DLA WAITING TIMES THREAD 65

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

Anyone able you answer a quick question, when you tell uc does every child get the disabled element added or is it done on a assessement. My son gets LM and MC but when I added the change it wanted me to fill out a houseing element and said I was not entitled to it. I am a little confused

Hayg81 · 11/03/2025 13:38

Hey, my scan date was 30/10 I just rang and said they had made a decision today but wouldn’t tell me any other info if it was refused or awarded 🥲

Annieoae · 11/03/2025 13:47

NC scan date 31/10. Awarded today HRC for my 3 year old with behavioural issues. Had ASD assessment and absolutely thrived with no signs of autism but can be manic within nursery and new settings. so not all children need a diagnosis. hope this helps people apply without diagnosis :)

Hayg81 · 11/03/2025 16:14

Frankadoodle · 11/03/2025 16:37

@PositivityRipples or anyone else that could help me received this online letter from UC in the journal .

You reported a change that happened on 25/09/2024. This declaration was made outside
the assessment period in which the change happened.
The decision maker has reviewed the reasons for the delay in notifying us of the change.
On this occasion it has been decided that special circumstances apply and your Universal
Credit will be adjusted from the date of change.
Changes to your Universal Credit entitlement will be shown in your monthly statement.

Can someone clarify if this means they are going to backdate it to 25/9/24 ? I think that's what it's saying but not sure . Obviously there's a bit more to the letter but it's personal information

Frankadoodle · 11/03/2025 16:38

Obviously the special circumstances are DLA taking 3 million years to make a decision on the award . So it wasn't I reported late 😂

Frankadoodle · 11/03/2025 16:45

Scrap that, the service centre has just confirmed I'm receive the money within 2-5 working days .

So hopefully anyone else waiting for Disability element to be backdated won't be waiting long .

PositivityRipples · 11/03/2025 16:48

@Frankadoodle yes DM has decided back dated payment ect that's what that letter meant I'm guessing you've now got the second letter on thee journal stating amount and when you will be paid it.. Glad it was sorted for you quickly.. All the best

Hi I have been a bit confused about the uc side of my son claiming dla he gets hcr and lmr what extra do I get with uc please?

Mumoftwobeautys · 12/03/2025 09:46

£487.58 disabled children and you can get £198.31 carers element if you don’t already claim carers allowance x

Peaches10 · 13/03/2025 13:36

Hello

Does anyone know if UC back date carers element aswell as disability element. I have been told I will receive back pay for disability element. But have been told the carers element is from the date I made the changes. The changes were obviously made later due to waiting for a decision from DLA.

I sent mine 6 weeks ago, called them 4 weeks ago to check they had got them and they had. Wrongly assumed that would be the scan date.

They rang today to check 2 really small things and said my scan date is today 🙄

AsaG7 · 17/03/2025 11:29

Called to confirm additional documents were sent today, and was told my NC was received on 22 January. No scan date yet. 🙈 looks like a very long wait.

Hi All, I was awarded dla in Nov 23
first question does anyone know when they will send out renewal forms for Nov 25? As I know it takes months from first time around..

also wasn’t aware I was entitled to carers element so have been awarded back pay for this but since the DM awarded UC have completely ignored me.. not replying to journal messages and when I call it gets escalated but still no messages.. how do I complain to them about it?

Minnie83 · 19/03/2025 11:33

One thing is for sure guys, don't give up regardless of the outcome. Fight for what you believe your child is entitled too.

I've had the same letter today stating 11 weeks after I called to confirm they'd received change of circumstances form and was told 25 weeks last Tuesday.
I'll be overjoyed if it's 11 weeks and will sure as hell be calling if it's longer!
