Please can I ask when requesting back pay for Universal Credit, is the date that the change happened the date you found out about the award or the date it was awarded from (I.e back to the date DLA received the claim form)?

Date awarded from. So if for example you’re awarded from 01/06 you put that

@PositivityRipples thank you for your post.......although my mind is now blown ha ha

PositivityRipples · 12/12/2024 12:29

@addies Just assume if they say its with a DM that there's some kind of note on your claim from a DM ( the note could say anything)
Also when they say it's not with a DM this doesn't mean it isn't it just means there's no note on your claim.

The best thing to do when calling them if they say its with a DM just say " oh that's great news but just out of curiosity how do you know that"?

Or

If they say its not with a DM say " can I just ask how you know that it isn't with a DM?

They then have to at least explain why they are giving you this information and how they know the answer.

I rang to see if it’s worth me sending in any additional evidence when my scan date was 2/08 because I have an OT letter.
they said yes send it in. They even suggested sending it free post!!! Which takes them forever to sort, so god knows when my claim will be looked at sounds like not close..

Emat19833 · 12/12/2024 12:47

Oh no hopefully by this afternoon x

I wouldn’t use the free post. I’ve seen a couple of 02/08 claims had decisions back. Call handlers are just useless at this point

@PositivityRipples did you work for the dwp your help is great just wondering how you know all this 🤣🤣 the whole system is like a mind field x

Well ive just heard from them. Bit deflated. I have been awarded MRC but no mobility. Mind blowing to me because we hit every criteria for lrc. DD wouldn't stand a cats chance in hell on an unfamiliar route on her own. I supplied lots of evidence to that effect so it's so strange how they've agreed mrc but no mobility. The award is also short at July 2026 so looks like I'll be going through all of this again in 18 months. I don't think I've got it in me to do a MR, I'd be far too worried about losing the care. I think I'll just have to wait until renewal. So I'm happy her care needs have been recognised, but disappointed that the fact she can't be on her own at all etc hasn't been.

addies · 12/12/2024 13:05

Every criteria for LRM I meant...typo!

Although I found all of them rubbish, I 100% know who you're talking about. I've had her, she even huffs. She also sounds very young so perhaps has no compassion at all as can't relate.

That’s right she was a young girl. Not at all interested if I get her again I’ll ask for her name

macap · 12/12/2024 13:09

dd15 EP report is 17 pages long. 🫣 still gonna send it in but doubt it’ll be looked at closely if they have so much to get done.

Congratulations on the care part, sorry to hear about the mobility, tbh they are probably expecting you to do an MR

@Chels2020 My child's father is a DM for child DLA and PIP in England he's been one for 15 years ( we aren't together) I work within HMRC IT department, i know the guides and systems used by DWP it's part of my job, but i was unsure what happens if you don't have certain evidence or it's pending i mean he's told me whhatt happens but I was looking for other people's personal experiences because

I'm only here as I've just SD 22nd Nov put ion a claim for my own 13 year old child who is suspected ADHD / ASD just been referred into neurodevelopmental services for assessments, he's on an alternate provision for schooling because of 16 school suspensions iin aa year for assault on school staff and pupils violent extreme behaviour, and he can not self regulate or calm down he has complex issues SEMH are also working with him and he has behaviour management and anger management, he has a senco lead and welfare officer but everything is taking its time CAMHS and EHCP and EP he has none of them at the minute he will see EP Jan, so i asked my child's father who's a DM what I need as evidence ect (. He's not my 13 year olds father) and i was online looking for discussions from others and ended up here 😂

addies · 12/12/2024 13:14

@SKB12 I want to do a MR honestly. But I can't take anymore waiting. In 18 months she'll be a little older and perhaps taken more seriously the fact she doesn't go anywhere without mum and I'm having to drive her to school as unable to get the bus herself etc. She's never been anywhere by herself and is almost 11 so I'm not really sure what their reasoning is!

if you aren’t going to do the mr, spend the time collecting and gathering evidence for renewal. You could even do a COC ahead of time. Wait time will probably be shorter next year with any luck🤞🏽🤞🏽

No I won’t, I’ll send it today special delivery even though I don’t think it’s that good evidence to be honest. But don’t think it’ll hurt.

Kc1999x · 12/12/2024 13:22

@SKB12 appatently someone’s called DLA just now and been told MRs are now taking 35 weeks

SKB12 · 12/12/2024 13:27

Kc1999x · 12/12/2024 11:45

It’s just constantly on the mind, can’t cope at all. It’s taking over my life🤦🏽‍♀️

You are near the end, you’ve done really well to get to 21 weeks and keep it together. It could well be with a DM but it’s just not updated. We’ve seen the call handlers got no clue and just reading off the screens and even DMs don’t seem to know what dates they are working on. I’m hoping I can speak to DM when they call but also have a poorly little one 😢

No way!!!! I wasn’t told that. They just said the usual 25 weeks this morning. The new claims automated line timeframe now states 25 weeks same as MR

Stillwaiting2 · 12/12/2024 13:28

Seen 4 decisions for 1st & 2nd august on fb. Another just said she’s 14th and hers was passed to dm this morning. 🤞🏼🤞🏼

SKB12 · 12/12/2024 13:28

@Kc1999x if DM calls I will ask about this. There’s no way they’ve shifted it by 10 more weeks I would rather they just said no and move on to court!

New claims?

Tacsmumma · 12/12/2024 13:30

addies · 12/12/2024 09:18

I've just called. I've been told that my claim is now with a case manager and I'll hear very shortly. I asked for a text to be sent and she said she'd make a note for the decision maker. So then I asked, what is the difference between a case manager and decision maker (fair enough I thought as she used both terms in the same sentence), and she said they're the same thing, just different terms!!
Anyway, she then said they'll be willing to talk to me in more detail once the claim reaches 25 weeks due to slow Christmas post. What does that mean? I swear it gets more cryptic every time I call 😂

The lady I spoke yesterday apologised that I had been told that my case was with a Decision Maker when it wasn't, but it was with a case manager awaiting allocation to a Decision Maker....I give up, it's always a different story and I can't work out what's true and what's not 😪
