NC 2nd August Dm just called said id ticked the box thst my son has lived out side of the uk. I asked how long would a decision take as I called this morning to check on paperwork arriving and bring up loaded she said decision should be a couple of days. She doubled checked address and bank details or asked if I’m ok with dealing with my finances. When would you call back for a decision?

New claims?

Yes x

@SKB12 I want to do a MR honestly. But I can't take anymore waiting. In 18 months she'll be a little older and perhaps taken more seriously the fact she doesn't go anywhere without mum and I'm having to drive her to school as unable to get the bus herself etc. She's never been anywhere by herself and is almost 11 so I'm not really sure what their reasoning is!

I know it’s awful all this waiting and then you second guess yourself, did I send in enough, what I sent in was it relevant etc have you thought about logging it by phone, quick reasons then send in paper evidence next year? As you know it won’t get looked at any time soon and that way you’ll be getting your MRC, have MR logged and have at least 25 weeks to submit paper work. Just an idea although I can’t face a tribunal I’ll do it because no one else will look out for our kids!

addies · 12/12/2024 13:37

@SKB12 I could do that, but I don't have any other evidence that I can send. I'm wondering if it'll be easier to demonstrate once she's at secondary,

PositivityRipples · 12/12/2024 13:40

I've just recieved info that all N/C, MR and COC and renewals for all July dates have a deadline date of 22nd December to be sorted and closed.
And That new DMs have now been allocated to August and September for condensing backlog.

Hope that helps.

Chels2020 · 12/12/2024 13:42

I best hope they scan my evidence on before then as I’m 19/07 x

From what I’ve noticed it’s harder to evidence once in secondary. However every case is different, do what you think is right for you and your child! Congrats on the award either way x

Kc1999x · 12/12/2024 13:51

@SKB12 tbh I don’t know what to think with these anymore, there’s always something going on or setting it back. So stressful, not even in my 30s and getting grey hairs😂😂😂

You can collect it during the time it’ll take for them to look at it. It doesn’t even need to be from a professional. It could be a family member, friend, anyone that knows your child. The one thing I would say about secondary is that kids become more aware and can try and mask their emotions. I believe it’s why my son stays at home and on the days he does go to school he will show them he’s struggling and the refuse to go in the following day/s

PositivityRipples · 12/12/2024 13:58

@macap Im on my lunch break from work and trying to gather evidence for my son's claim, I messaged my Ex (DM) last night and asked what i can send in to show my son needs supervision all of the time as i don't have anything, he said ive already wrote about home, senco lead has already wrote on " someone who knows the child section" that he's supervised at school so all I need to show is how he gets to school and back supervised ( school provides uber) so I just need them or the school to write that and sent it and that will show supervised in all settings.. I just said to him I'm reading a discussion group about a 25-35 week wait and asked what month they are currently working on and the message above is what he replied.

Honestly I’m so angry but there’s nothing more I can do. When or should that be if the DM calls I might just have a meltdown on the phone. I wanted to go in to the new year knowing if we were doing a tribunal or not but now I’ll need to wait until the new year. One of the members said all July claims new, coc and MR need to be done by 22/12 deadline

I just seen that someone is on week 26 of MR and still no decision is made lol. I don’t think that they’ll have July finished by then

Congratulations on your daughter getting the care part sorted!
My daughter is 12 and has never been anywhere alone, either myself or her sister has to be with her at all times, she has no sense of danger in the home or outside of it - I just don't know how the DMs can say that children like ours need no extra care than others their age

I spoke to them this morning. There was no mention of a 35 week wait. I’m waiting for a DM to call, will double check then. Good luck with your claim.

Wow they must be escalating it surely. Actually don’t see how the wait times are going up.

If they have to meet deadline then they will need to work over. My only concern is will they decline and pass over to tribunals if they have to finish July by 22/12.

I’m in two minds whether to call again😂

addies · 12/12/2024 14:09

@SKB12 thanks for your help. Can you suggest what I might provide as evidence? I wrote at length about no sense of direction and unable to recognise familiar places if coming from a different direction, wandering off if not closely supervised, having extreme reactions to loud noises due to sensory needs. She is also extremely scared of talking to strangers. She's so vulnerable, I actually imagine her somewhere she doesn't know and feel fear. I detailed all of this separate sheets, and gave examples such as when she wandered off alone as distracted when walking around the shops with me. She's extremely bright, but extremely anxious and vulnerable. I went in to so much detail regarding this. I don't really know what I can provide further. The school can't really comment on this side of things as they don't see her in an unfamiliar setting alone. They did a good letter that I am sure added to my case for her care element. But really struggling on what extra evidence I could get to show mobility. I feel a bit silly as it wasn't the mobility bit I was worried about really. I was thinking it would either be a straight up decline or MRC LRM, which is the rates I believe we should be getting.

Same with my son. He’s 13. Unless he’s with me, dad or older sibling he’s not allowed to go out unsupervised.
