Just got the standard generated 2nd letter from them saying sorry it’s taking a while and they’re still looking etc. I know it’s a standard letter but does anyone know if there is any patterns forming when people receive the 2nd letter to a decision?

What was your scan date?

Hi sorry if this is the wrong place but could anyone tell me if this is correct thank you

From what I know yes. You've lost your transitional protection due to a change in circumstances eg adding the carers element and child disablilty element.
Alot of people don't realise this will happen. I'm just waiting in tax credits to add the disability element for ds before I do my switch later this month.

This isn't always true my daughter was given 3 year award before diagnosis then at renewal after diagnosis, ehcp another 3 year award I think the age of the child also effects award length

agree, my child has an ECHP and was still given the generic 2 year award at renewal but I assumed is because we are below 5 years old. Age play a huge factor when deciding length unfortunately, I think you can do MR for length of award.

Oh no, I hadn't even thought of this. It sounds right. So all my UC back payments are going to be cancelled out by transitional protection too

I rang yesterday for the address to send extra evidence, mines a new claim 15/7 they told me to not stress the evidence will make it cause he said they’ll only be reviewing them most likely by the first week of December for my scan dates, he said they was still doing June claims.

What's transitional protection

What's transitional protection

People who have been made to switch over to universal credit have a thing called transitional protection because uc is less than what we would have got on legacy benefits. It meant we was paid the same rate has on legacy benefits

MrsB941 · 05/11/2024 14:38

Has anyone been awarded today at all?

TheRBC · 05/11/2024 14:46

Hey guys! Was wondering if any of you can help me? My son has been receiving middle rare care since last year - he turned 5 in June this year and a few months before he turned 5, I received new forms from DLA which I presumed were because of the mobility aspect. I filled them all in and sent everything back, including new evidence like his IEP, accident reports, new paeds report etc…. I have no idea what my scan date was and I didn’t receive a single letter or text from DLA this time around but I did send recorded delivery so I got photo proof it was at the DLA office by 10/6. Ive still been receiving middle rate care throughout this time, however this morning I have woken up to £1647.20 from them? I’m not going to be able to call at all today so was just wondering if any of you are maths wizards and able to explain to me what aspect of the award has changed please? Thanks in advance if any of you can work it out, I’ve tried numerous times but maths is not my strong point 🫠 x

PhoenixB19 · 05/11/2024 14:56

Called today my SD 19/6 COC
was told still not with a DM
even asked if I wanted to send any extra evidence from any appointments my son has had since June. So I sent them first class special to get there tomorrow. I may aswell as its still not even with anyone and I want him to be assessed right.
She said it will be scanned in same day it's received and to call back Friday to escalate to be looked at as will be over 20 weeks then. They said they're looking at more of a 22 week wait now :/

I could be wrong, but I’d say that was high rate mobility x

Sounds like your renewal has been done & you’ve been granted mobility 👍

Thank you. I couldn’t quite figure it out and I’m still unsure because I thought he wasn’t entitled to high rate mobility if care needs were middle? So then I thought maybe it was low mobility but the amount seems too high for that. I need to call really but that will have to be tomorrow. In any case, at least I can confirm that anyone who sent off their forms around 10/06 should be with decision makers and hopefully the wait won’t be too much longer for anyone 🤞🏼 x

Hi, can I join please? I don't understand most of the acronyms here, but am I right you are waiting for assessment / diagnosis of SEN?

We are new to all this. Our son is 5 and has suspected ADHD. His reception teacher flagged concerns but SENCO said no he's just a summer born boy. Fast forward now he's in Y1 and he is more obviously different to the other children in his class. It's hard to take in.

I've been reading up on ADHD as I knew next to nothing about it, and so much of what I read online now I can see in my son.

The SENCO has referred us to the Child Development Team and said we should have an appointment in about 10 months. We are in Enfield - does anyone have any experience of this around here?

We are also considering paying for a private assessment. Has anyone done this? How does this then work with getting your child support in school?

Thanks for any advice. Please send me to another thread if this isn't the right one!

It's taking forever isn't it.. uhhh
I'm going to call Friday morning and see if they scanned in my extra evidence and see if they can get it looked at, I'm exhausted with all this waiting now but in a way im glad I've had chance and sent in extra evidence whilst i can as at least i know i would have done everything possible to get my boy what he deserves, still exhausted though 😴😂 x

Could it be high rate care & low rate mobility back dated to his 5th Birthday, My daughters mobility was backdated to her 5th birthday
