@PollyH3 ah ok. Yeah senco at my daughter’s school is useless. Thinking they may call her new school tho, as it was her old school that filled the form out when she was in year 6. ( Was end of the year) now she’s gone upto high school. So thinking they contact her new school.

Ceb2018 · 24/11/2024 13:28

@PollyH3 my boys school is so useless! The senco is none existent. Gives all these great examples of what support they will give him and then they never follow through with it. It’s so exhausting advocating all the time for such basic things! Don’t even get me started on the school nurse either the amount of medical gas lighting that goes on is mind blowing. Rant over. ha sorry!

Same for me, my daughter had a language assessment this week and I found out the assessor had tried 2/3 times to contact the senco in the month before and they hadn't responded 🙄. School constantly saying we will implement this or put that in place and NEVER do its so frustrating

Stillwaiting2 · 24/11/2024 13:40

@PollyH3 senco at her new school promise to put things into place for her but don’t! She had so much support and 1-1 in primary. High school is a smack in the face for her, everyday she’s in isolation or suspended from school. She struggles so much but they are no help! I had the school print all reports out from when she started September and sent them off last week to hopefully help her claim. States she’s always in isolation and been suspended 6 times, they havnt stated any send needs tho 🤦‍♀️ so she just sounds like a naughty child 🙄

Just posting again to keep in the loop and share my journey so far.

My SD is 27th July, so I still have a few weeks before I start calling up.

I sent in additional information a few weeks ago by recorded delivery. I saw the photo taken at point of delivery the day after posting, and gave it an extra 2wks before calling and confirming it was on their system. When I called, at 9am on the dot, I got through super quickly, I spoke to a lovely lady who confirmed my additional info had been received, and she then offered (without prompting or asking) to give me a date to get back in touch by if I hadn't heard anything. She said 12th December, which is 2days before 20wks, not sure if this is because my SD is a Saturday.

My daughter is 3 in January, presenting with GDD and autism, with her understanding, communication and language currently at 6-12months. Evidence given from HV, SENDSAS, Paediatrician and S&L.

Sorry for the essay - Hoping for positive outcomes for you all ✨️

Was you asked to send more info in?

Ceb2018 · 24/11/2024 13:47

@JW070116 terrible isn’t it. I sometimes wonder why they are in that job role and I know everything gets blamed on funding or lack of time or resources but it’s not good enough. Most days my child is labelled as being disruptive and is moved due to lack of attention span but nobody does anything to try improve that for him, his teacher must dread me walking up to the door each morning as I’ve always got something to say 😂

Yes totally normal, if you haven’t asked for a text message or you could be getting a Text soon after my call it was 1 hour later I got a text. Fingers crossed for you

Thank you very much. I will give them a call tomorrow. This has all sent my anxiety into complete over drive and for them to say no now would be just awful .x

I had similar except I asked if she could text me and she said no she didn’t think she could but she was new and she wasn’t sure if a text automatically went out if it was awarded but if it wasn’t then a letter would be sent. She said some letters come within two days but they have to say up to 10. I called the next day and we were awarded, still waiting for the letter but it was only awarded Thursday.

I am trying my best to stay positive but it's so so hard isn't it after such a long wait.. I will call tomorrow with every crossed...
Congratulations on getting awarded that's fantastic news..x

Mine masks when she is actually in, she did 2 days last week, and I don't get calls or emails to ask how she is or why she isn't in or how can we help 🙄 I don't go off on one often but I'm about to 🤣

Ceb2018 · 24/11/2024 15:04

@JW070116 oh yeah my son masks pretty much all day but his attention span he just can’t hide 😂😂 last week he got told off for stimming too so I wasn’t best pleased. No I try not to go off on one but my face suggests other wise sometimes 😂

They won’t even consider ADHD assessment here until they’ve had ASD assessment

They aren’t linked here. That’s pretty shocking

That’s very shocking considering they are two different things. They aren’t always linked together. A child can have adhd but not asd and vice versa

Exactly that. So if they don’t have a need to have an ASD assessment they can’t access the other? I’ve never heard of that. No one should feel forced to go private either, instead they need to work out how to reduce these huge waiting times and provide the service without parents forking out thousands

Makes no sense at all tbh. I’d be contacting someone about that

Hanacrusis · 24/11/2024 15:35

I think it’s only because they requested both, if only ADHD requested then they get put on the waiting list just for that. Also they are only 5 (6 next month) RISE won’t assess for ADHD under 6.

Hanacrusis · 24/11/2024 15:38

I’ve been told the same thing repeatedly, by RISE, EP, CP, SENCO, specialist therapeutic school.
