It’s been such a quiet weekend. We can only hope a lot of decisions are due to be made this up coming week🤞🏽

It’s natural to draw comparisons. They even say that the child’s needs need to be greater than a child of the same age so they are drawing comparisons too. Like I don’t know any 13 year olds that can’t tell the time unless it’s in digital format etc to be fair when we claimed he was awarded HRC from the offset

Exactly this! But a lot of professionals especially health visitors say “don’t compare” but that’s how it’s been set with milestones and charts of where a child should be if you get what I mean. It’s said that one child is hitting every milestone accordingly and then another child isn’t but “don’t compare” because every child learns at their own pace give them a chance to catch up. If we all listened to that then none of our children would be getting the extra support they need

My 11 year old was sooooo different to my 15 year old and I kept telling myself not to compare. It was only during lockdown when she was 7 that I thought, hang on, this isn’t right. It’s helped me realise that my 4 year old (that I’m now claiming for) isn’t where she should be at, because she’s exactly like my 11 year old was at that age

my 4 year old is my first child so I didn’t have other children to compare to like that but I had family members children to compare too, so once my boy hit 1 I started making phone calls. I have a 2 year old who is the complete opposite she is hitting all milestones so when she started talking and doing everything my eldest didn’t do I was knocked back slightly because it was parenting in a complete different way to the first if you get me😂 now I have a 16 month old who is presenting the exact same signs as my eldest so we just have to wait until he’s 18months old to start referrals now to be assessed. But if I didn’t have my eldest to compare too now I would be none the wiser sort of thing. As parents we know our children best we know when we’re giving more care needs than the average child and we know when they need extra support

Scan date 4/11 for coc, says it can take up to 11 weeks but we can only hope🤣

They compare and we do too. I knew from when my son was around 4 something wasn’t right but we hadn’t even heard of autism. I’m seeing traits in a younger child of mine now and will be speaking to nursery about this but one thing at a time 😩

C1502 · 17/11/2024 09:27

has anyone had any issues due to age? My 1 year old currently gets MRC I did the original form when she was 4 months old. Personally I thought she should have got HRC due to the conditions she does have. The coc I have done is because she has been registered blind and I mentioned she was awaiting physio appointment. She’s the size of a 5month old baby, can’t sit up, crawl etc. I’m worrying they may decline due to her age 😢

As long as you can evidence higher care needs than the average 1 year old, I think you’ll be perfectly fine, they’ve awarded your child at a young age already so you’ve clearly evidenced more needs than the average already, in order to get HRC you need to evidence substantial night time needs MRC will cover day and/or night needs so if I was you I would focus on professional evidence outlining night needs alongside the day needs that are substantial

MrsW12 · 17/11/2024 11:14

I am driving myself mad reading that school report over and over. I really hope it’s enough to get us awarded 😫

i do the same. I’ve read over my sons reports so many times these past 17/18weeks🤦🏽‍♀️😂

Carson2504 · 17/11/2024 11:46

18 weeks 3 days tomorrow! Feeling nervous now but in my head it’s a decline so can’t be disappointed. 12/07. Let’s hope for lots of awards next week. Xx

It’s horrible isn’t it. They obviously wrote to the school to lean towards an award and the school have said she needs extra support but I’m still worried!

I know, I’m just nuts! I have adhd myself so I overthink terribly.

SKB12 · 17/11/2024 12:35

Me too. There’s one piece of evidence that I’m counting on in particular and if they don’t regard that as enough to change my sons award then it’ll be a decline and over to tribunal to consider instead. I did run it past DM while asking about wait time confirmation 😂

Yes, I only submitted an extra letter from nursery and then a 10 page letter from myself on why I disagree with their statements. I’m counting on that nursery letter to swing it😂 they obvs have all the previous evidence from the original coc

Thankyou! I just ticked that her night needs havnt changed since I did the original form so there still the same, she’s tube fed and can only have a teeny tiny taste of purées once a day so she’s still fed during the night plus meds in the night too so I’m hoping they look back at what I wrote the first time. It’s so difficult to fill the form out for a baby they should definitely have a different form🤣 all I sent with this form was her blind certificate off her ophthalmologist because that was the only change I was making but I did write lots on the extra information🙂

My statement was 17 pages long I was probably waffling to be honest 😆 my extra letter was from the LEA so hopefully shows someone independent of us. You’ll get your decision your decision before me so might give me hope too if it’s good news for you. I certainly hope it is

You know when they send you your decision letter and it outlines on what basis they made their decision for the rates awarded, is the statement of reasons just the same information as that?

I’ve seen a lot of people that when their child is tube fed they get HRC
