Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Hi congratulations. May I ask what you sent in what reports and if you have diagnosis of anything?my son receives high rate care and low rate mobility . This was for adhd only. However I have submitted my renewal forms as they were due and fast forward I also have an autism diagnosis, blue badge, speech and language in depth report, tic/ Tourette’s . Someone told me to do the renewal and not do the change of circumstances as it will get looked at with the renewal x

Senmummy1234 · 24/03/2025 09:50

May I asked what you sent as I have a diagnosis of autism for my son now along with a blue badge and Tourette’s / tics, a very in depth speech and language report. We’re just going through the EHCP process. Have a detailed one plan and he has diagnosed adhd medicated and sleeping tablets. He go awarded for the adhd , wanted to do a change of circumstances but renewal was due. I’m hoping it goes to higher motility or I’m not sure what to do.

Nc 15.10.24. 23 weeks tomorrow.

I feel like I have been on these threads forever and the October claim waiters seem to of died down. I may ring later if I get chance after I have checked the post which comes late afternoon. Surely it is a decline and just the letter is taking a while to arrive. It has been with the DM over 2 weeks.

Hayg81 · 24/03/2025 10:54

Can anyone please help with this letter how come they are not backdating this I told them straight away and that I was waiting for the dla to go through.

They are backdating to 4/10/2024 is that when you claim started?

Hayg81 · 24/03/2025 11:14

Yes I was confused about the change I January. I changed all the dates when I left work and that was 19th October and the man my husband saw at the job centre took it all off. Do you know of they pay with my put the backdated payment with my next award or is it separate

It would be 8/4 and then every 4 weeks after that, Dla goes in on Tuesdays so yours works out perfectly

The back pay payment will be paid separately, it’s not usually long after you receive that letter and it will go directly to your bank, they would have updated your uc claim now so all future claims will have the disability element and carers element on it

Hayg81 · 24/03/2025 11:21

Okay thank you so much for your help

I'm so annoyed today I was to recieve a call today confirming the outcome off my daughters austic assessment, it was booked for over a month for 2pm today. Had a call at 10am its been cancelled 🤦‍♀️ I now have to wait to be contacted I really wanted the paperwork ASAP to send off as extra evidence 😡😡

emalea · 24/03/2025 11:59

1855.35 pending in my monzo! SD NC 21/11.
I’m assuming it’s DLA as I haven’t applied for anything else!😂

Can’t believe your still waiting, I got a payment in bank then received the award letter the day after. But the made a decision on the 13th March and I got the payment on the 19th March and i was calling for a few days after a decision was made and they still wouldn’t tell me anything🙈 hopefully you hear some good news🤞🏽

I'm sorry to hear this. It's frustrating when those meetings get cancelled. Are they still looking to gather other evidence or input about your daughter's ND? A 3rd party report held ours up.

Mommy2boys30 · 23/03/2025 21:24

@Peaches10 Virtually Unable to Walk, so they look at the distance and time and manner, if physically unable to walk as well as other aspects. My son got awarded HRM when he turned 3 back in August. He got it under this rule due to walking with his eyes closed, I had a lot of professional evidence to support my case. You can challenge it but with what your saying it would be classed as SMI rule which is harder to get but not impossible their is just more to get on the chart flow that decision makers look for. If you think your son deserves it then you can try and if you don't get it then try again when you do your renewal. Hope that helps. My son is on the ASD pathway, non verbal, GDD, sensory issues, eating disorder, going through EHCP, we see CAHMS, SALT, and Paediatricians, he has inclusive provision with nursery which is 1-1 funding, in a clas sof 4 students and 5 adults.

Edited

Aww thank you for the very helpful information. I have called them up and they have put it through as a reconsideration. He suffered with sleep insomnia aswell he doesn't sleep so he can also be so tiered he will just lie on the floor so I litrally have to carry him everyone. He is on medications for the sleep problems. He's still on the wait list for pediatrician has been for almost 2 years now. I have asked speech and language to write up a report but my child development lady is currently off work due to a bad accident so I am unable to get anything off her. And the umbrella pathway again it's another wait list for that. My health visitor is non existent no one can contact her iv been trying for the last 2 years not one single phone call back it's horrendous. But thank you very much for all your help.

zoeybrooks45 · 24/03/2025 13:34

just an update for anyone waiting for tribrunal. I have recieved a reply from DWP they sent me over 200 pages in the post of my whole claim and now I am waiting for a tribunal date it’s probably going to take 6 + months maybe even a year. The pack I recieved stated my child is entitled to 2028 but original MR notice stated 2026. I will call and get some clarity.

It got cancelled because the clinician is poorly. I'm in denial though and still keep thinking somebody is going to phone me!

How does a COC work? Do i complete the new claim form again or is it just the changes that needs to be sent in?
