@s39 thankyou lovely. I waiting on receiving a letter what was sent out on Thursday from the dm. I had 4 missed calls on Thursday from dm wanting to know if I still want to go ahead with my mr cos I rang and said I didn’t want to go ahead with mr back in July cos I sent everything I had but was waiting for my sons autism assessment by private. I’m fighting for hrm as my son is 8 no sense of danger severe intellectual disability diagnosis now autism diagnosis I have that full report now. I’m going to go ahead as I just find it odd that the dm rang asking why I don’t want to go ahead I thought tho that cos I rang and said I didn’t want to ahead with it back in July it’s still reached a dm. We can only try. X

I’ve just had my sons claim overturned at mr stage for HRM under SMI, he’s exactly like your son, but 4 years old! Fight it, make sure you send the autism diagnosis report as that is part of the criteria! Good luck x

I really hope so I’m fed up now 19/07 is a long wait but never mind it is what it is I made a complaint yesterday so let’s see I am
Thinking my DM has put me to the bottom of her pile 🙈🙈

I’m hoping with you. If you don’t hear this weekend then Monday they should your decision 🤞🤞

I’ve been a lurker for a few weeks I’m completely new to this!!
sd 25/10 so a long way to go.
interesting to see all the different things people are being told!!
I was on the phone to my case worker for UC yesterday to discuss somethings, and she was THE nicest lady ever, and she said to me that normally dla tell uc before the claimant if their application is successful and told me she’d chase it after the Christmas break and let me know if/what she hears! She also said she’d personally ensure if successful then she’ll make sure the uc back payment is quick too.
Just thought I’d mention to see if helps at all :)

thats brilliant for you. this may be helpful to new claims for DLA!
Usually when people do COC or MRs and renewals and they are in receipt of UC they are getting the carers element. When you get the carers element all work commitments are turned off and you don’t usually have a work coach anymore, well in my case I haven’t had a work coach since my son started receiving DLA x

@Kc1999x really that’s amazing it’s only what they so deserve. I just have to wait for the letter to sign that I still want to go ahead with mr then I’m going to send his report back to them it’s still with dm but the hold up is me. They already have lots of evidence but hoping his autism report helps more. Thank you lovely x

The whole process of the MR is so daunting I see why you queried not going ahead with it because I felt the same and consistently worried the whole time. I feel that’s why they do it in hopes you don’t do it. Fair play to you for continuing with it! Really hope you have a positive outcome because that feeling is indescribable honestly!

Hi, I’m a newbie on MN so please be gentle! My DS is deaf and has been diagnosed with ADHD. I’m right at the start of this process and had a letter from DLA this morning saying they’d received my claim on 12/12/2024. So is 12/12 my Scan Date/SD?
They also said on the letter that a decision ‘could take up to 15 weeks’ which surprised me as I see from these threads they are taking quite a lot longer than that. My question is do they always say 15 weeks on the initial letter but in reality it takes longer?!
Thanks for reading!

Hello welcome! Everyone’s lovely here, very supportive! Yes your scan date is 12/12 and the letter is just a standard letter that they haven’t updated, you’ll be looking at 20-25weeks for new claims at the minute. Good luck x

Thanks Kc1999x for replying. I was hopeful for a moment that they had shortened the wait times and then realised it was probably just a standard letter. Bah! Ah well, I guess I’ll be waiting until at least May then x

They are so unpredictable that the wait times change all the time. Hopefully they employ a lot more staff to help with the case load and get through claims quicker🤞🏽

Hi, yes your scan date is 12/12. New claims are taking up to 20 weeks, although I’ve seen a few posts saying they’ve now extended that to 25 weeks. In any event they seem to be well in to August with new claims they seem to be going fastest. Good luck, I hope your son is awarded. x

It is, I’ve felt regret a few times of over starting this process, so many scenarios play out in your mind. It doesn’t help when your child’s school doesn’t support the process either, fills you with more doubt. The only thing keeping me going is that the fight isn’t over if it’s declined. I want to know I’ve done everything I can for him and not just with this x

100% this! Always fight for our children and for what they deserve!

application has been declined. I have been told that i can send in late evidence for it to go to the same decision maker for the decision to possibly change. This would be before starting a mandatory reconsideration. Is this correct as I cannot find any information online regarding this.

I’ve seen them doing this a lot, I think due to the back log on Mrs before taking it this far decision makers are having a re look. If I was you I’d send some extra evidence if you have it and see if they change the decision. I’ve seen that it’s only taking an extra 4 weeks with others that I have seen so definitely worth it. Obviously this may vary with each claim!

Really? I’ve never heard of this before.

the person I spoke to said that they weren’t a decision maker. my worry is if I send in the extra late evidence that they may then treat it as an MR anyway, if you see what I mean?

100% get what you mean. But yes someone had this over on Facebook. They did actually ask for an mr, sent the extra evidence, got a decision a few weeks later with an award. They spoke with DLA and she asked about her mr and they asked her if she wanted to continue even though they overturned decision before mr stage if that makes sense. So she was confused because the mr didn’t go through but the extra evidence changed the decision

Ooh Interesting. It would be a relief for sure if it could be done that way. Hmm, thinking what to do, Thanks for the info anyway 😊

It’s probably too much of a risk not doing an mr I suppose just incase.
