My son used to do that. He got so much better but it was only because he got annoyed wiping his bum and getting poop on it. I had to give him another lesson about toilet paper and how much so you don’t get poop on you that’s was aged 8 but he still does it sometimes. Don’t get me started about weeing on the seat! He can’t put toilet seat up at 10 .. then I sit in it. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Peeing on the seat 🤦‍♀️ my boy is 16 in 2wks....its like he uses a sprinkler! Never puts the seat up and when he does its the exact same on the seat...how, I have no idea! 😫 the wallpaper and paint picking is interesting to read, I just thought he was a destructive little swine. I've stood and watched mine do it, it's like he's talking to me but his hands have a mind of their own and he has no control of what they're doing if that makes sense to you. It's almost like an autopilot thing. Xx

Can I just ask a question. With parents that have other children that don’t recieve extra money? How do you explain to other children that the other child gets a little more, etc.
I haven’t been approved yet but I am concerned about this.
I’m hoping to use back pay for driving lessons to benefit my son but this will benefit all my children.
im just wandering what other mums do?
many thanks

When I first applied for DLA I used it to pay for a specialist pre school setting for the first two years for her & I topped it up with my own money, She’s since left there now but I buy her what she needs but I don’t make it obvious to my other children, So long as all your children have what they need, Of course they will benefit too that’s what being a family is after all xXx

Thank you for this my son of awarding will have weekly guitar lessons. Which other kids won’t realise so to say. I just think I’m over thinking it as I don’t want to make my other children think he has more but he does have more money, than them. That’s coming from a working family with 4 children it’s hard x

Mines was scanned 06/08 and I’m constantly asking myself the same thing, I’d just love to know the likely hood whether it’ll be done this year or not but when you call you get told so many different things

Iv been following this for a couple of weeks now and firstly can I just say how amazing you all are with the support you give each other 🫶… my forms dated 5 June .. scan date was 11th July … I caved and rang on Monday and was told it was in a holding cue .. then I’d missed calls this morning I rang the number that was in the text I think I went straight through to the decision maker and he just verified a couple of security questions then asked if my son was still waiting for to be assessed then asked me for my bank details as the system was saying incorrect id put a wrong number ..then told me id receive a letter in a week … my mind was thinking it can’t be a no if he needed my bank details… played on my mind all day so gave in and rang … he’s been awared hrc lrm so happy … im in the middle of changing over to uc … what do I need to now … seen and few things on here about an element and a carers thing I don’t want to get it wrong … do I wait for the letter before telling them too?
thank you

Hi, congratulations on your award. You can claim carers allowance which is worth £81.90 a week if your weekly income is less than £151 I believe it was. Add a note in your journal to let them know your child has been awarded, what rates and the date the claim was backdated too. They will then owe you any money due. Regarding the carers element, it’s a question I’ve asked recently on here. I have sent a message in the journal. They will ask if you are caring for your child for 35 or more hours per week and then add a carers element worth around £200 per month. You would need to ask them to backdate this, it’s sent to a decision maker for consideration. Ours is slightly different as we have done it for my husband being my carer but he is over the £151 threshold so we’ve asked for the carers element on UC and not carers allowance which isn’t included in UC, it’s paid separately. I’ve been told on here that it won’t make us worse off despite hubby working full time. It has gone to a decision maker to see if they will backdate it. I hope that helps a little x

Thanks see another comment about breaking things. My son does this and picks wall and paint of the walls, banisters etc gloss isn’t cheap, so yes when you try home improvements , driving, different food needs. Etc this makes sense more. I just hate everyone saying. You put in a claim what are you going to spend it on, I think it’s so judgemental, and you think about it!

I would say we haven’t decided yet! When you have a child with additional needs, the whole family tends to be impacted so if it brings happiness to all that’s perfect too!

Iv been reading a bit online it’s so confusing, so Iv read there’s carers element (uc) child element (uc) and then carers allowance that’s separate but if you claim the carers allowance it could effect the child element.. why is it so confusing 🫤 x

PollyH3 · 20/11/2024 20:42

On uc there is disabled child element (1 rate for hrc and a lower rate for mrc/lrc) and carers element (if you care for more than 35 hours a week.
A separate benefit is carers allowance that you can only claim if you earn below a certain amount. This is taken pound for pound from your uc, however it provides you national insurance stamp for your future pension. Its paid weekly. So you're no better or worse off but if you don't work it's worth it for your ni stamp.

It is confusing! That’s correct, the value of carers allowance (they go by an average) is deducted from your UC entitlement.

I was too scared to ask the CM when she rang 😂 so will ring in the morning and find out

Miguelo · 20/11/2024 22:10

I’m going to send DD10 EP report off. It says about adding the ref no to the extra sheets of evidence. Is this on the letter we get acknowledging receipt of the claim form?

dshort1994 · 20/11/2024 23:13

Does anybody know the requirement of mobility if you’re claiming for a 3 year old? I’m confused because it seems like the website says that a 3 year old can only be granted HRM but if your child’s 5 or over they can get LRM. So confused 😖 x

AugustLily · 21/11/2024 03:05

Positive post! S/D 11/07, woke up and I can see a pending transaction from DLA due for tomorrow. I can't believe that the wait is finally over. Good luck to everyone and I hope that everyone gets this outcome.

At 3 a child can only get HRM, at 5 you can qualify for both. There’s several routes to go down for mobility under 5. But it is extremely hard to get they are so strict

Hey guys could I ask some advice? My son is diagnosed autism and he is struggling with a ta in school,
he is stimming so bad as she took his break away the other day for talking when he said he wasn’t it was another child talking to him, this has really affected him. She told him off on the first day back at school in September and he never met her before for tapping a pen on the table. I have informed senco but nothing seems to be being done.
unfortunately when my son stims it involves licking lips to an point he makes them so chapped and sore. We are currently at this point. His lips are so bad, and he isn’t stopping, I feel like giving him a couple days off school to heal his lips as it’s windy and cold as well, it will get worse.
they are splitting and bleeding, it’s so horrible to see and he isn’t stopping coming home from school with them worse everyday. I’m treating them with Vaseline etc but it’s not helping.
i just don’t want to get in the habit of time off when he struggling with something if get me as we could then have school refusal.
he is a twin as well and my other son will have to go school.
I just don’t know what to do.
also children are laughing at him saying boys don’t wear lipstick, I’m angry as well to be honest as this is a bloody ta fault

Hi all,
Been lurking for a little while.
SD 14/08 NC.
Rang yesterday as we have changed GP so needed to report change. Gentleman on phone told me I was in holding queue 3, which he said means I'm 3 away from main queue??? Said I should hear something by mid December.

I'm in the process of tribunal for my 3yo on mobility side.
You can only claim hrm for under 5s. I was told it was due to the amount of supervision guidance and awareness of dangers any under 5s have.
To get hrm they need to be virtually unable to walk or have a severe mental impairment.
As been said above, they are so strict and generally decline the claim (hence I'm now at tribunal stage)
I had consultant paediatrician write supporting letter stating his severe mental impairment and occupational therapy state how my son is. Along with the documents for his sedatives, padded helmet and safe space bed.
I've now gone all the way as he does fit all 6 criteria under the smi rule.
Here's to the next set of waiting for me x
