Hello everybody, I have made a new thread please put in your scan date, hopefully we hear some good news this month. please be kind and feel free to share scan date, entitlement award and what child is diagnosed with as others in similar position can feel uplifted in these stressful time.

wait time are currently between 20-25 weeks. However most likely is between 18-22 weeks.

Hi, has anyone requested urgent status due to financial hardship and it’s actually made a difference in wait time? They’ve accepted my reasons but just wondering if it will make a difference at all?

I have as my husband is having to leave his job due to our child's care needs. They said it was marked as urgent yesterday, but I phoned again today and they said it wasn't marked as urgent, so they say they have marked it as urgent now and to phone back in a week but it still could be longer as it's up to the decision maker.

Thank you for your reply! Do they think you should have a decision next week then? I’m already on week 12 so hoping not too much longer now they’ve marked as urgent

I think you can give you national insurance number instead x

Think we got the the point when 20 weeks have passed you just lose all hope and are just exhausted with the whole thing.. that's how I feel today just tired of it all & being fobbed off everytime you ring them. I'm actually not calling today I'm going to leave it till Monday now unless I hear before (highly unlikely) xx

I Feel like calling back this afternoon to complain, it’s been 22-23 since scanned, 26weeks since I first called. It took around 4 phone calls to the escalation team to actually realise they needed me to send another document and I just think that’s a joke on its own, now to be shoved back in line for a decision maker has just really made me fed up now! Don’t get me wrong we’re all waiting for our turn and I don’t wish to just skip the line before my time but I do think at this point they should mark it as urgent now?

So stressed out from all areas at the moment 😅 also does anyone have an EHCP for their adhd child?

Miguelo · 08/11/2024 15:14

I’ve had the usual sorry we haven’t made a decision yet please be patient or whatever.

how long after receiving this have people been awarded?! Or declined lol

I decided to call again after posting, got told to call back Wednesday and that a decision should be made “really soon” she also wrote that I’m “eager to know” on the notes 🙃x

Yes i had an ehcp for my eldest boy who had adhd.
Anyway my update 😳
It's now with a case manager (which is good) BUT.... it says on the notes that they have tried to contact a 3rd party for more information, it doesn't say who this is just that they have reached out for info, whether by call, letter or email who bloody knows ehh, she tried to call the case manager to ask whilst I was on phone to her and apparently wasn't any answer and he's probably gone home for the day.. told to call back in 4-5 weeks if I heard nothing 🤣🤣🤣 fuming

Do you have to wait for official diagnosis for an EHCP? It’s only something I have come across recently but I do feel my son needs something in place for him to thrive at school. He’s constantly “in trouble” and I hate to say it but I think they are “fed up” of him 💔

wow a 3rd party! Do you have any ideas of who it could be? If your son is requiring the higher rate mobility, hopefully this 3rd party is someone who can back this up for you, again wishful thinking! 4-5 weeks… 😅speechless.

PhoenixB19 · 08/11/2024 16:35

No you don't need a diagnosis for an EHCP.. my eldest son got an ehcp when he was 7 and he got diagnosis of ADHD & tourettes (tics) when he was 11 and that EHCP stayed in place until he was 18 ...
I know right, I literally have no idea who they have contacted it's either new school his old nursery or my early help worker so I'm gonna go crazy now till I find out 🤣🤣🤣
But what kind of case manager doesn't write on the notes who they contacted 🥴🤦‍♀️

No you don’t need an official diagnosis to apply for an EHCP, If you can get the school to support you with applying that really will help you, However it is not essential,
The EHCP process isn’t easy please reach out to organisations in your area who can support you as it really is an absolute minefield to get your head around,

Good luck 🤞

Id say you have done more than enough waiting and they should 100% be sorting your case as urgent!! Given on the letter says 15 weeks and your coming up to 10 weeks passed that 😫!!

I got everything crossed for you!

Mygirlsandme3 · 08/11/2024 16:51

does anyone know if a EHCP is the same as a IDP in wales please? Sounds like it’s the same thing, I’ve only ever heard of IDP’s here

Looks like this is happening to a few of us 😫. I’m officially over the 20 week mark now as I’ve not heard a thing. Oh well, glass of wine for me now! X

Still nothing yet. Ive only called once a few weeks ago and it was like talking to a brick wall. Im too anxious to call again, I have a
meeting in 2 weeks to discuss going back to work after my maternity so im hoping if I get this - I have a bit more flexibility to not have to go back straight away.

I cant believe the waiting times! Its really awful

Good luck everyone! X

This is me too!! I'm hoping to be able to go back part time rather than full time 😭 it's horrible having to be called out of work for meltdowns and meetings etc but with the way the cost of living is this is my only option at the minute x

Yes an IDP is the same as an EHCP it’s just called a different name in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

I actually can’t believe how much decisions have slowed down. With how big the back log seems, I’d expect to see decision after decision
