Sorry, just incase you've not realised or seen my last post...the added elements on uc are per your pay cycle not weekly, your back dated for the disabled child and carers element will be back dated per month not week. Will still be a nice little sum xx

Yeah wouldn’t be for the carers as wouldn’t put in for that as I work 20hrs per week and earn around £970 per month xx

I'd still do a change of circumstance for carers element anyway! Worst they can say is no. I've had a little Google and there is no upper earnings limit so long as you are providing 35hrs of care per week....we're parents on call 24/7 so surely its worth trying??

Has any one had DLA ring there child’s school?

Sorry to rant at you guys but after having multiple agents lie to me and tell me my original scan date would be amended I called this evening to be met with you what I can only describe as an extremely abrupt and rude woman. When I explained it wasn’t my fault the online part 2 had to be hand written - it was the system, I was told “well it’s a problem with the system you’ve got then”. When becoming upset (yes I did cry on the phone) and saying it’s not fair to hold his application back two months it would’ve been done in august if the system allowed me, I won’t hear back til February at this rate! She literally scoffed and said “did you honestly think you’d be hearing back this year anyways”

I couldn’t hack it anymore the more I started to cry the more I felt as if she became more rude. Anything I said was interrupted with “log a complaint then” and I was told there was no manager that would speak to me and they’ll not log complaints on the phone.

I feel absolutely gutted and humiliated

This is shocking. She can’t speak to you like that in the same way that we wouldn’t be allowed to speak to them that way. Did you get her name? I absolutely think you should call back tomorrow explain how you were spoken to and insist on speaking to a case manager. No your sons claim should not be pushed back because of a flaw with their system, that is their fault and for them to honour the original claim date, that’s just common sense. I’m sorry you were treated so badly at what is already a very hard time xx

My son has had his claim for 4 years. They haven’t once contacted the school beyond the small paragraph in the claim form that the school fills out

I read up and says can earn £151 per week and I earn more than that so not quite sure xxx

s39 · 25/11/2024 22:16

Do you only get carers element if you are awarded mrc and hrc?

From what I’ve read lrc and Mrc are £155 or so and hrc is over £400 xx

TheSnappyTurtle · 25/11/2024 22:52

@Carson2504 Dont apply for carers allowance apply for carers element on UC. I earn £2500 a month working full time and i get carers element. Theres no limit of earnings as long as youre on UC.

Scan date 12/09. They told me middle of Jan but I’m expecting more end of Jan/beginning of Feb. But 10 weeks today, should be half way there! Getting there 😂

Edited

Same scan date , I think early Feb which is extremely frustrating

I sent some evidence off yesterday, 1st class recorded delivery, how long does it normally take for them to scan it onto the system?

I just called to ask if I could send new evidence, and they advised that it probably won’t be looked at until after Christmas now!!

Yeah they told
me yesterday taking 20 weeks to get to
a dm and then upto 5 weeks after that and he said to take into account bank holidays over Christmas I’ve set expectations for new year now scan date 19/07

ForRareBeaker · 26/11/2024 09:38

I’m trying to call them but keep getting cut off

I rung last week SD 12/8 NC was told to expect decision by 30/12 which will be 20 weeks! It’s really unfair that they tell everyone something different!

s39 · 26/11/2024 09:50

There was a lot of awards last Tuesday seems to be quieter this week 😔

But then seen an award for 27th July yesterday, so only a couple week off, you just can’t believe anything they say to be honest x

AKD · 26/11/2024 09:58

Scan date 12/7, back pay into my bank today! Not sure on rates awarded tho yet. Will they get shitty if I ring and ask? How long does letter take?

sjay1017 · 26/11/2024 09:59

Reading all the comments of what people get told, I honestly think they just get emailed a script to say. All call handlers are to say 20-25 weeks. I think some try to be a little more honest in expectation and some just follow the script that they repeat 100s times a day.
i don’t think any of us truly get the truth.
