking after 2 children that receive dla? Also if this is the case would my husband be able to claim it for our younger child instead? He works if that makes any difference. Thank you x
