I used to enjoy weekends and now I loathe them. Hopefully we have another positive week xx

It does feel like just waiting for Monday to arrive doesn’t it!

Hanacrusis · 22/11/2024 20:50

Feeling really grumpy this evening. I really wish things would just be done in order, seeing scan dates after my sons is so frustrating. I can’t even begin to imagine how hard it is for those waiting 20 weeks plus!

19 (and 18+4) weeks down hoping next week is the week.

Also random question but it’s been bothering me, my boys forms were scanned 3 days apart, sent together, I assumed that’s because they were a Friday and a Monday and none scanned on the weekend. This seemed to fit with the majority of scan dates I’ve seen. But I’ve seen a couple of 13/7 which didn’t fit as it’s a Saturday, do they scan over the weekend?

The more I read the more I think they’re just declining initially to give them more time! It’s ridiculous. Also we went from decline to MRC HRM which again shows how bad it is.

@SKB12 theyre so rude aren’t they? When I called this morning I got the same spiel about not being able to give MR decisions over the phone so I did what you all said and asked to be put through to someone who could tell me (I was so polite!) and she scoffed and said ‘well I’ll have to go through all the security questions and then get permission from a case manager and they still might not tell you’ but she did put me through to a really helpful man who read the whole decision to me.

Plus the lies about what date they’re up to 🙄

So pleased you were put through to a nice man who gave you the info you needed. I find that the DMs are politer than the first call handlers and I’m guessing that’s because they field a lot of calls per day and not always polite ones!
Absolutely, unless they genuinely don’t know which given they are DMs that have given me that particular days S/D that they are working on, they are lying. I have told them so and asked them to explain later dates being awarded in that case and get the usual I can’t explain that or I’m not aware. I think they just see as money grabbers rather than parents with kids who have genuine struggles?!

Kc1999x · 22/11/2024 21:13

Call handlers need to be a lot more understanding and not act like robots! Or they need to update their system rather than letters and phone calls🤦🏽‍♀️ the amount of stress they could relieve but choose not to. Imagine being able to just upload evidence instead of sending it by post risking it being lost

Agree. It would save them so many calls if evidence could be uploaded. It’s so old fashioned having to do everything by post. The cost as well but then they say they have a free post address which takes ages for them to receive if at all. My free post evidence didn’t get to them so I resent cheapest price for signed for which was £5.40 so not that cheap when families are struggling

You aren’t alone. We are 16 weeks on Tuesday I cannot imagine doing at least another 4 weeks of this. They must scan over the weekend same as they have called claimants, it’s just that we can’t call them. Due to the backlogs I think they have staff working on weekends ie the overtime that they mentioned.

Scan date 16/07. Called today and was told no change, needed to wait until 20 weeks etc. Just this minute had a text through saying he qualifies!

Congratulations. Now even the call handlers have no clue what’s going on 😂

🤞🏼you hear before Christmas!

i wasn’t sure if it was just decision makers working on the weekends. Really irrelevant just my brain questioning everything 🤣

Ivytor · 22/11/2024 22:22

In Scotland we have a page online where we upload the documents and they’re usually scanned onto the application the next day so I suppose that part is good, but the call handlers are quite cheeky more often than not everyone tells you something different everytime you phone haha

Offtopic · 22/11/2024 22:44

MR date 1/7. 21 weeks Monday. Called last week, told it was taking 25 weeks.

Wow. Why can’t it be the same for us. It would reduce waiting times and reduce the work for the call handlers if we could upload online.

If they were just honest we wouldn’t need to dissect what they tell us on here!

This is probably going to be a daft question so forgive me as I’m new to this, are you all in Scotland? I was wondering why there wasn’t a 3rd option on the phone but is it because I phone social security Scotland and most of you are from England?

I’m not in Scotland. I’m from the West Midlands x

MR date 1/7. 21 weeks Monday. Called last week, told it was taking 25 weeks.

They said they were working to reduce that timeframe by 1-2 weeks but today we’ve seen 11/07 and 23/07 MR awarded

my DD has just been awarded. My DS is currently waiting (sd 17/07 NC) I have told UC about my daughter’s award. Do I tell them about my son aswell if he gets awarded? Or just the once that I receive DLA?

AKD · 23/11/2024 08:43

Yes. You get disabled child element for each child, although you can only claim carers element once.
