@PollyH3 fingers crossed it’s your day tomorrow! Good luck to anyone who’s still waiting for awards this week! Hopefully it’s now a slow week with the DM!

This is literally my son. Would wear shorts and crocs all year round, even in the snow and storms. Our garden flooded with the rain we've had and he went out and was playing in the water(and I mean rolling around in it, soaked from head to toe). He's 14. He also can't tell the time. If I said it's 20 to 3 he wouldn't have a clue what time it was unless I said 3.40.
I really wish the dm's could spend some time with these children. The Meltdowns we are having constantly lately is so exhausting and I know it's only going to continue to get worse because he can't cope with all the change etc in the run up to Christmas.

It’s hard isn’t it. He’s in shorts even when we’ve had snow and the house is freezing, doesn’t listen when I’ve asked him to put a top on, doesn’t see the need. Mine wouldn’t understand 20 to 3 either. He doesn’t even know what day we are on half the time. He’s shut himself off from life it feels like most of the time. He loves Christmas but can’t cope with the run up to it, it was an issue in primary school. High school not as much as they don’t seem to do much, had a jumper day last year that’s all I recall.

I'm calling first thing tomorrow and I'm so nervous as so much for my son is riding on a stranger who has never met him making a decision about him. 20 weeks tomorrow and pretty sure I still won't have a decision but hoping they will escalate it and I'll have one by Tuesday 🤞 the wait has been horrendous. I thought it was bad enough when it was around 16 week wait back in June when my daughter was awarded.

I hope you get your decision tomorrow and it goes in your favour. It’ll be 16 weeks on Tuesday for us 😴

It’s an intervention school, they only have them for 2 terms, they’ve been amazing!

Oh right. That’s a shame. Do they just do intervention once throughout their time at the home school?

SKB12 · 24/11/2024 22:36

Hanacrusis · 24/11/2024 21:55

its so incredibly frustrating isn’t it! Obviously no decision yet on my boys but I’ve been through MR and tribunal with my partner and still didn’t get what we felt was appropriate, he’s just had his renewal through and went from no mobility to high rate which just shows it’s what he was entitled to all along!

Wow that’s a big jump. Was it the same information that was provided when he got no mobility? If so it shows it’s purely down to the DMs opinion?

SKB12 · 24/11/2024 22:34

Yes, but the idea is they identify the needs and appropriate support so that EHCP can be applied for. We’re applying for EHCP in January and it may be that we are looking for a specialist school after that.

Exactly the same information regarding mobility, I don’t know if you know how PIP works but went from no points to 22 points for mobility, which is huge, maximum is 24, only 12 needed for higher rate. Was even supported by a solicitor the first time round who agreed should be entitled to mobility.

@Ash900 @PurpleNurpleGurple ah really! I’m Exeter! Are your claims new or MR? What scan dates? Good luck!

Mines new claim. I still have a while to go. My scan dates 12/09 so I’m about 10 and a half weeks so far. It definitely helps following threads and seeing people go through the same and also seeing when others a
are getting decisions! When’s your scan date? Also good luck too! Keep us all updated

New claim.

We sent ours off early August, and then when I rang them to confirm they received it, they said they received it 6th Sep (unsure why it took 4 weeks for them to get it?)

MissKaya · 24/11/2024 23:35

Ebonie3315 · 24/11/2024 13:47

Was you asked to send more info in?

I wasn't, but I thought while we are waiting so long, our children's behaviours can change. My daughter has become increasingly dysregulated, more so than she was in July when I sent the forms. So best to update them of that, as any additional evidence, no matter how small is good to let them know. She also now has SENDSAS/SENDIAS involved, when she didn't before, so I sent her key workers information and report along with my own overall update x

I receive PIP. I’m currently having my whole award looked at again. I’m not expecting as much as that points wise but I don’t believe I’ve been scored fairly

The solicitors who supported him were free, might be worth contacting them. Disability Law something…

Sorry just seen your scan date here. I’m 28/08 so still a while left for me yet as well 😳

One last update and I’ll leave you all. Award made Thursday last week and back pay pending to go in tomorrow. I really hope you all hear soon. Someone mentioned shaking so much when they were on the phone and I was exactly the same, they have no idea how stressful this is some of them need to be much kinder. Also I’ve searched some old posts on here and a good few years ago awards were taking three weeks! Imagine! Anyway I hope your children all get what they deserve, I didn’t ask school for any evidence as I felt so embarrassed and grabby and I think society has led us to feel that way but we must continue to fight for our children.

This has made me nervous. I was told I was awarded Wednesday morning so unsure if it was Wednesday or Tuesday night as I'd also rang on the Tuesday and there was no decision and I still don't have back pay

NimbleQuail · 25/11/2024 06:56

Mine was a MR 23/7

MrsW12 · 25/11/2024 07:13

Best of luck to everyone today. I have my fingers crossed for you all x

PollyH3 · 25/11/2024 07:32

Well I still have the tiniest bit of hope that a decision was made over the weekend and that I don't need to escalate it further but I also know that will absolutely be the case. I can't get over how unfairly the system is ran. Like my mind boggles how some can be awarded so much earlier than others, with others left to chase and take it further as its been over 20 weeks. Good luck everybody. Really hope there's lots of awards this week x
