Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Had my childs award letter through today thought it was interesting to share that her HRC seems to be based only on that she needs help with bodily functions throughout the day and night. I dont know if they took anything else into account but this is what they've based her award on. Also LRM is based on that she needs guidance on walking routes that are unfamiliar. Again I don't know if everything else was taken into account or completely disregarded.
Does anyone know if they would state more things in award letter if they had been taken into account or do they take other things into account but just state the main thing that award has been based on? Im not sure if that makes sense? Trying to gauge if they ignored the majority of the stuff I sent in. I know she's been awarded which is great but I feel like I want more information on how it was awarded.

Also on her award letter it says the evidence they used to decide was: info from claim form, a medical report I sent and other information sent to them. I'm interested to know which medical report as I sent a few and also what information they had sent to them, if I ring and ask can they give me more detail on this?

My LB is 3 and a half so I only sent a report from first paediatrician appointment in June saying they are moving forward with an autism assessment, 3 speech and language appointments letters and an occupational therapy report after a phone call appointment with them. He didn’t start nursery until November but a couple weeks ago an educational psychologist came to see him but I’ve not sent in any evidence from nursery or educational psychologist. Sounds like you’ve sent good enough evidence and the school is backing you up which is positive. It’s obviously care needs they go by which I wish I stressed out my LB’s more the first time round, I was too busy making sure I sent enough evidence and not actually updating and making sure i stressed out his day and night needs😬
Fingers crossed for you this week, I’ll keep an eye out on you updating😊

Thank you, 🤞🏻 your late evidence is seen to quickly! My daughter is almost 7, her issues are mainly sensory which leads to a meltdown and just no awareness of danger which is stressful. I wrote a MR linking all evidence just in case she’s declined and then will amend to statement of reasons too 😂

on the forms it’s quite confusing that night time needs are when they go to bed which doesn’t take into account those that you can’t get to sleep! My older son is ADHD/Autism diagnosed and melatonin doesn’t work for him. They told us to up his dose give it every few days. But in his last appointment said don’t give it to him at all as it takes him hours to go to sleep on it and he’s extremely violent in those house (I’m assuming it’s the fighting sleep). It’s just my luck it doesn’t work for him so I’m exhausted all the time as I have to wake up early for work then only get to bed late because I can’t go to sleep until he is 😫. I don’t know if they’d prescribe it for my daughter in future appointments as I do think it’ll work for her as she isn’t violent even when she’s having a meltdown, it probably would just help her settle to sleep.

Same scan date as you ZippyMintHedgehog and same feelings too 😓 although maybe I’m 15/11. I feel like my brain can’t handle this stress. I need to go check the date now

Edited

It’s just such a long wait, and feels even worse that people seem to find out around 18-20 weeks 😫. I’m starting to wonder if mine has fell off the desk 😂

Haha mine too!

I hope that the cleaner doesn’t sweep them away!

😵‍💫 can’t face filling that all in again

I would like to know the same as my son was awarded just like yours x

Is that what your award letter said too?
Id just like to know if they ever list more reasons or if they usually only list one reason. Just so I know what was relevant in her application and what wasn't when it came down to it. I'd send everything the same as I did if I had to do it again because it's all relevant to my child but it's interesting to know which bits they pay attention to and which bits they don't.
I might call later in the week and ask if they can give more information.

Yeah mine said exactly the same, it would help to know exactly what it’s for when the renewal comes up

PositivityRipples · 24/03/2025 20:32

@Kidsanchaos
The care component of dla is awarded purely on bodily functions and that goes for everybody..
It means anything related to how the body works
Basic needs - eating drinking sleeping waking up getting dressed and undressed
Personal care - washing bathing toileting managing medication
Communication and learning - speaking hearing seeing, any help needed with communication, social skills and learning.

So you've been awarded high rate care as your child needs help with any of the above several times a day and through the night.

Congrats on your award 💫

That's what I was thinking too.
Just seen a reply from positivity ripples that explains it better than the letter does what she's said makes more sense as I was thinking they were just talking about 1 particular thing but looks like it's pretty much anything to do with the body.

Thank you this makes so much more sense. The letter made it sound like they had focused on one particular thing and so I was thinking have they disregarded everything else but what you've said explains it better. So they take all those aspects of bodily functions under one umbrella term so to speak.

Still wondering about who they sent off for information from do you know if they would be able to tell me that on the phone or not?

25+2 weeks with COC sd 28/09 and finally its with a DM! Hoping this one works quick and we have an answer one way or another by the end of this week! She did say theres a note on there for DM to send me a text when a decision is made what are the chances of this happening!

Hi there mine is 26 September coc please update me if u hear anything thanks

StanleyParents · 24/03/2025 21:02

Starting to get worried here, took a long time to complete the renewal form and it's due on the 5th May, sent the forms off on Thursday using first class signed for and they still haven't arrived according to royal mail tracking... What is going to happen? Is it worth calling them to explain the situation?

1senmum2another · 24/03/2025 21:09

DrGee · 24/03/2025 18:31

Oh gosh well done! I’m SD 22/11 so getting quite worried now we’ll be in MR territory soon - I did call just once at 16 week mark and was told not to call again until 25 weeks minimum 🫣

Im also 22/11 called today for update and not yet with a Dm, but its in the queue to go to one any day now x

I called Friday to say I’d be sending more evidence. They asked what it was I just explained, he said yeah that would be good. But wasn’t with DM and was awarded Saturday HRC. So there is hope! Good luck ladies fingers are crossed for you! Xx

emalea · 24/03/2025 21:19

I have updated UC like lady on phone told me to, does anyone know how long they take to come back to you?

Oh that sounds promising! I feel like the wait feels longer when you edge closer to “decision time” most people seem to be around 19 week mark so there’s still a little bit of hope for me 🤞🏻

NoWordForFluffy · 25/03/2025 05:16

Good news!

Woken to a back payment of almost £3k. So I think it's LRC and LRM (called for forms on 7 March last year!).

To think I almost didn't do an MR!

TheZippyMintHedgehog · 25/03/2025 05:36

NC 23 weeks today! Pending payment in bank for tomorrow. So surprised, was convinced it was a decline as we’ve been waiting a lot longer than everyone else it seemed like.

NoWordForFluffy · 25/03/2025 06:13

Well done, @TheZippyMintHedgehog! Can you tell the rates?

At least it means I can get DD new PE kit if hers doesn't show up this week.

Surely you next, @PSO123! Mine must've been decided on Friday, so you have to be soon.

Chedder123 · 25/03/2025 06:45

I’ve seen of some of you with MRs after my date get a decision. Anyone else’s date around 2/10 does that normally mean a decline? I did call yesterday and no decision was made but they said there is a note to call me before any decision is made as I sent in late evidence that’s not yet been scanned on (or gone walk abouts) with new crucial info. They told me my 25 weeks is 26th March so that’s tomorrow… LOOSING THE WILLLLLL 😆

Furbz0 · 25/03/2025 06:48

Called DLA as received a letter saying my carers allowance was going to stop.....

scan date for COC 31/10/24
renewal scan date 17/01/25

Was told the letter was an automated one sent around the renewal. Said it's a scary letter and they shouldnt be sending them.

Told I should hear by the 5th April but it's not with a DM yet
