Mines 1/7 rang today as its 20 weeks exactly and still nothing told to ring back in couple of days but knowing me I’ll ring back tomorro to be told same. Last week I got told it’s at top of que to be looked at and when I rang today they said they couldn’t see anything on screen to say it’s with a decision maker or not. They all tell you different things. Hopefully we’ll all get good news soon

Oh god I hope that’s not the case on Wednesday and I hope you get your decision asap! I was told it was with a DM last Monday then I called towards the end of the week and they said I could still send evidence so I did next day and that has arrived and scanned on

MR, 19 weeks Thursday. Called today and got a really lovely lady. She said that although the time frame is 25 weeks, they seem to be deciding at around 20 weeks so to call back at 20 weeks if I’ve had no update.

I’m 18weeks on Thursday so only a week behind you. I’m gonna wait out now till the 20weeks mark and hope for the best🤞🏽🤞🏽

It changed by the hour honestly! X

I’m asking on behalf in my SIL. If doing an MR for a new claim and it gets accepted, do you get back pay from the original application date? X

I’m not sure on this, sorry. I’m doing an MR after a renewal decision. Hopefully someone else can help. Have you had that well deserved bubbly?!

mammyoflilyandluca · 18/11/2024 19:42

@MrsW12 by the looks of this post and the comments it looks like she got it backdated to her original NC scan date so yes I'd say you do!

Yes it’ll be the original date. So if I was successful with my MR I’m doing for my son, it would be back dated to march x

Evening, so I've got myself a bit confused.
I added my child's dla to my uc. It the disability element was added to my claim very quickly. Am I right in thinking this will be backdated to my scan date? Also I didn't realise til earlier that the carers element is a completely different thing. I work full time, am I able to claim that too? If so would that also be backdated?

Im not sure on carers as I’ve never claimed but you need to ask them to backdate the disabled element as they don’t automatically do it. It can take about 4 weeks and you need to nudge them x

Hi, I asked similar today. A member said she believes you are allowed to earn up to £1200 before they start to reduce the carers element which is around £200 a month.

After making the change you need to ask on your journal for it to go to a decision maker for back dating. Yes you can claim carers element regardless of if you work or not as long as your child is getting middle/high rate. You can’t get carers for LRC. After making that change you will have to ask for that one to be backdated also in the journal x

It's been a bit if a joke if I'm honest. I notified them on 30/9 that my son had been awarded and it was only sent to and decision maker today

Around £1200 if you’re in a couple, and I think it’s around £600 if single. Not exact numbers but roughly estimate without googling😂 and not just carers element so say all in all you’re claiming around 1800 in UC, and say you earn 2200 in wages for a month as a couple, the first 1200 of your wages aren’t taken into consideration which then leaves 1000. So 1000 is taken off of your 1800 UC, which means your UC entitlement for that month is 800.

Anxiouslywaitingmum · 18/11/2024 19:58

Carers element and carers allowance are different things aren't they? I thought carers allowance was taken £ to £, but didn't think the carers element was.
I just don't get any answers from them. It can take weeks before I get any response

Chels2020 · 18/11/2024 19:58

@Kimh95 it wont let me reply on the other post you tagged me in for some reason so I’ve not rang since last week and they told me to wait untill 13th December before I phone again x

Carers element is an element on UC, so isn’t taken £ for £ as it’s part of the uc entitlement

Haha, I'll see what happens in a week or so but it had annoyed me. It's been 7 weeks and now need to wait for the DM x

Obviously this isn’t exact and the amounts differ if you’re getting the housing element. Have a look online it tells all the exact amounts for everything but hope that slightly helps🤦🏽‍♀️😂
