DLA WAITING TIMES THREAD 65

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 21/02/2025 20:01

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

I would caution calling so frequently... there was a recent post in one of the fb groups where a DM commented negatively on someone calling repeatedly while talking to them about their child's claim and it was then declined... I've seen other posts where people have been noted as nuisance callers too... I understand your frustration I really do but it won't help speed up the process... more frequently now DM's are contacting schools and that can cause cases to be with them longer than intended... I hope you get your decision soon

Not gonna lie but its my claim and ill call as much as i want end of the day i know im entitled to it for my son whos going down asd adhd route by all means they can tell me about calling end of the day without us calling they wouldnt have a job and id they gave accurate information we wouldnt have too be calling up

MaddyM8 · 10/03/2025 13:00

I just don't understand why they don't have an online service like uc where you can update and submit evidence and check the status, it would be so much more beneficial to parents and save us all having to call up and waiting ages for them to answer and then some being unpleasant and unhelpful over the phone. Makes no sense

SS84 · 10/03/2025 13:06

I appreciate that it was just a little word of warning... ultimately DM's are still people and people make mistakes or can be difficult... I just didn't want you to be in a position where they get fed up of you and decline so its a problem for the next person to deal with instead 🙈

Im not one to moan usually but ive been waiting since october for a decision so of course when your told a decision will be made for monday and when you call there isnt one its a kick in the teeth i explained my reasons why id like to know a decision and he said he would message DM asking if they would possibly give me one and said i can call later if i wanted i think its a decline which is making the wait worse

crb12345 · 10/03/2025 13:18

NC SD 21/10
I received a text Tuesday saying with decision maker.
I called Thursday and they said it was back with a case manager.
They called me Friday morning to confirm that they were the right bank details for payment to go into.
I've called again this morning and they said they couldn't tell me if a decision was made and to just wait on a letter.
Honestly so confusing, why do they have a number to call and they still can't give anyone correct answers? Don't get me wrong I haven't had any with attitude yet but I get more info from a text than I do from being on hold for an hour and still you get no answers🙈

It’s so frustrating 🙁 Life has been so difficult snd my daughter in hospital having an operation relating to her medical condition that we are trying to claim for. We sentenced to the very limit financially because of it and we are clinging on to hope that the DLA is approved and can help us a long a little bit 🙁

Hc0306 · 10/03/2025 14:12

Just an update from my earlier post-

SD was 30/10 and we have a pending payment in our bank! Looks like MRC for our son, who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in June.

We were told on Thursday it wasn’t even with a DM so looks like it can move quickly at times.

Good luck to everyone still waiting!

Jod3s87 · 10/03/2025 14:27

Well I've got through nearly another day, well slept through it as been in A&E all night.

My friend works for DWP and she said most of the call handlers are sourced out which could be why we're getting inconsistent information. However, a Decision Maker and a Case Manager are the same person.

@Jod3s87 Your " friend" has given you incorrect information..
A decision Maker and a case manager are two completely different people with completely different job role.
