@Carson2504 yes new claim. They wouldn't say. I wouldn't believe them anyway. I'm hoping that worst case scenario I'll have an answer by Tuesday after @JY979797 got escalated and an answer the next day

Fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻 when I called first thing the day after 20 weeks was up I had quite a rude person on the phone but a decision was made that day so hopefully it will be no later than Tuesday for you xx

You might well get an answer. If they went through 10 days worth of claims within around 2 hours 😂

honestly😂😂 this thread is the only thing keeping me sane atm. This weekend is gonna be a killer

Scan date 16/07. Called today and was told no change, needed to wait until 20 weeks etc. Just this minute had a text through saying he qualifies!

I was the same SD as you. I ended up sending my renewal forms in too, but this originally was a COC. The day after the woman emailed the manager, they had made a decision. I would say that if you don’t have a decision on Monday, ask to be put through to someone else and get it escalated!

I did that on Monday or Tuesday. They transferred me through to someone higher whic then said they’ve emailed the team leader to get it sent to a case worker because it has been over 20 weeks and every time I’ve rang since they just keep telling me it’s in holding que.

NimbleQuail · 22/11/2024 17:24

The more I read the more I think they’re just declining initially to give them more time! It’s ridiculous. Also we went from decline to MRC HRM which again shows how bad it is.

@SKB12 theyre so rude aren’t they? When I called this morning I got the same spiel about not being able to give MR decisions over the phone so I did what you all said and asked to be put through to someone who could tell me (I was so polite!) and she scoffed and said ‘well I’ll have to go through all the security questions and then get permission from a case manager and they still might not tell you’ but she did put me through to a really helpful man who read the whole decision to me.

Plus the lies about what date they’re up to 🙄

Yes new claim. I sent in a letter last week which was just further info from me as he changed school and has gone onto a reduced timetable x

I hope so. He's been so bad this evening because there was a change at school because of an incident in the science lab which of course threw him and I'm so stressed and anxious about still not having a decision that I'm having to try so hard to stay calm 😭

Ceb2018 · 22/11/2024 17:43

@Carson2504 i think it’s 5pm but not 100% sure I didn’t ring in the end I couldn’t be bothered with being told the same answer so I may just wait it out until next Friday now 🙃 @PollyH3 i really hope you get your answer on Monday! You would have thought if they still had older dates they would have a rule that they can’t move onto new dates until all are completed. Such a broken system that doesn’t work!

Coc scan 26/06 called this week went with DM 22nd Nov (20weeks) and it could be another 2-5 weeks- bit different from my call the fri before when she said it would be this week.

Mixed messages 😢

Stanleycoffee · 22/11/2024 18:56

I've not been keeping track this time so haven't posted (I'd forgotten about it tbh!) but thought I'd add my info in case it's helpful: SD 28/7 review claim, awarded today via a letter dated 14/11 - didn't receive a text but I never do.

The dates take her to the day before her 17th Birthday, I'm assuming this is to allow for a potential PIP application? The thought fills me with dread and in all honesty, I'm always living in the hope that they'll find a cure for her illnesses and I won't need to claim. I think that's called denial isn't it?

Hey. I’m 18/07 for MR. I’m ready to rip my hair out now🙃😂 original coc was 12/03, so not as long as you but roughly the same lol😂

Ivytor · 22/11/2024 19:27

This is probably going to be a daft question so forgive me as I’m new to this, are you all in Scotland? I was wondering why there wasn’t a 3rd option on the phone but is it because I phone social security Scotland and most of you are from England?

@SKB12 you’re so lucky that she even transferred the call without her act of doing that you wouldn’t get a decision read out to you. I asked many times and they refused and didn’t even bother or attempt to transfer the call. I ended up waiting for the letter since no one was bothered to go above and beyond and at least transfer the call to the dispute team in MR. I guess I’m not a negotiator at all 😭

Oh no I’m sorry to read that. I did say to her ‘I know they can be given out over the phone because I know other people who’ve been told’ if she had still refused I would have asked her to put me through to a manager and if that hadn’t worked I would have cried 😅

You'll get a pip letter before she turns 16 to ask if you want to claim pip and then shortly after she turns 16 you will be asked to call for the forms.
Dds award was until the day before she was 17. She was 16 years and 1 week when we was asked to call for the forms.

Apologies for the vent! But I know you mums will get it.
It is so so so frustrating trying to fight DLA and the school system. My youngest has an EHCP and receives HRC and LRM currently in year 6 and transitioning into year 7. ADHD is his main diagnosis and all mainstream in the local area have said they cannot meet need. I've had a meeting with the school I named that have been directed to take him, and been spilled why they cannot meet need. And I completely understand why mainstream are so hindered by what they can offer but he is not specialist material. All he needs is support and understanding. Just literal love and kindness. Just a bit of care. And I feel like actually screaming at the whole system. I work as an outreach behavioral specialist in mainstream and I see the absolute struggle they are against. When will mainstream start to actually accept nerodivese children and move on from 1800s schooling styles. I'm currently in week 18 for my eldest awaiting DLA. He is also ADHD but manages better in mainstream, not perfect but better. Honestly if I could explain how working full time and managing two boys with ADHD actually is and how I want to loose my mind on a daily basis. The amount I spend on extra curriculum activities, lost equipment, replacing shoes every 3 weeks, leaving work at least 4 times a week, ripped clothing and the absolute sleepless nights. I'm so on the edge and a bottle of wine down. But the system is just so broken. It's like we are aware there is a need but absolutely nothing is done to change it. It's recognized yet not reconciled. Sorry for the vent. But I'm so stressed about affording Christmas not knowing whether my claim will be approved or even if before Christmas time. I feel you mums and it is valid. It's so difficult and just so brushed off!

This sounds so hard! I hope you hear soon. I know the money doesn’t make it better, but it does make it a little easier with being able to provide things that make their (and our) lives a little easier and replacing broken and damaged things.

Oh goodness I could’ve written the same. Where will your son go if specialist have said they cannot meet need? We had a lot of rejections from specialist settings due to the same and the needs of the kids already on roll. What annoys me the most is that we are jumping through hoops trying to prove our children have needs as if it’s something we are happy about? Do they not think it is tortuous and even downright depressing talking about our kids in a negative manner, having to focus on their weakness rather than strengths just to get them some help. Then we are seeing some parents waiting longer than others to get a yes or no it’s a mess! I know mainstream are under a lot of pressure especially when they don’t have the staff and resources and each one will say it’s the governments fault which essentially it is. Good luck x
