Thank you. @Kc1999x 07/09 MR

07/07 even 🥴

Kimby2024 · 03/12/2024 14:58

The school even said he has no issues with food. But that’s because every day he has a ham sandwich he won’t touch anything else. It’s his favourite food and favourite time of the day.

SKB12 · 03/12/2024 14:59

Not DLA related but anyone know anything about early help? Had a call from a support worker they are in talks with sons school to open an early help and asked for consent. This is due to his large amount of absences and our being unable to get him to school I guess

Having the same limited diet daily is an issue how can they think it’s not? My son eats crisps only. I have raised this with school they told me he won’t eat anything else most times so far enough

Do you know who exactly they spoke to at the school because if it’s not someone who looks after your child, that itself is grounds to appeal

Thank you. Is it like social services? I’m really not keen on any involvement from them. We’ve already agreed there is an issue and we’ve told school bar physically placing our son on to a car we don’t see what else we can do. Funnily enough he’s in today too so that’s a win

I’d be in the school and questioning why they are lying. I’d then be questioning why if they think he has no needs is he on the sen register and why are they claiming the extra funding for that🙃 ridiculous

Scc1991 · 03/12/2024 15:13

So I called again. Woman said as it's now 20 weeks she will pass me over to someone else... Thought I was perhaps getting somewhere.. but the bloke she put me through to just said yes sometimes they can take a little longer but should hear this week or next 😔

Emptyabc · 03/12/2024 15:15

I’m 26/7 MR - phoned today and not yet allocated and the usual script of up to 25 weeks & not to bother phoning back 🙃

I've heard it can take anywhere between and few days and a few months. My son was awarded 30/9 and it's with a DM to be looked at for backdate. I had to wait 9 months for a decision for DLA and now another waiting game.

Oh wow I hope we are not waiting so long dla was an awful experience I’m dreading doing it again

Jmam · 03/12/2024 15:51

Does anyone know how updating UC with dla would affect migration protection?
Someone told me they lost their migration protection and didn't get any backpay for their child's disability because of it.
I'm wondering if this should have happened to them or should they contest it?

My S/D is 4/9 long wait ahead.
Good luck everyone 🤞

We have family support worker through early help.

honestly some people have wonderful experiences and some are awful, it can be very dependant on what support worker you get.

we are very lucky I really like our two. They are friendly and none judgemental and it’s nice to feel like you have people ok your side to help fight for stuff!

I have two DD both currently out of school. One with suspected ASD and one with suspected ADHD. Both have a debilitating fear of vomiting which restricts them massively. School is a big trigger for them.

early help have done some anxiety techniques with them but more than that they’ve gone to the right people and tried to get what we needed! I got upset in a meeting a couple of weeks ago, we were at my child’s school and I saw her friends all happy and having fun and I just felt so bad for my daughter. The early help worker cried as well 🙈

it is a voluntary service though so it is up to you!

I have had a message off UC to say my back payment request has been sent to a decision maker, how long do people usually wait to hear back off the decision makers on universal credit?

mine went to decision maker then 2 days later had 2 messages to say awarded and then another message today saying back pay will be in bank in 2 days (5th) x

Are you still on tax credits? Dc was awarded just before my switch date so I updated tax credits with this info and a week later I started the switch I don't know yet if I have transitional protection has I've not been paid yet.

Hey guys I tried to put this on a group on fb with dla but apparently wasn’t dla related.
I put in claim for my daughter 2 weeks ago not yet scanned.
my question is she is now being up in for a section 19. This is apparently like a doctors note for work but for school. It’s what chams are saying that mainstream isn’t right for her as we have had all but 3 years of school refusal. Returned here and there but can’t cope get to overwhelmed and cant concentrate to the point they saying they couldn’t keep her safe, Would hide on school grounds. Leading to suspension.
my question is had anyone else’s child had this, what does it actually help
with? and do I form dla? She is at panel at the moment after chams did assessments for adhd/austim with learning difficulties. If someone could private message me that would be great as I don’t want to fill up fill up the chat! Thanks guys xxx

SD 26/10/24 - I sent off extra evidence and it was signed for on 8/11/24. Phoned today to add on some extra information and to see if the extra evidence had been received and they’re saying it’s still not been scanned on. Does it really take this long?

Kc1999x · 03/12/2024 16:41

second Time having a nice call handler. She advised that because I’m nearly at the 20weeks mark that’s when most MRs are getting picked up. Still not allocated but she’s noted that my son had a disability buggy from wheelchair services due to his behaviours

Early help is (new in some areas) introduced to bridge the gap between social services and community services. It’s usually when a referral to social care is deemed inappropriate but other community service are not able to offer then any further help. Kind of like a support worker. However they can they refer on to social services, social workers can also provide support around caring responsibilities and breaks etc. I would probably decline consent if you are not one for constant pointless communication, you know your child best and what they need assistance with.

Hoping that I’m same as you, how long was yours back dated if you don’t mind me asking and was it for her both disablity and carers I’ve worked out I’m owed 6 months so 6 x both of them is that right?

I find they take ages to scan stuff on the system when sent free post.
