DLA WAIT TIME THREAD 62

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 11/01/2025 22:06

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.
DLA contact number is 121 4600 0800 121 4600

Just called up and they just said it's been passed over to a case manager does that mean the Dm? I'm so nervous can't take the wait anymore😳

Were you a NC?

Spoke to them on Friday, I was going to add evidence as was going to see if doctor would prescribe melatonin for my daughter (bedtime is 2-3 hours of whirlwind behaviour sometimes with lots of dangerous behaviour/violence) but they said no she needs an adhd diagnosis and pediatrician needs to do that, but we now have a right to choose referral being done which i suppose is good only taken over a year for someone to do it x

Was you completely declined first time round? Or you’re appealing decision. Apparently if you have no award in place they assess quicker

Just called to give some information to add to my childs application NC SD 15/10.
Asked if they could update me on where I am. E.g. in a queue etc. Although she honestly was the loveliest lady she wouldn't really say, just it could be anytime now. Not sure how to read that 🤣

If you are calling the phone line wait is about 45 mins+ atm, just a heads up 😃

Hi all been watching these pages for a while. SD NC 26/09 for my 14 year old daughter , Currently waiting caams assessment for adhd and autism she currently doesnt attend school due to anxiety and her autistic traits (,has to have a special routine ,bath for atleast 2 hours to make sure shes clean if anything goes wrong in routine she then cant complete the day. ) she weekly has no sleep for upto 24 hours at a time and in this time is bouncing off the walls , she can't shut off her last stint last week was 29 hours awake!! She has no sense of danger and has to be watched at all times! We have been waiting 2 and a half years! For camhs .She also has issues with her joints had lots of tests mri's , physio , no 1 can tell us the issue when she was a toddler and started walking her right foot turned in when she walked this has only got worse we were told she would out grow it aged 5 and then aged 10 however she never did. She's had physio for this however she suffers incredible pain when walking even laying down doctors are clueless . Her attendance got so bad at school and her behaviours at school were awful due to her issues that we then had early help step in we have an amazing support worker working with us right now as the school refuse to believe there is any kind of adhd/autism involved and that she's choosing to behave this way thankfully our support worker has put them straight and could see straight away from spending 20 mins with my daughter that actually she is defiantly neurodiverse ! We have been told that our GP can't prescibe any melatonin to her her sleep and it has to be done by camhs!! We have been told that we still have atleast a 3 year wait for diagnosis by which time my daughter will be over 16! The GP tried to get her seen quicker however cahms said that unless she was suicidal then this was not possible even though she literally surviving on maybe 2 hours sleep a day!. Our support worker wrote a letter stating that my daughter had high care needs to support my claim for DLA . But obviously I don't have much else to give as evidence. I haven't been asked for anymore ? Is it likely DLA will want more evidence? I rang to check on my claim on the 3rd of december and was told it was 50% processed , However rang on the 3rd of January and they told me they couldn't tell me anything and the current wait time was 25 weeks and if I hadn't heard anything by the 20th of march to ring them back!! It's such a long and it's awful not knowing if you have done and sent enough. I currently recieve MRC & LRM for my 15 nearly 16 year old daughter who had a diagnosis of anorexia nervosa last February put the claim in on the 8th of April 2024 and was awarded the 5th of August 2024 so it was still a wait but it seemed to go pretty fast as I was so busy in caring for her . Anyone else have a scan date around mine? Would be great to hear and generally wait with you all! I'm so tempted to ring today but worried I will get shouted at and told the same!!

It was a new claim 14/02, I filled the forms in and stated in them that i had included lots of information from the school as I had requested letters reports referrals etc from her school in Feb, March, April, may, June and they finally sent them in July, I waited for additional info from sirona and phoned on 12/08 to let them know I was finally sending all the stuff from the school to be told they had flat out declined on that day 😫 so went straight to MR, sent all the back up I had received and since then ive sent a formal asd diagnosis along with loads of other stuff

@CGBJ hi, how old is your little one? Did you apply under smi, if so what evdience did you send?

Also - is there anyone else waiting for a high mobility award under smi /vuw?.
I'd be grateful for people's stories and list evidence submitted x
More and more people are applying down this route so any help would be appreciated

We are hoping for HRM under VUW. COC scan date 13/9 - already on MRC until 2029 ( 7 year award ) but he turned 3 in December.

Good afternoon, silent watcher but thought I'd update for anyone still watching and waiting.
Scan date was 06/09 and was awarded Friday, daughter received Middle Rate Care and Low Rate Mobility for 2 years, was on hold for an hour this morning but finally some good news!

Good luck to all the families waiting 🙌💕
