DLA WAIT TIME THREAD 62

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 11/01/2025 22:06

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.
DLA contact number is 121 4600 0800 121 4600

This gives me some hope that my sons claim might be with a DM. 🤞 as I'm same scan date as you. Hope you get awarded what your child is entitled to 🤞

My SD for my daughter’s claim is also 04/09. I’ve been ringing nearly every day. Called again today and the guy basically told me off for calling, said it’s still not with a decision maker and will take over 25weeks! What a joke.. the whole thing is so random!

NC SD 3/9 awarded HRC today 19 +2

That’s amazing! Really good that you’ve got what your child deserves. I just rang and said I’d heard of someone with a similar SD to mine (04/09 NC) who has heard the outcome of their claim already and the guy basically accused me of lying! Really had to bite my tongue.

How Rude (i mean the call handler), hopefully he only said that to try and stop you from calling. Altho if they were us then they would know how totally stressful this whole wait is.

🤞 that we both get decisions sooner rather than later.

@eleanorkzissou
I called this morning and was told 25 weeks then got a text about 10 minutes after I put the phone down!

Misstigger89 · 16/01/2025 15:24

How did you make a complaint i Updated my journal on 11th Dec they came back on the 13th Dec saying late change was accepted and uc would be changed nothing about backpayment.

Great news. Give us an update tomorrow with how you got on x

Update. I called today using option 4 and my child has been declined. Time to start the Mr wait I guess.

Oh no, did they tell you why, so sorry 😪

macap · 16/01/2025 16:26

Sorry to hear that @MummyJones94 definitely put in for an MR though sorry it means another lengthy wait. The process is simply ridiculous and isn't fit for purpose.

zoeybrooks45 · 16/01/2025 16:56

well I just recieved a call from a service manager stating that the wait for MR is 25 weeks and that’s that 🤣 I’m like um okay. I should hear back by 25 weeks. They don’t take any sympathy for MR waiting nearly 1 year for an outcome 🫣😭 xx

At the moment, you haven’t been awarded so once you’re awarded you can ask for backpay and do a change of circumstance. The backpay depends on what your rate your child is awarded. Information on elements on UC is on DWP website. I don’t think she’s being difficult she probably is unable to comment until you’re awarded. Once you are awarded it’s is sent to a decision maker to decide whether the reason for delaying them of COC is accepted if it is they will provide a letter on your journal confirming they have accepted your reasons and then another letter will follow for amount to be paid back to you.

They have really been flying through August scan dates. Probably next week onwards going to see a lot more September awards for new claims. Unfortunately, it’s seem COC and MR are lagging far behind still in early August. Hopefully we get some more MR outcomes next week.

NC scan date 10 oct

I applied for my non verbal child just turned 2 years old , she doesn’t respond to her name , doesn’t follow instructions, can’t use cutlery , needs sensory , stims , doesn’t role play or play with other children etc . I have sent referral for speech and language, referral to local authority education saying she could have disability /special needs in preparation for nursery and school . A letter saying the paediatrics have accepted her for assessments , she had a clear hearing test where they noticed she doesn’t talk or babble . Is this enough evidence or do I need more. Thankyou for any advice given

tyravoss · 16/01/2025 20:57

@zoeybrooks45 ok thanks that makes sense wasn't sure because I heard some people saying that uv credit were quite difficault when it comes to the backpay

SoapyMcSoapface · 16/01/2025 21:28

Hi all,

SD 12/12 so a long wait ahead for us. And sorry... long post below!

I have a couple of questions. Firstly, my partner has suddenly been made redundant since I filled out the form. We don’t currently get any form of income support but are waiting to see if we can get UC now. Money is worryingly tight. Is my partner losing his job something that I need to update the DLA people about now or do they not want to know about that stuff? Or do they only need to know if we get UC?

My second question is about 14 yo DS who has been diagnosed with ADHD and also has communication issues. When I sent the form off, I filled out loads of extra pages about what he’s like to live with. He’s doing ok academically (so I worry that this will go against us) but at home he is just a constant whirlwind of chaos. He’s very immature for his age and we have to constantly supervise him as he has no concept of time, no sense of danger, inability to follow instructions, impulsive, always breaking things etc, etc, etc. I love him to bits but it is exhausting!

Here's the thing: Last night I was shocked to find 2 sharp kitchen knives that have been missing for a while hidden in his bedroom. He’d hidden a third on the kids bookcase where they could have easily taken his younger siblings fingers off because of how it was hidden. He wanted to whittle sticks with them apparently. I know he means no harm but he just doesn't think and could easily have seriously injured himself and/ or the other kids too.

I’ve already told the DLA about how he likes to play with matches in his bedroom given half the chance but I’m wondering if the knives thing is worth updating the DLA about or should I just leave it as I've already send off lots of pages?

Interested to know what you knowledgeable lot think!
Thanks in advance.

I definitely don’t think they’re being difficult. They don’t need to know until you have a decision. I’m sure they’ll cross that bridge if/when awarded
