The wait times are draining and things change so quick so you just never know

To be fair I must have got lucky every time I have called because I have always got straight through.. imagine waiting 40 minutes to be told nothing is very stressful

20 weeks today... So tempted to call but only phoned yesterday and was told not with DM so feel there's not much point 😂

I’ve called yesterday and today and will be tomorrow as well they’ve not scanned my evidence on so 😂

she Has a point. They should update their letters, giving people false hope, especially those that aren’t on these forums or social media🤦🏽‍♀️ I’m so sick of waiting considering I’ve seen people after my date had theirs looked at already🤦🏽‍♀️

I just don’t understand because they give you the 15 week time frames, how do they expect families to fund the extra needs of a child especially if they have big families. Like my son now is refusing to eat breakfast, said he wants to try smoothies. So out I go get a smoothie maker 3 weeks before Xmas, yeah only like 35 quid, but my son can do this weekly. If I don’t give accommodate his food problems he goes to school saying he hasn’t had breakfast 🤦‍♀️ then they give him something. I have 3 other children, they just expect you to wait and fund it yourself until
the back pay. It’s silly. X

They just don’t care if I’m honest. And 35 is a lot in this day and age, it’s expenses like this that DLA is used for🙄 I’ve seen people saving theirs for the child’s future but it’s daily care needs uno what I mean, if you can save it your child don’t need it daily for their needs,

I need them to add about my sons buggy, but I can’t deal with the waiting on the phone. I hear the music that they use while you’re on hold before I go sleep at night🙃

Wow now that would make me question benefit fraud but hay. My son is autistic so he has expensive hobbies. Lego won’t have the cheaper range they apparently don’t feel or look the same, gaming pc as that his only escape from reality and his own little world. Ps5 (shares with twin brother as he has a pc) but new games for that when comes out. Obsessed with Roblox coins, Food brands won’t eat cheaper range. Lamps that light up and have things in them like lava but water, fidget toys. Action figures, this all helps him with processing and dealing with his day to day life. Smashing things up, I have to replace, home decor he rips off the walls. It’s expensive but we do this to make them cope and relax when life is somewhat difficult for them. I could really do with the extra money, wouldn’t be able to save it for future maybe a couple months for a nice holiday but not future that’s shocking. Xx

I get this completely, like my son eats less than 5 things and those things are the expensive range🤦🏽‍♀️ he doesn’t really play but the toys he does like are easily broken and need replacing all the time stuff like that. They say you’re allowed to save it for big stuff and what not but these people have opened savings accounts that can’t be accessed until 18, which I agree is benefit fraud because it’s for daily care needs🙃

im new here and just been award middle rate care no mobilty for my 5year old. They have only given a 1 year award. Is this normal? If I was to do MR on the length of the award would there be a chance her award itself could be changed to

Kimby2024 · 03/12/2024 14:30

Well. I rang back and it has in fact been declined. Stated that the school didn’t back me up saying hes nothing different to any other child at his age. So now I’m debating why they have had him on a Sen plan for the last 4 years… why we’ve seen an educational phycologist and why they are starting the Process of a EHCP or even mention the fact that he was deferred a year.
I’ve been battling too long to try get help for him. I give up.

When asking for a claim to be looked at again, you risk your awards it can either be increased, decreased or taken away.

Also if it’s a year long award you’ll have your renewal forms while waiting for MR anyways

I have had a message off UC to say my back payment request has been sent to a decision maker, how long do people usually wait to hear back off the decision makers on universal credit?

Wow. You’ve got to fight this and do a MR. SEN plan, Ed psych and in the process of an EHCP are all reasons to overturn their decision.
This has me really worried that school can just overrule and they will favour that so they don’t have to award. Along with MR, school owe you an explanation.

I've heard it can take anywhere between and few days and a few months. My son was awarded 30/9 and it's with a DM to be looked at for backdate. I had to wait 9 months for a decision for DLA and now another waiting game.

He’s 6. He was completely let down by everyone. Didn’t speak till 4.5 toilet trained at 5 won’t eat doesn’t sleep. Has to be with me ALL the time. I find myself sitting in my car when his dad comes home just so I can have 5 mins to myself. He is intelligent but emotionally more a 3-4 year old. But I’m spending a fortune on sensory lanyards for school because he gets overwhelming need to grab any squish parts of people. I will be speaking to the teacher when I go in as I feel the sensory teacher had something to do with it and she doesn’t even deal with my son.

I would too. You’d think it’s coming out of their pockets and they would want to support their pupils! No joy with cab office they’ve literally not answered he can probably see my number.
