DLA WAIT TIME THREAD 62

zoeybrooks45 · 11/01/2025 22:06

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.
DLA contact number is 121 4600 0800 121 4600

MR scan date 9/8 just called been told a decision has been made but cannot be told over the phone, is this a decline?

No news yet but I recently updated my bank account to my married name but my maiden name was on the form for my bank account and I've only just thought about this. What if i am awarded the claim then they try and pay and it doesn't go through however I'm worried if I ring to make a change and it doesnt matter it will put it back or something

I just rang and asked and they updated the system to show that I’ve requested a text.

Do you know the number I can call? I wasn't going to call but I'm getting itchy

Oh no, honestly that's not great at all. Hopefully if you put in for tribunal they will revise the decision before you get there 🤞😪

To update you ladies…. Decline!
received the letter today dated 06.01.25 got straight on the phone and applied for MR. Scan date was 16.08 but I asked for forms 18.07.25
going to send through all the photos of my daughter so they can see what it looks like what I have to deal with.
letter of decline was useless so I need to call through to the enquiries line to find out more tomorrow. I don’t like this rule of greater care need and that babies practically don’t clarify. I have two young children, 1 of 3 years and 1 of 9 months. So I have experience in young babies and my second the one I am claiming for has been born with a lifelong condition going through multiple surgeries to help her so far and more to go each one has a 3-4 week healing process with multiple extra things I need to do for her to help her heal! I knew they wouldn’t understand because it is rare but I just wanted her to be recognised well both of us. We go to London to gosh hospital multiple times every couple of months etc. it’s just a lot 🥹
I doubt we will get the mr either and now another 25 weeks to wait it’s ridiculous will be nearly a year

That is absolutely disgusting, how they can decline something like this is is beyond me, so sorry you have to do anything MR, hopefully it won't be 25 weeks and a proper health care professional gets to look at the claim properly 😪

Thank you for coming back to me, I really don’t understand any of it and I feel they use the baby needs care card too much. If the child has a lifelong condition I don’t think it really matters what age they are just put it in for review every few years. I don’t want mobility but I just wanted the care element and even the low that’s all I would have been happy with I didn’t expect higher or anything. The guy doing the MR did say they aren’t medically trained and it could be that they aren’t clued up enough and I said well that’s for them to educate themselves if they are lack of knowledge in certain things not just decline! So here we go again for another 25 weeks 😅

Mumofnine · 13/01/2025 18:44

Can I ask if this is normal please I've not heard anything like this on all the pages I've been on before and this guy on my journal just wrote back to me as my son was awarded late December and been messaging about backdated money and wondered if this is the normal protocol?

Yes it’s normal even if you don’t claim carers you can claim the care element, if you are putting in for carers u can put the start date of your claim for it to be backdated too

Ah that's ok, I just don't get it, if it's a medically complicated claim they should put it straight to the HCP for review, this is probably why they have so many MRs. Even the call handlers have mentioned that there are more MRs than normal, you would think that would tell them they aren't making the correct decisions. Really hope they get the right decision next time 😪 x

Thank you so much so how do I authorise myself as my son's carer? I don't want to apply for carers allowance as I was told was no point by DWP x

So sorry that your child was declined! They may be looking at it as your child is going to hospital every couple of months and only needs 3-4 weeks healing time and then your child is fine until the next one. This is clearly not the case from what you’re saying. DLA is for daily care needs. Focus on how this affects your child daily. A statement from yourself cross referencing the evidence alongside it will help a lot as they aren’t medically trained but have guidelines to follow. It may not be the full 25weeks some are getting re looked over before starting MR process to reduce back log. Fingers are crossed for you🤞🏽🤞🏽x

Anniej2024 · 14/01/2025 07:52

I have a question! Everytime you call up does it get logged that you called does anyone know? I’ve only called twice since December but thinking of calling again as we are 20 weeks now.

It seems like MR are running close to the full 25 weeks now. I am 21 weeks nothing as of yet. But I expect those before me to hear first anyways. It’s really frustrating!
