DLA WAIT TIME THREAD 62

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 11/01/2025 22:06

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.
DLA contact number is 121 4600 0800 121 4600

I gave in and called today new claim scan date 13/09 was told it’s still in the Que. the lady was very nice and apologised for the wait said up to 25 weeks currently on 18 weeks + 3 so dont thinks its going to be for a few weeks yet 🤦‍♀️

Kw1510 · 20/01/2025 17:27

So i missed a call from dla at about 4.20 and I rang them straight back but have been on hold since. They shut at 5 don't they so should I just hang up now or keep going and hope they answer the rest of the queue?

Kw1510 · 20/01/2025 17:29

Also.... What could they have been calling for? My scan date is 17/9

Hi guys sorry I have posted the same question a few times lol but just wanted to know if a case manager and decision maker are the same? My new claim SD is 09/09 was told today it's with a case manager

I'm not entirely sure tbh maybe @PositivityRipples might know?

Lfair2025 · 20/01/2025 17:45

if DLA call does anyone know the number which they call you of. Thank you

PositivityRipples · 20/01/2025 17:50

@tyravoss @macap No they are not the same totally different jobs and roles.
DM is a DWP official they work on behalf of the secretary of state and are trained in legislation, they decide if someone is eligible for benefits and they use guidance.
Case managers manage benefit applications from start to finish, they also process payments, they gather evidence ect.
But the problem with being told by a call handler that your case is with a case manager is they actually think dms and case managers are the same thing, they are just call centre agents taking calls to read from a screen most of them don't have a clue what they are even doing or saying and they just say anything. 😂🤣 And that's not me trying to be horrible they literally make it up as they go along 🤦🏻‍♀️ so they say dms are case managers and case managers are dms different people and job role entirely.
Not that my comment helps you too know where your application is at now 😳

My son got high rate care and low rate mobility until 2026.

I'm so glad the wait is over we can relax for a bit now

Goodluck to everyone else hope your children get what they are entitled to.

OneUmberRaven · 20/01/2025 18:30

My scan dates 30/9 and 28/11 I requested forms, but CAB helped me in their office and we printed them off albeit sending in late as I had life stuff going on but explained that. Guess they may take back pay from SDs not dates I phoned up if we get awarded. But after day I’ve had I just could do with some good news. Life is endless pattern of appointments, asking for help, emails, juggling my work and sitting down and wondering what’s next … think blue Monday hitting hard here today x

Thank you😌 scan date is 09/09 new claim x

Lyannaa · 20/01/2025 18:45

My scan date is 10th Jan. I've just posted my claim in for my 5 year old dd who most likely has autism. Most of us in the family are autistic so it isn't my first rodeo. She's waiting to be assessed now through Caudwell children. Can't come soon enough as her anxieties have ramped up big time.

It's weird how you can have 3 autistic children all with different care needs entirely.

Dd4's form took me such a long time. And has anyone noticed how they've changed the forms so that you are no longer prompted for information as you go through the questions and have to write everything at the end? I may be cynical but I think this is a deliberate attempt to encourage people to give less detail.

I agree! I thought it was strange when filling in the forms because by the end of filling out the forms I went blank!

Bearsnecessities · 20/01/2025 19:22

Good Evening,
My son got awarded HRC and LRM.
I also receive Universal Credit and I have informed them to add the disability child element and the carers element, however they told me it will have to go to a decision maker. I am a bit confused as I thought it had already been to a decision maker.
Also, how long do I have to wait for them to reach a decisions and for what reason could they decline my request?
Wishing you all the best x

PositivityRipples · 20/01/2025 19:29

@tyravoss You should get a decision any day now 😊

Yes! And if you ask me it's by design.

Congratulations :) If you got the award then you should automatically have the UC added on when you tell them. Don't forget to apply for carers allowance too.

Justanotherlove · 20/01/2025 20:12

@Liya1xx that should be good evidence
How old is your little one? X
They say trying to get high mobility under smi is hard but it shouldn't be, if evidence shows the child is smi and meets the flowchart then award them poor children and their families who have to go through it with them x

Starboymummy · 20/01/2025 20:22
