DLA WAITING TIMES THREAD 66

zoeybrooks45 · 10/03/2025 14:50

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

I sent evidence Thursday they received Friday I want to ring to check they have got it but then I'd have no other reason to call after so may leave a few days 🤣

I'd ring just to check I actually think it's only thing they do in a hurry lol x

Mummyof5kiddos · 24/03/2025 14:47

How does a COC work? Do i complete the new claim form again or is it just the changes that needs to be sent in?

Maybe depends what your applying for we was applying for mobility she already gets high rate care so on the coc form you can tick no changes to the care needs and then just complete the mobility questions x

Can’t believe your still waiting, I got a payment in bank then received the award letter the day after. But the made a decision on the 13th March and I got the payment on the 19th March and i was calling for a few days after a decision was made and they still wouldn’t tell me anything🙈 hopefully you hear some good news🤞🏽

I am glad to hear you have been awarded, such a long wait but worth it :)

me on the other hand I am going to be gutted to wait all this time for a decline :(. I just don’t understand why I’m still waiting 😂. I patiently waited till around 18-20 weeks but now it is just frustrating. I feel like I sent enough evidence to show her struggles but seeing people with similar children with similar struggles and evidence declined I don’t hold much hope now.

I’m happy mine wasn’t a decline but my LO was awarded LRC because I didn’t update on his sleep which got worse from when I first put the evidence and forms in October and he was prescribed melatonin 2 weeks ago! I would have updated sooner but I was asking the paediatrician and health visitor since October for some help with his sleep but paediatrician got back to me after I called the doctors for melatonin😬 but I’ve got a month to send late evidence in to see if he gets awarded higher🙈 His follow up appointment for diagnosis is in 2 weeks and I’m hoping after I show them how he is outside and how he walks she can help with evidence for mobility as he’s struggling outside🤞🏽
What evidence did you send and what diagnosis/pathway does your daughter have?X

1855.35 pending in my monzo! SD NC 21/11.
I’m assuming it’s DLA as I haven’t applied for anything else!😂

Thought i would be cheeky and give them a call as im 22/11 but still not even with a dm, apparently in the queue x

7/11 but mine was mandatory reconsideration I thought they backdated to the date of your original claim or I'd it different with coc x

Hi all. Very long term lurker(Oct 24).. i currently have 2 Mr going on for 2 of my boys. One 3/10/24 for a Higher care rate and another 17/12/24 for HRM from LRM..
This is so stressful all the waiting and fighting we have to do to keep our kids safe and get what they deserve to get the things they need.
Been ringing every few days for the 3/10 claim. No decision made Friday. Choose to ring today.. at 2pm and a decision has been made. But said to wait 7-10days for a letter. So guessing it's a decline. 😢 x

Thanks hun, I did, the Mr man said they can't do that and to ring the normal help line.
So Rang back and spoke to the normal helpline. She said the same thing. Can only do that when it's a new claim not an MR. Helpful bunch haha. Xx

JMB1007 · 24/03/2025 17:52

NC SD 21/11. Sent extra evidence last Tuesday via the free post address, called to check that I had time and call taker said we were still in the queue so no rush. Called today to check it was received, call taker said that it was scanned on to my claim today and that it's with a decision maker now. I did ask what to expect and he suggested I call back on Friday as I'll probably have a decision. Won't get my hopes up, but will definitely call!

Hopefully the award changes when you send in the rest of the evidence!

I sent a letter from the head about her behaviour and if it continued she’d be excluded, most recent EP report (also mentioned that she’d had 3 reports by 2 different educational psychologists in 2 years) and a statement from pastoral which mentioned she has an EHCP already and she’s been referred for ADHD and autism (school referred for autism and we’ve been waiting 2 years for an appointment! And we referred for ADHD, she had her first appointment in December and they’ve put her through to be assessed). School backed up our claim in their statement as they really struggle with her. She has to hold a staff members hand to walk to assembly which is down the hall as she can’t be trusted.

Do you know when your decision was made? You're 3 days after me, but I've not heard yet.

Do they ever text with an MR decision (not that I've ever had a text regarding DLA!).

Oh gosh well done! I’m SD 22/11 so getting quite worried now we’ll be in MR territory soon - I did call just once at 16 week mark and was told not to call again until 25 weeks minimum 🫣

MrsKB16 · 24/03/2025 18:49

They said it was made today. I rang at 2pm and he said that a decision has just been made.. I rung Friday and one hadn't.
When I rung Friday he did say they would send a text or a Dm would call. Had neither!! 😞😓 Give them a call tomorrow x

NoWordForFluffy · 24/03/2025 18:53

I'd say if no money tomorrow / Weds, then it's definitely a decline. I've decided against ringing for the MR...I'm waiting for either money or a letter!

My LB is 3 and a half so I only sent a report from first paediatrician appointment in June saying they are moving forward with an autism assessment, 3 speech and language appointments letters and an occupational therapy report after a phone call appointment with them. He didn’t start nursery until November but a couple weeks ago an educational psychologist came to see him but I’ve not sent in any evidence from nursery or educational psychologist. Sounds like you’ve sent good enough evidence and the school is backing you up which is positive. It’s obviously care needs they go by which I wish I stressed out my LB’s more the first time round, I was too busy making sure I sent enough evidence and not actually updating and making sure i stressed out his day and night needs😬
Fingers crossed for you this week, I’ll keep an eye out on you updating😊

Oh sorry, I meant for me re money. I'd say Thursday / Friday for you.

My MR is 30/09 trying to change an outright refusal for DD(11). It's so frustrating. She's lost her entire bloody PE kit last week, including accessible trainers from Nike which aren't cheap, so we could do with the money!

Nc 15.10.24. 23 weeks tomorrow.

I feel like I have been on these threads forever and the October claim waiters seem to of died down. I may ring later if I get chance after I have checked the post which comes late afternoon. Surely it is a decline and just the letter is taking a while to arrive. It has been with the DM over 2 weeks.

Same scan date as you ZippyMintHedgehog and same feelings too 😓 although maybe I’m 15/11. I feel like my brain can’t handle this stress. I need to go check the date now
