DLA WAIT TIME THREAD 62

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 11/01/2025 22:06

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.
DLA contact number is 121 4600 0800 121 4600

They don’t even bother to send out updated time frames do they, I hate calling but I was told 11 then 15 via letters. Called after the 15 weeks to be told 20, They got my scan date wrong too so I’m glad I called again today!

CGBJ · 16/01/2025 09:48

I just rang, I can't stand the nerves.

23+3 for COC, said it's still in the holding queue but it had been put in as a new claim so there was some confusion. Said they have put a note on to their senior manager (heard typing) said hopefully should go to a DM today and to ring back Weds/Thurs if still not heard anything. I don't know if I've got another week in me 😂.

I can answer yes to the last 4/5 but no idea if she will get hrc, plus shes only like this out of school, she will only do 2/3 days a week. She has dyslexia and suspected dyspraxia and ADHD, she is behind in a lot at school but I think they put this down to non attendance being the cause and not a symptom, school have been beyond useless for 3 years. Not even sure if the MR will be accepted yet or if I have to go to a tribunal x

Have you got an ECHP plan in place for her?

I’m exactly same 23 +2 for coc told still in holding queue and that they were noting for it to be sent to dm so fingers crossed for us

0124m · 16/01/2025 10:07

24 weeks tomorrow since I started a new claim (02/08/24) and still not a thing, 🙈😭

The DLA contact number is 0800 121 4600. I believe if you press option 4 they will tell you the outcome. Others that have had someone call and ask that question recieved an award within 72hrs so I think it’s a fair chance you’ve been awarded. It would be a DM who make a decision about backdating depending on your reason. Let us know how you get on tomorrow, lines open at 9-5 xx

Thank you for your help I'll give them a call. Will keep you updated xx

It's so stressful isn't it. Keeping everything crossed for you. What are you currently receiving/hoping for? X

🤣 ahhhh that made me chuckle 😭😭😭😭😭😭 I spoke to the head teacher in December about an ehcp and was told there was no point as she would need to attend school for it to be effective so there wasn't any point in doing one. Her words were along the lines of "she can have all the asd diagnosis in the world but if she's doesn't attend school echp is pointless, so no point in doing one "🤦🏼‍♀️. Once I get my UC sorted and DLA sorted and ADHD referral sorted and a doctors appointment for medication to calm her at night I may have the energy to start fighting the school 😪😫 oh the world of a send parent 😁😳😫 x

You don’t need to the teacher help for an ECHP. You can request one through your local council yourself as a parent. They will then assess and decide whether she will benefit. Schools are not that helpful as it is paperwork and hassle for them. If the school can’t meet need they should be provide alternative support. Hopefully it gets sorted for you guys xx

Currently HR. LRM so put in for HRM I’m at the point where I’m so worried I will lose hrc that even if it’s a decline I’ll accept , didn’t realise it would be this long anxiety is through the roof

I have an ehcp example in my inbox that another mum sent me, it looks really intimidating, was hoping the dla would be sorted by now so I had the head space and time to really look at sorting one for her. Thank you, honestly the school is either one really good or really bad, definitely the latter with my daughter x

20/08 SD NC approved today!!! :) MRC. Good luck to everyone!! So happy!

Just rang for an update on MR as I’m at 20 weeks next week, they’re saying 25 weeks now?! Has anyone’s been done sooner please? Also re SMI HRM do they take into consideration the level of restraint in a 5 year old as opposed to an older child? In our MR I put that we use reins, harness in pushchair etc, bear hugging at home when dysregulated to stop him from hitting his head, I feel I’ve covered everything fine except this point as we have no restraint plan at school, at the moment anyway x

Restraint is age appropriate. For a 5 year old, hand holding, re direction, buggy, reigns is all a form of restraint x

SJoJo83 · 16/01/2025 11:08

NC SD 29/8/24....20 weeks exactly today. Called yesterday was told with a DM...called this morning and a decision was made yesterday....MRC LRM. The relief of the wait being over is beyond words

Wigswaddis · 16/01/2025 11:17

I called this morning to check the award, she has MRC for 2 years, I’m over the moon because I didn’t provide much evidence other than a sleep diary and prescription. I guess the must have contacted the gp to check referrals etc. got my sons renewal to stress over now haha.

zoeybrooks45 · 16/01/2025 11:18

Congrat to all the awards this morning! Xx

Do dla ever ring from a mobile or is it always a private number? I've missed calls from a mobile yesterday and again this am, the number won't let me call back. Thinking its unlikely to be dla

Brilliant Thankyou for this. I’ve done mr for both SMI and VUW as I understand in most circumstances they award under vuw x

This gives me some hope that my sons claim might be with a DM. 🤞 as I'm same scan date as you. Hope you get awarded what your child is entitled to 🤞
