They aren’t linked here. That’s pretty shocking

I've been told the same, no referral for ADHD until the asd has been completed 🙄

@JW070116 oh yeah my son masks pretty much all day but his attention span he just can’t hide 😂😂 last week he got told off for stimming too so I wasn’t best pleased. No I try not to go off on one but my face suggests other wise sometimes 😂

🤣 I think they saw that with me at parents evening when her new teacher wasn't aware she had dyslexia, the senco wanted to be swallowed up into the floor 😂

I think it’s only because they requested both, if only ADHD requested then they get put on the waiting list just for that. Also they are only 5 (6 next month) RISE won’t assess for ADHD under 6.

Can you do a new referral although it’ll put you back of the queue.

You learn something new. I didn’t think they went hand in hand anywhere

If they see evidence of ADHD during ASD assessment I think they skip part of the queue due to internal referral, but it’s still years. If there was no concern re ASD they could have just asked for ADHD initially I think. But it was triaged based on the referral so maybe not…

TBH if awarded I’ve already earmarked some of the back pay for ADHD assessment as twin 2 is at risk of permanent exclusion if no improvement soon I think.

I wonder, my son’s ADHD traits were observed during his autism assessment by the neurodevelopmental specialist. She was the one who made the referral.

SKB12 · 24/11/2024 16:31

@Kc1999x I should’ve been as specific as you. I am assuming they will read through by law they are meant to read everything and if not we will see them in court! I’m not backing down until we’ve exhausted that option too. I think the evidence sent clearly displays grounds for them to change their decision, it’s whether they think they should that worries me

I do feel for you. My son was excluded at primary school. They described him as having reached crisis point on that particular day. I had been asking them for help and referrals 2 years before that day. We didn’t go to panel to have the decision overturned as my son’s relationship with them was so fractured at that point, he told us he didn’t want to go back. How he stayed in his second primary school was a miracle. He’s now in a specialist school.

SKB12 · 24/11/2024 16:37

I think tomorrow will be a positive day for many with them working over the weekend. Fingers crossed! I don’t think there’s any point in me calling to ask what dates they are dealing with as each time they’ve told me, someone pops up with a later scan date being awarded 😂

He does 3 days a week (previously 4) at a therapeutic intervention school which has been great, but he’s going back to his normal school full time in Feb and I’m dreading it!

Gonna find my boys statement of reasons and show you. Nothing about SMI only VUW

I’ll be calling in the morning😂 they will have my number on speed dial very soon like “not this woman again” 😂😂

hi, I’ve been watching the thread for some time, SD 26/07 as the date gets closer to 20weeks I’m worried we’re going to get refused. My 7yo daughter has had urinary incontinence for a few years now along with urinary enuresis(involuntary urination at night) which she is on 2 medications for this, one at night the other 3x a day, she is also on the neurodevelopment pathway awaiting a CAMHs assessment. She’s also been put on daily laxido& dulcolax off the continence nurse. She requires care day&night and we have an individual health care plan in place in school as well. I’m just wondering if anybody has been awarded for incontinence. I put off applying for a very long time because of the worry of being refused, I suffer bad anxiety myself so this wait is excruciating 🙈 if you read all the way Thankyou❤️ and good luck to everybody who is waiting!x

Thank you that would help. I never did request that but if he’s declined I’m going to request it for tribunal

😂😂 I think they just fight when I call up who is going to answer it today. He made me laugh on Friday when I was asking about the date order in which MRs are being done he was like I’ll let a DM answer that for you hold on and puts me through 🤣

Hi. I would think that you have a case. Your 7 year old has more needs than the average 7 year old. My child is under colorectal nurses she gets LRC I think it should’ve been MRC but when her renewal is due I will add more then and see. Right now I’m focused on my son. My daughter is 8 so a similar age. She was born with a congenital defect

Going by this my son won’t get it either even on MR. All of the points that apply to your son apply to mine too. So this is saying he is making a conscious choice? If so, it’s what they will say about mine too, there is no physical disability which we’ve never claimed but his refusal episodes are linked to autism. I’m getting less hopeful tbh and think I need to sort my paperwork sooner rather than later ie make more copies as I’ve sent some of to DLA as additional evidence. I would be gutted having waited all this time and still more time to come for it to have been for nothing

I’ve gone off one reason only that they gave for awarding my son LRM which was written on his decision letter. It’s not right so why should I accept it was my thinking! Did you request written statement of reasons?

Thankyou for replying to me, have you got long before your daughter’s renewal? I wish you the best of luck with your son. We have appointments every 6 month with the peadiatrician alternating telephone &face to face and he always sends me a letter stating what we have discussed and our action plan so I sent all of them off so that DLA could see she is gradually getting worse as she gets older rather than better, I also sent them the same off the continence nurse, copy of medication list and a copy of the IHP from school that states her care needs at school and that I am required to be called to use shower facilities at school if she has a bowel accident. I’m just hoping that it’s enough🤞🏻

It’s not due for renewal until next May I believe it was. Thank you, you too. I think you’ve got more than enough there. Ours daughters sound similar, ours alternate between face to face and telephone appointments and a letter to the GP with a copy going to us. I would direct them to her nurses and GP as I don’t have all of them but either of them would. My daughter is allowed to go to the toilet as and when needed. At one point she was being refused until her consultant wrote to them saying that she requires free access to the toilet or she would be at risk of having an accident (bowel). Urinary continence wise she is fine. Your daughter clearly displays greater needs than other 7 year olds so I would be confident of an award.

I believe our scan was the 6th September. What’s the likely timeframe to when we’ll hear back?

Also, this is a DLA Application for our 2 year old with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis, anyone dealt with this before?

Tacmumma · 24/11/2024 19:50

Could someone tell me the address to send extra evidence for my daughters claim please?

It's a 20 week wait on new claims. Some are being done slightly before but not much

Yes they said he is making the choice so I said Autism is classed as a physical disability and his “refusal” isn’t a conscious choice but caused by his physical disability. I was very annoyed with the statement of reasons. They disregarded everything
