DLA WAIT TIME THREAD 62

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 11/01/2025 22:06

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.
DLA contact number is 121 4600 0800 121 4600

@ash900 I didn't even say that she's being difficult..? I'm asking if uv credit are difficult when it comes to giving back payments.

Hi there. Just got the first letter from UC today saying that the backpay has been accepted. Any idea when the next letter saying how much would the backpay be will arrive?

Hi all,

SD 12/12 so a long wait ahead for us. And sorry... long post below!

I have a couple of questions. Firstly, my partner has suddenly been made redundant since I filled out the form. We don’t currently get any form of income support but are waiting to see if we can get UC now. Money is worryingly tight. Is my partner losing his job something that I need to update the DLA people about now or do they not want to know about that stuff? Or do they only need to know if we get UC?

My second question is about 14 yo DS who has been diagnosed with ADHD and also has communication issues. When I sent the form off, I filled out loads of extra pages about what he’s like to live with. He’s doing ok academically (so I worry that this will go against us) but at home he is just a constant whirlwind of chaos. He’s very immature for his age and we have to constantly supervise him as he has no concept of time, no sense of danger, inability to follow instructions, impulsive, always breaking things etc, etc, etc. I love him to bits but it is exhausting!

Here's the thing: Last night I was shocked to find 2 sharp kitchen knives that have been missing for a while hidden in his bedroom. He’d hidden a third on the kids bookcase where they could have easily taken his younger siblings fingers off because of how it was hidden. He wanted to whittle sticks with them apparently. I know he means no harm but he just doesn't think and could easily have seriously injured himself and/ or the other kids too.

I’ve already told the DLA about how he likes to play with matches in his bedroom given half the chance but I’m wondering if the knives thing is worth updating the DLA about or should I just leave it as I've already send off lots of pages?

Interested to know what you knowledgeable lot think!
Thanks in advance.

  1. if your husband is the one that made the application then you could inform them but I can’t answer if it will much difference to your claim. You can inform UC of claim and awaiting decision in the meantime.

  2. you can inform DLA if you would like. It is at your discretion. Ask yourself a) would it benefit my claim b) if there is reports that correlate with your child pushing boundaries with dangerous things. It might be worth checking if there is support available as your child is a teenager. Is he under CAMHS?

DMs are short on time they won’t be able to read through lots of documents. Only send what’s important and what would prove what you have written in the forms. They may contact school if you have given consent.

NC SD 2/9 Called today was told with DM, no further update as yet not sure what to believe as I was also told claim was with DM back in December.

SoapyMcSoapface · 17/01/2025 00:56

Thanks for your reply Zoey. It was me not my partner who made the application. I vaguely remember there being a question on the form… something about anyone in the household being on income support but can’t quite remember so maybe it’s not relevant.

DS is on the long waiting list for CAMHS support. I said on the form that he needs almost constant supervision because of his extra needs that include the impetuous and risky behaviours that put himself in danger and this was another example of that. I followed the Cerebra guide which said to include as many examples of the care you provide as you can think of so I’ve already sent in loads alongside his medical reports. Think we don’t stand much hope if the DM doesn’t have time to read all the examples of the care we have to provide. Only 20 more weeks to wait to find out 😣.

Hello, scan date 28/08 and was awarded back pay today for MRC. I sent in new evidence (including EHCP) that arrived at DLA address two days ago but not sure they would have looked at it that quickly, perhaps they did.

Woken to back payment this morning. Seems to be MRC and LRM
No text received and had fought off the urge to call and check!
Just over a 20 week wait.

Good luck to all waiting x

COC 30/7

Woke up to 1327.90 in my bank account. So I assume we've been awarded HRC from MRC and LRM but have no idea how to work it out. Either way just happy we got something finally.

Good luck to those still waiting! X

Oh. So I need to write again to ask them to do the backpay after it being accepted? I didn’t know that.

Congratulations on all the awards today and yesterday looks like this are picking up.

MR UPDATE

I actually managed to speak to the MR team today and they told me they are working on MRs from the 13/08 woohoo I'm the 14th so there's some light at the end of the tunne. Hopefully not much longer for everyone 🤞

Katone · 17/01/2025 09:55

Kc1999x · 16/01/2025 11:32

I did it under both, got awarded under VUW

What is this that you are talking about? I wish I knew the flow chart way before I sent MR but if it's decline for HRM through MR ill do thus as more evidence. I believe I pretty much said he meets all the points in that flow chart on the other page, but not quite how you guys have sent the info lol

Hello new to the thread

A long wait still to go , but I've been following along for a while on this thread . Seems like they are getting through the applications a bit quicker now fingers crossed .

I already receive DLA for my older son and have for many years . I can't believe how much the wait time and process has changed . Back when I applied for my older son I only waited 4 weeks for a decision.

I really feel for the staff processing the applications etc it must be so stressful for them and I bet they get so many people ringing up being nasty unfortunately

I just basically outlined the chart they follow for SMi and VUW. Others haven’t done this and have still been awarded so don’t worry x
