I wonder if it goes to different decison makers based on the area the claimants from . Honestly I was surprised when I saw it, I thought I'd be waiting till after New year

Emat19833 · 15/11/2024 19:17

Yes maybe that's true...

Got awarded DLA for my son on 28/10, SD was 19/06.

We told UC so they could add the Disability Element on 01/11, followed up with backdating it too.

06/11 they said the disability element has been verified.

They told us 14/11 it’s gone to the decision maker with regards to the backdating.

Received the below letter today on the journal, I’m assuming this means that the backdating has been accepted? If anyone can clear that up would be great 😂

Yes, your money will be backdated

Ah ok, thank you!

just confused me as it didn’t give a value of how much we’ll be getting or when. I’m assuming that backdated payments tend to paid out seperate to the standard UC payment days?

You should get a letter on your journal stating how much you are owed. The transfer should take 3-5 days and is usually a separate payment from your monthly one.

Emat19833 · 16/11/2024 10:04

It means check your uc account the money had been backdated on this special occasion from when your child has been awarded your dla claim.
That's great news your uc account t will show the amounts adjusted what your entilted to now
Congrats

SD 13/7

Hi, just wondering if anyone has gotten DLA for their child who is a baby. I've applied for my daughter and she's 8 months old.

She has a couple of rare conditions, she has unicoronal craniosynostosis which required her to have endoscopic surgery at 4 months old and wearing a helmet 23/7. Shes also recieving physiotherapy daily as the helmet has delayed her physically. She also has Poland syndrome where she needs physio on it daily otherwise if it's not stretched she will lose use of the arm later on and could subsequently lead her to having surgery.

This is a lifelong condition where she will be looked after forever. She needs regular CT scans to keep an eye on cranial pressure, opthalmology in future, speech therapy in future, and psychological assessments because of her physical features.

I'm just so scared they're going to over look her because of her age. She needs so much care it's unreal.

I've put in extra information from "people who know her" section and used my health visitor I'm just hoping with the evidence I sent and that we should get it. We have so many appointments at alder hey and physio the extra money would be amazing.

Hey, my daughter is pretty similar sees similar people and also has a few rare conditions she currently gets middle rate, I’ve just done a change of circumstances to see if she can get higher rate as she’s just been registered blind. I just sent any letters I had from appointments about her conditions and people she see’s. Hopefully it goes well for you!

Scan date 4/11 COC

Shorty180 · 17/11/2024 09:04

Scan date 5/11 🤞

Shorty180 · 17/11/2024 09:38

I don’t have much evidence with my claim, just a statement from the school Sendco and she’s also done a copy of the pages about what they’re like at school. I feel like I’ve basically sent a begging letter. My son is 5 and has anxiety and suspected ASD. Just feel they’ll say ‘all 5 year olds behave like that’ it’s a long wait to find out isn’t it 😢

Emat19833 · 17/11/2024 12:15

It is long wait and I didn't send anything apart from doctors notes about his asthma which Is really bad he had between 7 to 10 chest infections a year.
He's on the path ways for adhd which is even longer wait at the minute he's 6yrs old 7 in may he's on send plan at school because of his concentration is very low and he needs help with his reading and writing. He's so energetic it's unreal , hes sleep pattern is out this world will not go to sleep with out me by his side and when he finslly goes down to sleep if i move or leave him he wakes up and then he up till all hours then he tired for school its awful to see bit he was a very poorly baby from birth aswell, he hates being inside more outdoor type child. So I'm in same boat as you really hun... but child dla is more about the hours you have to look after your child day and night etc so I'm hoping I will hear something next week if its yes or no

Motherlysweet · 17/11/2024 13:13

Though evidence helps but we have heard here that some had the higher rate care and mobility without any evidence. My opinion,it's how you describe ur child needs and a little bit of luck. Fingers crossed for everyone x

My son is similar with his sleep, hasn’t slept in his own bed for years now as he can’t be alone, this is largely the main problem as he also gets up at 5am everyday, as single parent I can’t increase my working hours due to sheer exhaustion 🤷‍♀️

Emat19833 · 17/11/2024 14:10

Yes I agree with you...its so exhausting so much for our child but also for us. My little boy sleeps with me every night and my partner sleeps in his bed.. I have bought pull out double sofa bed in my living room so when he falls asleep I crawl into my bed but that doesn't last for long lol...
I have bad anxiety and depression also but we pick ourself up don't we for the sake of our children.
It's all hard but we seem to manage

Shorty180 · 17/11/2024 15:01

Yep - got to keep fighting the good fight for them 💪
