DLA WAIT TIME THREAD 62

1000 replies

zoeybrooks45 · 11/01/2025 22:06

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.
New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?
Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.
Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.
If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)
Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.
If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.
DLA contact number is 121 4600 0800 121 4600

@Kc1999x thank you I'm not sure what mine will go down as because he meets both
What evidence did you send? X

My son fit both criteria, they didn’t award on SMI cause they said he doesn’t require restraining in all settings which is a lie, even school confirmed they restrain, which can be hand holding, re direction, removal from the room due to being deregulated, carrying him around school and so on🤦🏽‍♀️
I sent EHCP, ed psych report, nursery report, nursery manager report, nursery letter explaining what my son is like outdoors, risk assessment, diagnosis report, paediatrician consultation, and then the decision maker rang his school that he started in September and asked them questions over the phone x

Justanotherlove · 15/01/2025 15:28

@Kc1999x the same as me x I just don't feel comfortable them ringing as I just feel they aren't educated on hrm and may think it's not an entitlement for them and they could ruin the chance, I have evidence but I haven't told the school what I'm claiming for because it's non of their business really x
Hopefully mine goes well x thank you hun x

i did tell the school tbf, I asked a few weeks before for a supporting statement and sent my sons teacher who is the SENCO the flow charts, but she didn’t finish it in time and either way they called her anyways. The senco and his 1:1 agreed that they can’t see why he was declined in the first place, same case as his previous senco at the nursery. However I’ve seen a lot of cases where it’s the school who are contributing to people getting declined so I don’t blame you one bit. Your evidence should speak for itself anyways if they read it properly. Good luck and I hope you have a positive outcome x

Justanotherlove · 15/01/2025 16:36

@Kc1999x thanks hun yeah it is the schools fault, because they are uneducated and assume hrm is for those who cannot walk/wheelchair which is true but there are criteria for behavioural and vuw x
I have so much evidence from service involvement like ot and gp so if it does go against me, not all of them and me can be wrong x so I'll argue x

MistandFog2024 · 15/01/2025 16:43

Scandate 18/9. Have spent another whole day from 9-330 including travel attending hospital appointments. Still not heard anything and like others worried I didn't put enough on her form. My daughters needs are mainly medical but she does need extra care as a result

Hey I'm just after a bit of hope.
I had a call from DLA today asking the reason for the forms being sent in late. They was supposed to be returned on 9/8 . The man was lovely and explained it wouldn't impact payment rates if my child was to be accepted but it would affect the start date of the claim. He then said I should have my decision in the post shortly. Does this sound like it's been accepted or have I totally messed everything up by sending forms in late?

TIA.

Kidsanchaos · 15/01/2025 20:03

Hi does anyone know how the extra uc payment works if we are awarded dla? I can't figure out if it's awarded based on if you get the care part dla or the mobility part. Its confusing because It doesn't mention the middle rate, it just says if you get lower or higher dla. So is it only if you get the mobility part?
Or if it is based on the care part dla what happens if you are awarded middle rate, do you get the higher or lower extra uc rate?
I'm confused even writing this so if it doesn't make sense I apologise 😅

LRC&MRC you’ll get the £156 on uc a month, HRC you’ll get the 400+ on uc a month. MRC&HRC means you’ll be entitled to the carers element each month aswell

It does sound like the decision maker called you. If you have time tomorrow you can call in to see if you have been awarded. As people around that date have been recieving outcome in the last week. They would only call to confirm the reason and they may/may not backdate to when you called for the forms. Good luck x

Also if a child is awarded just the mobility component and no care you’ll still be able to claim the £156 uc a month. If that makes sense

Uc is so complicated I’ve still heard nothing back about my backpay! X

Kidsanchaos · 15/01/2025 20:21

@Kc1999x thanks that's really helpful, I'm just trying to do a few calculations on the possible various outcomes and there's so many variables to consider!

omg no way. Thought you would have had it by now. Put a complaint in, they usually pull their finger out pretty quick after that😅
