Hello everybody, I have made a new thread please put in your scan date, hopefully we hear some good news this month. please be kind and feel free to share scan date, entitlement award and what child is diagnosed with as others in similar position can feel uplifted in these stressful times. 💐

New claims (NC) are taking ‘around’ 20 weeks.
Mandatory Reconsideration (MR) & Change Of Circumstances (COC) between 20-25 weeks approx.
Renewals between 15-20 weeks approx
tribunals: when you disagree with MR and are considered by a court

scan date (SD) date form was scanned on the system and counting weeks for decision

original claim date: date you called up for the forms and you will be backdated

UC : universal credit
DWP: department of work and pensions
DM: decision maker; the person who assesses each claim and awards/decline a case

number for an update (0800) 121-4600

currently we are beginning of July and some last June dates! xx

Around £1200 if you’re in a couple, and I think it’s around £600 if single. Not exact numbers but roughly estimate without googling😂 and not just carers element so say all in all you’re claiming around 1800 in UC, and say you earn 2200 in wages for a month as a couple, the first 1200 of your wages aren’t taken into consideration which then leaves 1000. So 1000 is taken off of your 1800 UC, which means your UC entitlement for that month is 800.

Now I’m confused 😂 would we be worse off by claiming it. My husband works. I was asking in relation to my recent PIP award so whether we should claim carers element with husband being a carer for me? We don’t want to be worse off! 😩

you’d be better off. As I say the extra elements make the award. Your husband can be down as carer for you as long as he’s not down as carer for anyone else

Also you wouldn’t be worse off no. You’d have all your wages, along side a top up from UC unless the wages cancel out the award. If I was you I’d just apply, you aren’t going to lose anything there’s a lot of people that work full time and claim uc aswell.

Scan date was 4th July still not heard anything anyone around the 4th still waiting as no money in bank yet and no letter. How long does this letter take.

Carers element and carers allowance are different things aren't they? I thought carers allowance was taken £ to £, but didn't think the carers element was.
I just don't get any answers from them. It can take weeks before I get any response

I work aswell. I am not entitled to career allowance but I have careers element in my claim with disabled child element. It then all gets added to the entitlement and gets deducted according that months wage. The only benefit that is not income dependent is DLA which you can claim regardless of your income. Unfortunately the way the UC system works everything is one pot, so you always end up being worse off then previous system. Hope that helps xx

5th July still waiting! Was told to call back at 20 weeks which is this coming Friday, however I'm not holding my breath they don't seem to be working in date order as some dates from Aug/Sept are being awarded.

You definitely won’t be worse off, if you already get UC it will just be an additional £200 on what you normally get.

No way would they be allowed to do that. They might wish they could but actually be allowed to, no.

Stillwaiting2 · 18/11/2024 22:22

i Didn’t think they could. I’m not gonna bother ringing tho till middle of December, I’m only 14 weeks today, it’s dragging

Ours too. It was around 12 weeks back then. They haven’t said what’s caused the backlog, maybe the number of claims..
