DLA WAIT TIME THREAD 62

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 11/01/2025 22:06

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.
DLA contact number is 121 4600 0800 121 4600

They sent me that lovely message on the 8/01 asking why it took me so long to report! The cheek of them so I responded and they replied same day to say they have sent to a decision maker for review so a week later and still nothing x

If it was you owing money they’d have it off of you straight away🤦🏽‍♀️ they can be so ridiculous x

Yeah absolutely they would! I’ll probably give them untill Monday then I’ll add another message x

It does sound like the decision maker called you. If you have time tomorrow you can call in to see if you have been awarded. As people around that date have been recieving outcome in the last week. They would only call to confirm the reason and they may/may not backdate to when you called for the forms. Good luck x

Edited

Thank you. I was so confused as he said he only dealt with the administration side of things and the DM requested this information to make a decision. Do you think a decision would have been made if the DM requested this information? Do you know the number to call to find out the decision? The number he gave me rang straight through to him. Sorry for all the questions It's just left me really uneasy and confused about the whole situation xx

Same date as ours

I'm 9/8 for MR been told with DM now. For last 2 days to my knowledge at least, when I asked when it went she couldn't tell me. So we will see x

PipB94 · 15/01/2025 22:15

We were awarded 22/8 but I still look at these threads every day to keep up with everyone 🥰

still waiting for UC to reply to me to tell me they’ve sent my back pay to be looked at! Ringing DLA has been down aces by chasing UC….ill have to get a life when all this is over 😂

The DLA contact number is 0800 121 4600. I believe if you press option 4 they will tell you the outcome. Others that have had someone call and ask that question recieved an award within 72hrs so I think it’s a fair chance you’ve been awarded. It would be a DM who make a decision about backdating depending on your reason. Let us know how you get on tomorrow, lines open at 9-5 xx

Hi everyone do I let uv credit know once iv been awarded dla or do I tell them now?

srellim · 15/01/2025 23:42

Hi, is there anyone that has done an MR for HRM for a child that has been diagnosed with autism? I Recieved the forms just before 3rd birthday and went from MRC to HRC but no mobility. Im guessing I should wait for the letter and fill out a form for MR or do I call? I don't know how else to say his refusal to walk or sit on the road or lack of danger awareness is not a choice. I've read online that there has to be a physical cause for being Virtually Unable to walk but also read the brain counts as a physical cause. Any successful MR by just rewriting everything you have written on the claim form just in detail?

Thanks

If you have received your diagnosis then you can do MR. Your award can go up aswell down. You need to provide evidence referencing the flowchart to show your child meets the criteria. You can always submit MR now and start to gather evidence as it is 5/6 months outcome till outcome.

You can’t inform UC until awarded. As applying does not guarantee you will be awarded. Once you recieve your award you can update your journal. If you have work coach you can update them informally about your situation and that you have applied.

Katone · 16/01/2025 08:10

I'm beginning to lose hope lol! 😭 and think a tribunal is the next step. 🫠 does anyone who requested to be texted actually get a text?

go on that link, scroll to Universal Credit, and there should be a bit where it says “make a complaint online” x

Complaints procedure

How to complain about the service you get from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) or from an organisation that provides its services.

This is amazing thank you, everyone i spoke to at UC was useless and didn't explain anything about an online form 🤣 just tp follow the uc compliant procedure that doesn't include an online form 🤦🏼‍♀️ I was even given a dodgy website address 🙄 x

You're an absolute star, think I'm going to be heading for an MR though even though he ticks every single one.
23+2 today, I'm actually sick with nerves

Just looked at this and not sure if it's a good or bad thing that I could answer yes for most of the questions for my 9 year old daughter 😪

If your child ticks every box on this then go for HRM. There’s 6 points you need to meet.

  • receives hrc
  • arrested development of the brain- (autism diagnosis or gdd is accepted)
  • severe social functioning
  • restraint in all settings
  • extreme behaviour
  • severe mental impairment
that’s it in plain terms x

fingers crossed an MR isn’t needed, however if you are going down the SMI route you need to make that very clear to them as they by pass it a lot x

LB1988x · 16/01/2025 09:19

Just rang for an update on MR as I’m at 20 weeks next week, they’re saying 25 weeks now?! Has anyone’s been done sooner please? Also re SMI HRM do they take into consideration the level of restraint in a 5 year old as opposed to an older child? In our MR I put that we use reins, harness in pushchair etc, bear hugging at home when dysregulated to stop him from hitting his head, I feel I’ve covered everything fine except this point as we have no restraint plan at school, at the moment anyway x

I can answer yes to the last 4/5 but no idea if she will get hrc, plus shes only like this out of school, she will only do 2/3 days a week. She has dyslexia and suspected dyspraxia and ADHD, she is behind in a lot at school but I think they put this down to non attendance being the cause and not a symptom, school have been beyond useless for 3 years. Not even sure if the MR will be accepted yet or if I have to go to a tribunal x

My MR is 14/08 I've seen some be awarded at 20 weeks but it looks like it's getting closer to 25 for most MRs 😪
